Got to ski this pair in December during Christmas in the Alps, although we only had one day of fresh powder these ski's were absolutely lovely. If you are a skier who likes to power through bumps and dominate the off piste, this is the pair for you. On groomers these skis behaved surprisingly good as the sheets of metal give a lot of stability, which allows you to get the most out of them. The ski's are meant to be ski'd fast and I enjoyed long turn carving the most in these. To this whole set up of the ski's some areas of skiing get more difficult such as the pop from jumps and bumps as the skis are on the heavy side and really stiff. Also short turn carving is more difficult, so when you go skiing during busy season this ski might not be the one for you as you want to use the whole mountain preferably. Now looking to add the Atomic Bent 90 for adding more playfulness and park abilities to my arsenal.

I demoed these from Pinnacle in Stowe the first weekend in March, but didn't hit the trigger because I thought the price would come down more. It did not. Instead it was selling out. I demoed them again, along with the Blizzard Rustler 10, last Sunday in Park City. The Rustler 10s had me slowing down and putting anticipatory pressure on my knees going through soft, chopped up snow. My 5'11", 240 lb frame felt much more confident on the Enforcer 104, and I was able to relax my knees and zip right through the chop. The trees were generally not as tight as the unmarked ones at Stowe, and I was able to chose whether to carve through or slow down and pivot through them. The 179cm was sold out, but I ended up buying the 186cm Enforcer 104. I hadn't skied on anything longer than I am tall, but it felt right and the salesman said it would work well for me given my hefty stature.

Yeah I think a 186 cm Enforcer 104 is a great ski for you and your size. I can imagine the Rustler 10 feeling a little unstable for you, especially in choppy snow. I think you'll love owning a 186 cm Enforcer!

I love your ski reviews - ski dynamics can be such an abstract subject to explain and you do it in a way that is easy to understand. You mentioned mount points in your video, and I’ll be the annoying person who asks about them again - for a skier who doesn’t go switch much except as a challenge on days with poor conditions, plans to use this as an 80% off piste east coast glades/bumps ski, and who likes to jump around off side hits and cliffs, what mount point would you recommend?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 2 жыл бұрын
Hey John! Honestly, sticking right on the recommended line is probably best for you. That's going to help it perform its best in trees and bumps, and you can certainly swill mess around with some switch skiing at that mount point. I've done it plenty and it still feels relatively balanced. If anything, you could go +1 or +2, but I don't necessarily think you need to, and I certainly wouldn't go further forward than that.
@cm96yyc

I demoed this ski recently and I loved it. The "mobile tank" descriptor is quite accurate. It felt like I was riding snow plows in the deep and chop, and they had a good bite and were super fast on edge on the firmer stuff. They're fairly easy to maneuver but they require a LOT of input because of their overall weight, especially if you're light like me. They are definitely not as playful/fun as lighter all-mountain skis, but if you want the stability to bomb through everything and are willing to put the work in to steer them, they're a blast. Rustler 10 felt similar but significantly lighter so bumps required more of an around than through approach.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the amazing review. Would you mount touring bindings and use this (or the 110) as a touring ski? Or you would go to more dedicated touring skis (e.g. black crows freebird serie)?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 3 жыл бұрын
I do know a good amount of skiers who tour on Enforcers, but it's definitely on the heavy side. In my opinion, it comes down to how often you're touring. If it's just a little bit on the side and you'll be skiing the resort more often, it's a reasonable choice for sure. If you're going to only be using it for touring, or even mostly, I would go lighter like a Freebird as you mentioned.

