I don't have the liberty to try them in a shop. How do these compare with Lange RX 100? I found Lange to be a great f it with exception that the instep was low so my feet went numb while I was trying them out in the shop...

Would you recommend these skis for a lower intermediate who isn’t the best carver yet? I’m also heavy for my height. I’m 5’5 210

Would you recommend the Wingman86 or the Ripsticks 88 skis? I’m 5’5 210. Ex collegiate wrestler with good leg strength but not the best skier yet.

Would this be too heavy for tours ? Already have a lighter tour setup (Superwolf w/ ATK Raider 12) for long tours but want something for deeper days. Would be 50/50 resort/touring, not sure if going for touring would make sense for that usage or if I should just commit to resort skiing with them.

Thanks for video. As always, very useful. Quick question: I am thinking about replacing my old (and a bit damaged) Rustler 10 180cm which I have enjoyed a lot, with either the new Rustler 10 but a bit longer (186cm) or these QST 106. I am hesitant on the size though…180 or 189 which feels a little too big for me. Which size would you recommend for the QST? I am an expert skier from Europe but spend 8-10 days or so per year in Utah or JH every winter. Good shape and 5’11. I am just not used to go much above 185cm and I like the versatility of using them on groomed tracks when I am back in Europe. Thank you!

Curious how you'd rate this against the M Free 108 as a northern Vermont pow ski. Specifically in the steeper natural terrain and trees. Do you give up a lot of smeariness and flickability against the Dynastar?

Have you tough about making a mid-90 comparison in 2 Parts like you just did with 100mm skis from playful to more stable and carving oriented? I am asking this cuz' its hard for me to choose between Maverick 95Ti, Rustler 9, QST 98, Stance 96, Unleashed 98. Essentially, I would like to learn how to ski trees and 4-6 inches of powder but also be able to carve on groomers. I am intermediate - advanced 6'4'' 210 pounds, but I would consider myself a beginner when it comes to freeride (trees and a bit of powder).

Would you recommend that board as a daily driver board for a big footer who mainly goes on piste , lives dorectional shape, don’t go to park at all, don’t butter , Jump , olie etc. Just Pure ride on the slope , and from time to time slightly off piste (ocasionally).

Hi team, great review and torn between the Qst 98; Dynastar 99 and the liberty 101. Ski mostly north Utah and niseko. I love to play on the mountain but sometimes during the day I have to ski with the wife and kids so stuck on groomers. Any recommendations as no way to demo any of these. Advance skier, 177cm tall for 74kg. Close to 50 do my days of jumps and tricks are gone but enjoy finding left over stashes, trees and side of groomers etc… Cheers in advance

Matt and I talk about that in Part 2 of the 100 mm All-Mountain comparison. It's kind of a toss up, but I think the Anomaly 102 is the closer ski than the 94 but not by much!

Anxiously awaiting Part 2 release. Just about ready to pull the trigger on either Enforcer 99 or Declivity X 102, would love to know how those two compare and contrast.
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
Both 10/10 ski experiences. The Declivity is quieter and smearier while the Enforcer is more precise and powerful overall. We don't really touch on these two as specific competitors in the video, but they're right up there for us as top choices in this category for sure.

I own the new Rustler 9 (purchased from you). Considering getting the Unleashed 98. How do these skis compare with carving and handling in firm, icy snow and in crud? Cheers.
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
The Unleashed is a phenomenal carver for a twin tip. It makes very clean and round turns on firm snow with greater ease and poise than the Rustler. The longer effective edge of the Unleashed is the culprit here regarding its smoothness.

Maybe I'm seeing things but it used to be that the Bent 100 was a decent carving ski - however, in this video it looked like you had to really force your turns on the new Bent 100. Does it have a larger turn radius or is it the result of the changed design of the ski? Or am I just seeing things? As always, thanks for the great reviews!
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
Same shape, I think these are all just more challenging conditions, if I remember correctly, at least when it comes to carving. The new ski does feel more competent and capable in a carved turn, even if that doesn't come through on video.

where would this slot in comparison to the Elan Ripstick 96 black and the Nordica Enforcer 94 in relation to carving capability vs low speed maneuverability off-piste and in the bumps? Looking for a front-side ski for colorado snow with some off-piste. already have a wider ski for deep days.
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
Considerably closer to the Enforcer than the Ripstick.

