As a Porsche employee, the Macan is such an awesome car to represent. Every single one of our customers who drives the car comes back amazed at how capable it is. If you can’t afford the S, i promise, the base macan is just as fun. The keys, in order, that make this car so special is 1: the handling. 2: the transmission and then 3: the power. Even with that smaller engine, it’s still incredibly fun to drive. Nice review

Isn’t the base Macan basically an Audi Q5?

Yes still here hahaha. It was a Porsche that started it all for me too! Neighbor across the street had a 996 4S that he let me sit in and the rest is history! As overused a word in most car reviews as it is, “solid” is definitely an apt descriptor for a Macan. Love that Porsche sweats the driving dynamics like no one else.

I agree with you about Porsche build quality. I have a 2015 Macan S from new, now with 65,000 miles that feels like the day I bought it. Tight, not a hint of a rattle anywhere. The cabin feels like the day I drove it out of the showroom in 2015. Yearly maintenance is not cheap but with that done every year, there is nothing else to do. The brakes are original and feel almost like new but will need replacing at some point soon. I just appreciate the driving experience and quality year over year with no maintenance drama.

We just picked up a '23 Macan GTS in Python Green, nonetheless! Great review. To keep it in manual mode, there is a little 'M' button on the steering wheel next to the volume scroll. Hidden, but it's there.

Great review as always. IMO, the two best SUV’s out there if you want to really experience the real sporty SUV’s out there, it’s the Macan S/GTS or the bmw X3M

Two questions. 1) Is the 20-30% price premium over something like an X3m40i or Audi SQ5 worth it? Especially since a loaded macan S is just about $90k which is x5 M60i or SQ7 money; and 2) How much of your driving impression is related to the PTV Porsche torque vectoring because no dealer stocks Macan S cars with it.