Great review. Back from my 4 days in Tremblant where we had some fresh snow every day and I skied my Racetigers 1 day and my Enforcer 88s 3 days - but I could have easily used those 104s and had a blast. This Enforcer 104 has to be a no brainer for everyone on the East Coast that wants a quiver of skis, for their wider / fun / fresh snow day on bigger hills. You guys should create Quiver Lists and just include this ski with a 3cm forward mounting point and a Look 15 Binding in the 3 Ski Quiver East Cost Basket - I want this ski

Hi, firsrt of all, thank you for the superb review! I have one question, I am considering these skis for my next freetouring/occasional freeride/ allmountain set, with Shift binding mounted on them. Weight won´t be a problem, I prefer performance on the run down. However, I´m struggling to choose the right length. I am 179cm tall / approx. 75kg, advanced skier. Would you go with 179 or 186? Many thanks for your answer!
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 3 жыл бұрын
I'm about your size and prefer the 186 in the Enforcer 104. I just feel like that size works better for how I like to ski than the 179. Lots of rocker, so it does ski a little short. There's not a huge difference in weight between those 2 lengths either.
@CC-ys8qq
@CC-ys8qq 3 жыл бұрын
Live the detailed reviews. Wished the 88 had a bit more flex to the back half of the ski and a teeny tiny bit more tail rocker and a hair less tip rocker. I find the 88 doesn’t want to release but track more straight line. I like the 100 rocker but prefer the narrower 88 for groomers. Have yet to try the 104, seems a bit bulky for east coast terrain?
@SkiEssentials

I personally don't think it's too bulky or too wide for east coast terrain. Realistically, it doesn't feel much wider than the Enforcer 100.

Hi guys! Thanks for the great vid :) For a woman 175cm tall, 130lbs (ex alpine racer) - would you recommend these (172cm) or the santa ana 104 equivalent? I am afraid the santa ana might not be stable enough, but I can't find the exact weight diff anywhere. I tried the Rossi Sender and found them to be not stable enough on some occasions, Happy to hear your thoughts! Thank you!

Hi Diane! I appreciate your feedback to the Sender. I wasn't sure what direction to go until I read that part. I would go with the Enforcer 104. You should get noticeably more stability out of that ski than the Sender. I don't think the Santa Ana 104 would be quite enough, just based on your reaction to that ski. Sounds like it’s a bit more stable, directional, and for more advanced skiers than the Line Sick Day 104 or the Dynastar M Free 108. I was actually looking at all three of these as possibilities for a wider inbounds ski for choppier snow days and the somewhat rare powder day here in Montana. The Line skis seem like they might be the easiest to pivot through tight spots and wide enough for my own powder needs. And since I’m not a fast skier or hard charger, I don’t need anything super stable to cut through crud at high speeds. Thus, I think the Sick Day 104 is likely in my future.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think everything you're saying is a fair assessment. The M-Free might be more pivoty in really deep snow than the Sick Days, more tail rocker and more width, but pretty close comparison overall.

Hi Jeff, I’m looking at getting a pair of 104’s. Just can’t decide between 186 or 191 length. I’m 6’2 180lbs. I like to ski aggressively and drive the front of the ski for the most part. (Off trail). Skiing Tahoe resorts mostly. Leaning towards the 191 but hope it’s not too much ski for all mountain resort skiing. What do you think? Thanks!

Float, stability and ability to zip through reasonably tight trees is what I’m looking in a pow ski addition to my quiver. Mostly Whistler (heavy pow, tracked pow, steeps) or Okanagan (Champagne Pow, Reasonably tigh trees in soft snow). Would you recommend this or the 110...or something else (rip stick - lighter or Fisher 115/ Salomon 118 or is there something in the Atomic changes that will be more like this profile without going to the Chetler at 120. I’m 5’8 170lbs and a former competitive bump skier. And have the 94 Enforcer as a daily driver. With the 110 or 104 would you suggest mounting 1 or 1.5 cm from recommended to get it to flick tree turns more quickly? Or just leave at recommended.
@privatsergej
@privatsergej 3 жыл бұрын
Heey! I’m living in Austria at the moment but spent 2 years in Whistler shredding 🙌 I would recommend the 110. The snow in Whistler is just softer and less harshier than for example here in Austria. For that the 110 will be more fun, more float etc.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 3 жыл бұрын
Enforcer 110 does feel like a good choice, I agree with that other comment. A little more float than the 104, and I just feel like it would be really good in Whistler snow. I skied a very similar ski last time I was out there and really enjoyed it. I think going with another Enforcer makes a lot of sense, as you already know you like that feel. Realistically, probably best to leave the mount point at recommended. Moving forward just means more ski behind you, which can be challenging in deep snow/tight terrain.
@privatsergej
@privatsergej 3 жыл бұрын
Oh forgot to answer to the second part of the comment. Honestly if you want to get into tricks, skiing backwards, and a more NewSchool orientated style I would definitely mountingit a little more forward. Yes of course in tight trees and on muggles you will have to work harder but it is so much fun skiing like that. And a good skier can handle everything right? I tell you, it will take a week to get used to the mounting position but for tricks and that playfulness it is awesome! I just got the Faction ct 3.0 and mounted it 3cm behind true center. The furtherst I have ever gone and ever will. It took some time to get used to it but it just makes sooooo much more fun. When you jump there is so much more tail to catch you. After just 10 days I learned 180s in both direction, skiing switch and so one. (without going to the park once, just on side-hits) If you think about it, try it!!! It will be a new challenge and you can always go back