I I were to choose more of an all mountain power ski from this group what should I pick. I own a QST98 and it is great but in heaver snow it seems like I could use a bit more float. the Head Kore 105, Salomon QST 106 or Blizzard Rustler 10 seem like the best picks for me from this group. What would your powder pick be from those 3 skis?
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
Powder points to the QST. Kore is a better carver and Rustler has the best blend of attributes.
@AK-StonebornКүн бұрын
Im 6ft weighing in just about 175 pounds would you suggest going with the 178’s or 186’s?
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
If you're more aggressive and prefer higher speeds, I'd go 186. For easier turning and slightly shorter turns, the 178 still has a high performance ceiling due to the sturdy build.
@AK-StonebornКүн бұрын
@@SkiEssentials thanks! I am a pretty aggressive skier but I also want a little bit more mobility on technical slopes so I think I’m leaning towards the 178s.

Hi there, I'm looking to buy and progress as a skier. I mostly ski on the groomers and looking to get off-piste so start feeling and learn how to ski on powder too. I'm 1,77m, 60 kg, and thinking between Salomon stance 80 or 84, to the Head Kore 80 or 84. What do you think will be the best for me? Not carving atm
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
The Stance is a better choice for progression and is a bit more versatile. I'd go with the Stance 84 in the 170ish range.

Between Head Kore 93 and ripstick 96 black which ski performs better on east coast hard pack/ice in a carved turn? Which would you consider to be more versatile? If I go with the Kore it will be the 184 so waist width will be closer. I’m a big guy like Bob, Thanks!
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
I (Bob) found a lot more confidence on groomers here in VT on the Kore. The Ripstick is more flexible for sure, and I had a harder time finding that same confidence in the shovel. In my experience, the Kore is a much more accomplished carver.

@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
I love recommending the Justis to skiers in this range. Great compliment to the QST 92 and just an amazing ski from tip to tail.

Would you recommend this as a first powder or all mountain - soft snow oriented ski? I’m an experienced skier on piste and can carve at reasonable speed, but I have very little experience with off-piste. Now, that I moved closer to the mountains, I’d like to go explore off-piste in snowy days. Any advice would be very welcomed! Thanks!
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
They turn great off-trail and are wonderful in powder. The only downside for a first powder/all-mountain ski is that they have some heft to them. If you can get beyond that, they're amazing. Slightly lighter, check the Blizzard Rustler 10.

@@SkiEssentials actually I have one more question :) would you recommend the 189 length or should I downsize? I'm 188 and 90 kg, and I ski on 182 Rossi LT and 187 Brahmas. Also, I found a super deal for the 189 version here in Europe.

Super review!:-) I saw in other review it feels that radius is more about 16 in reality instead 14,3 (177 cm), what do you mean? It makes a sense for me.. I don't understand how is possible to get the same radius with the change of tip/tail width and the same underfoot..:-) How do you feel the radius the new ones vs older version?
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
I believe the narrowing of the tips and tails makes for the longer turn radius. The older version was a bit too responsive for the target audience. This puts the overall footprint of the Magnum closer to the Rally and the Titan in the Supershape realm. I think it works great, especially if you're not looking for a slalom arc.

If I bought as a pow ski -> How does it ski on cat tracks & groomers when getting around? Can I still enjoy carving it returning to a lift? Variable snow (hard patch?). I am looking for something half-way between the MFree108 and BC 110 on the stiffness/directional/chargey scale, but wider & still ok in chop so the end of the day is not painful etc.
@SkiEssentialsКүн бұрын
Actually really good stuff here. Nice and light and agile for the width. It's an energetic ski with good pop and I think that translates well to cat tracks and groomers. Not as powerful as the M-Free, but a whole lot of fun.

Need more time on Anomaly. Enforcer is a clear cut winner in the mid-90's division when it comes to power, precision, and surprising versatility. So far, I haven't felt that precision or versatility from Anomaly 94, but definitely in the 88.