Hi, I am looking for a ski. I am 5"6", and about 115 lbs. I am an intermediate/advanced skier, and I am looking for a versatile all mountain ski. I ski in Jackson Hole, and I hope to find a ski that is decent for carving and groomers, good for the occasional charge, buttery and playful, good for cliffs/jumps, and can also handle some pow. I am torn between the BC 100, the CT 2.0, the Prodigy 3.0, the Camox, and the ARV 106. I've also been looking at the declivity 102. The enforcer 104 also looks good. What ski would best suit me? Is there a different one you would recommend? Thank you.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 3 жыл бұрын
You're pretty lightweight, so I think one of the lighter, softer flexing skis is probably the way to go. Bent Chetler 100 would be a great ski for you. Enough stability for your size, and very playful too. Camox is very similar, although maybe a little more stability at speed. It's a close comparison, Bent Chetler is more playful if the Camox is more stable. Enforcer 104 would work if you want to maximize stability, but it might be kind of heavy for you. Between the Factions, the Prodigy would be better for that application. ARV 106 might be too much of a freestyle shape, although it could work too... Hope that helps!

I'm hesitate to make any guesses or assumptions about what we'll see next from Nordica. @SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! If you're a relatively strong, athletic person, the Enforcer 104 is a reasonable choice for a strong intermediate. It's heavier and stiffer than your QST 98, so that's certainly something to consider. It can be an all-mountain ski for someone out west for sure, especially if you're the type of skier that likes to explore off-piste terrain and enjoy softer snow whenever possible.

Hey Jeff, Thanks for all of the content around the Enforcer line! I'm an ex-racer who recently moved out to the PNW, and am looking for a ski that I can ski like a GS ski on groomers, but also be able to use in everywhere else on the mountain (on powder days, and dabbling in the park), so the enforcer 104 seems like a perfect fit. I got a chance to demo the 186s today and while I loved how they felt arching fast turns on steeper groomers, I felt that they were a little hard to maneuver in tighter spots around the mountain (sliding turns, bumps), and I'm wondering whether that's just a by product of the heavy weight of the enforcers, or whether I'd be more suited for something like the 179 length - for context, I'm 5'8", 175 lbs. I'm also in the market for new boots, and was on some rental boots during the demo that were on the larger side so that may have contributed to the lack of maneuverability.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jonathan! Yeah, I think the 179 cm would probably be a better length for you probably. I have the 186 personally and love it, but I feel the same thing when trying to maneuver it in tight spots. I'm a little taller than you, so justify it, and I don't mind working a little harder when I ski it. The other thing you could consider would be the new Enforcer 104 Unlimited, but sticking in the 186 cm length. If you haven't seen our review of that ski, it's pretty darn sweet. You do lose some of that GS performance on groomers, but not all of it, and it's a lot lighter, so easier to flick around. I think 179 in the Free or 186 in the Unlimited is the way to go.

@@ameed30 I’m an ex-racer, have skied FIS downhill skis. There is absolutely no way you ski ANY rec ski at 75 mph lol much less an Enforcer Free. (Frees are softer). 75 mph is World Cup Super G max speeds and average World Cup Downhill. (Low 90’s mph max for men) There is absolutely no way you could get away with that speed for any extended time at any resort without getting kicked out ASAP or of injuring yourself catastrophically. Don’t care what Strava says lol. Is there one extremely smooth section of steep slope somewhere devoid of skiers where you may approach 75 mph for a few seconds? Highly unlikely but possible. I sure as hell wouldn’t be doing it on 110 width rec skis. You’d seriously be risking your life. I used Strava a bit downhill mountain biking - where single track is literally < 10ft wide. You probably average staying within a 3 ft wide track most of the time. It’s not all that accurate. I have never used it skiing. With slopes so wide and varying greatly across the slope I image it to be wildly inaccurate. Merely an educated guess.

Rustler feels more playful in my opinion, mostly due to having a lighter swing weight. Probably the best place to start would be our comparison videos if you haven't seen those. They are similar skis, but the Rustler is going go to feel more forgiving and easier to maneuver, while Enforcer 104 will feel heavier, but with more vibration damping and a more powerful feel.

@@SkiEssentials thanks for the reply. I have been checking out more of your comparison video and will continue. Will you be doing a review of the QST 98 anytime soon? That is the other ski that has peaked my interest as I hear it has a little more of a rockered tail and having a little more taper in the tip would make me believe it would still be close to powder performance to that of the rustler 10.

I ski on carving days with my Head iTitans. Then I have Enforcers 93s and 100s. Love them. The Enfocer 93s are my all purpose ski. Skied my 100s today as we have had several inches of new snow the last few days. One of my buddies has the new 104s. He did own the 100s. He's a great skier and really likes the 104s, but tells me there is not enough difference in the 100s to the 104s to go out and buy the new pair until I am ready to replace the 100s. We ski lots of days here in Washington. Our ski hill is just above town. Your trails in Vermont are pretty narrow

If you’re not super skinny or heavy built 186cm is probably a good fit. How much do you weigh? “Medium good” ability - does that mean you’re comfortable on expert slopes (single black diamond in US) or do you feel more comfortable sticking to intermediate slopes (blue in US). If you like intermediate slopes and are slim for your height 179cm may be better.

All great skis! Enforcer 104 is the strongest out of those 3 skis. More stable at speed, more vibration damping, etc, but it's also the heaviest. Sick Day 104 would be the lightest, most forgiving, and least fatiguing, with the Rustler basically falling right in between them in overall performance. There are some differences in shape too, but I think that's a good place to start.

I have the rustler 10 - they are ridiculously fun. Watch ski essentials test videos on both, I think the difference in how they ski on groomers is pretty apparent, what sold me on the rustlers was Jeff’s comments on how at the end of the day the rustlers are refreshing to step into because they don’t demand as much skier input as skis with more metal or heavier skis. As someone who only lift skis 10 times a year, 80%woods 20%groomers (you guessed it - only head out for the freshies) the ease, playfulness, and stability of the rustler 10s let’s me rip laps from first to last chair grinning the whole way down. On the deepest days I wouldn’t mind more float but I can maneuver these skis anywhere. When it gets choppy, slow down a bit, pop, gap, and rip some quick turns instead of trying to bust through. I have them paired with shifts and just got fit for the Cochise 120, which while not the lightest set up will beat the heck out of snowshoe packing my old Brahmas and boots.

The Rangers are a bit more inconsistent in terms of flex and feel while the Enforcer 104 is truly smooth, strong, and predictable from tip to tail. Whereas the Rangers are a bit quicker and more maneuverable, the 104's are considerably sturdier. If you're looking for a higher-performance ceiling, I'd go with the Nordica all the way. Have fun! SE

Mostly because I already own lighter, shorter skis, so I didn't really need the lighter, more agile Ranger 102. The Enforcer 104 is a better complement to what I already own and ski. I generally use in days when I want to ski really fast and aggressively.

Great review! I'm like many customers torn between 2 sizes. (179 and 186) I'm at 183cm/6feet and 220lbs. I know the consensus is size 186cm, but I felt my current skis (Camox 186.5) too long for my skiing ability. Some skier friend recommended the 179 to "encourage" turning in steep and tight spots. Is there a concern to get a ski shorter than what your body needs mathematically?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Certainly nothing wrong with getting the 179 if you're looking for something that's a little easier to ski and turn. I'll say with a ton of confidence that the 186 cm Enforcer 104 will feel even more demanding than your Camox in basically the same length. You'll still get plenty of stability in the 179 and it will be quite a bit more user-friendly.

I comment on so many of your videos. I did just get done watching your 2020 Review of this ski and I did not comment on that one but I think what you said with both of these videos is what I am about to say. It sounds like this ski would compare to the DPS 100 x 184 Wailer Foundation RP that I just bought. I went longer with these skis like you did. It sounds like my skis are heavier like these. Those skis use 2 sheets of metal and mine doesn't but going to the alchemist construction makes them more reactive which sounds like that is not the 104 Free. What I want my skis to be able to do is to be able to do some shorter turns but also be able to blast through the crud. I am in Colorado and it is a lot more open out here and we get lots of powder but that powder gets skied out and there are tons of people to ski around at the bottom of the run around the lifts and on the catwalks. It sounds like even with the longer skis that both the Free 104 and Foundation 100 RP should be able to handle what I want them for.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Жыл бұрын
True Darin! I find the Enforcer 104 is very smooth and damp while the DPS does have some more energy and agility to it--the metal does slow things down a bit from a reactivity standpoint. Something 100 mm underfoot and with a short arc is great for daily CO skiing for sure. SE

@@SkiEssentials Yup.. And I did watch the 104 Enforcer Unlimited video last night and it sounds like the feel of that ski is probably similar to the DPS Alchemist/Pagoda feel. I know nobody asked for my advice but I am going to give it anyways. Do not break your arm with 2 and a half months of ski season left and without getting your spring ski picked out. It will drive you nuts. Thanks again SE..

What about moguls!? Out here in Washington State we have TONS of them. Was really hoping to get impressions on this for them. Are they agile enough to maneuver moguls? Will the weight give them a sluggish feel (or give my legs a sluggish feel, lol). I'm just getting back into skiing after many, many years away, and the options for skis are endless. Sheesh! Ahhh, I long for the simpler times. "Would you like your skis straight, or straight?" Lol. Curious to hear anyone's thoughts who've run these through some mogul fields...or other recommendations for skis that would be a good all-mountain skis that really rip it up in the modules...

@SkiEssentials 2 жыл бұрын
I can probably give you an update next week on mogul performance--still pretty thin here in VT. I'd imagine, though, that they're a lot easier to maneuver than the 104 Free, and I found that they handle quick mogul turns on the flats quite well, so I'm at least optimistic about their performance in bumps. Black Crows Camox makes a great bump ski in similar width. I remember being offered GS or SL skis, long, or longer.

Not necessarily. Often, yes, but sometimes the Ranger makes more sense. The Enforcer is heavier, so more stable at speed and has better vibration damping. More powerful ski overall. Ranger is lighter and quicker. More energetic, more snappy in how it feels when you ski it. Not as damp or as smooth as the Enforcer, but a little more responsive would be a fair description. I’m on the rustler 10s (comparable ski) and was in 90 flex boots that i felt were severely limiting me and borderline dangerous. I went to innerbootworks (sister company? in the same building) and got fit for 120 flex recently. For reference I’m 5’10 180lbs, aggressive playful skier but I’m 80%glades 20%groomers (gotta get to the entrance and back to the lift somehow). Was initially going to take the cheaper route and hunt for boot deals online, but after being able to try on all their recommended boots and walk away in a boot with zero pressure points that is compatible with my skis and skiing style I couldn’t be happier. Did I get the lightest boot - no, did I get the gear of the year boot - no, did I get the perfect boot for me - YES. Their prices were fair and you also get to chat with cool people. The little bit extra I spent is already forgotten because Im relaxed knowing they will work on my boot as needed if pressure points develop in the future and because some of the boots I was eying online turned out to be a terribly sloppy fit. Go to your local boot fitter, you won’t be disappointed walking away knowing your gear is optimized for you.

I agree with the other replies here, sounds like you'd benefit from a stiffer boot. 110-120 range is probably best. If you can, go to a boot shop and work with a reputable boot fitter, that's really the best way to buy boots, especially if you're moving into a new flex range and thus a completely new boot.
