2022 RAM Horn Honk Feature Disabled

Yep. I pulled the fuse shortly after getting my 2023 Gladiator. I imagine I'll put it back in when I get the vehicle inspected this week, because I'm pretty sure the horn needs to work here in PA. There was one instance I wish I had it though. Someone ahead of me didn't notice the light had turned green. So it has its negatives. I was hoping you had come up with a better option. The only other way I've seen is a program changer$$$

I've gotten into the habit of not closing my door. I just leave it wide open. Maybe one day a raccoon will jump in the truck while I'm hooking my trailer at 4:00 in the morning.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2022 2500 diesel Longhorn Limited (same color as yours). I complained to my dealer a week after I received my new truck about these 3 honks. I asked the dealer what in the heck were they thinking when they put this ridiculous (feature) on the truck, with no way to gracefully disable it. I wrote a complaint to Ram as part of my “new truck comments” feedback. (Haven’t heard back and hot holding my breath.) I generally leave my house in the early morning with a trailer connected the night before. I always start my tow vehicle, step out with the engine running (warming up) and walk the trailer to do a light check before leaving. (Some times I may step out a second time to check on something.) I am sure this ridiculous feature wakes up my neighbors and certainly annoys the heck out of me. I hope Ram makes it easy to disable this feature through the uConnect console and not require me to go through the ODB2 port (which has its own issues including that security interlock). Anyway, thanks for your video (and sorry for my rant)! Keeping my fingers crossed that Ram will address this wart soon.

Same. I have a 2022 6.4L and I remember to leave the key in the truck most of the time...BUT everytime I have my son sleeping in the carseat, it never fails I forget keys in my pocket 🤦‍♂️

@@tex_gil117 I responded to an email I received from Ram a few weeks after I received my truck (delivered a week before Christmas after a 5-1/2 months wait.) The email contained a link to a survey about how I liked various features of my new Ram. There was a general comments section on the survey and that is where I put my “feedback” comments. Besides the triple-honk, I complained about how flakey the uConnect 5 system is (that is a whole other problem for me, constant black screen and reboot), the passenger side rear view mirror is almost useless, and the windshield rear-view mirror is ridiculously huge and gets in the way so much that I find myself having to dip my head to look under it. This is my first truck (and Ram) and expect more thoughtful engineering from an $85k vehicle.

@@pennk4 that's crazy. I have had zero issues with uconnect. I love the mirrors, except I wish I got the electric options for them because I have to reach to manually bring them in when I park it in my shop.

I went into the dealership a few times, they told me it was a safety feature in case u left your vehicle running with your kid in the car. Guess it’s better to shut it off and leave them in the vehicle.

What a pain in the ass this is!!! I was shuffling trailers/boats etc around in my yard this weekend getting ready for winter and this feature drove me nuts!!!!!

Not having remote start in my tradesman makes this annoying at 5:00 in the morning for my family…I wonder if it would make more sense for me to override the door open/closed sensor? Not an option for auto running boards for you though.

There are 3 ways you can stop this from happening. What you need to do is before you close the door. Put you key fob up to your window then close your door. Or you can put your key fob on top of your truck and then close your door. Or put your key fob on your front window then close your door. This will stop that annoying 3 blow horn. This will help you all.

I can't figure out what they where thinking. I didn't buy a 1 ton to casually drive around town, I don't need help reminding myself that my key is in my pocket. My neighbors don't need to be reminded that my keys are in my pocket as well. I'm not about to shut the rig off just to hook a trailer up. I wonder if we can lemon law this and take the trucks back. Lol

Yeah...that would be nice. This stuff is showing up in my feed because the last two days I've been searching what to do about the head unit in my truck being dead for the second time. 22 Cummins....48k miles.....head unit replaced just last year.

Good video. Sucks this feature ain’t easier to disable. It’s a giant pain in the ass. Especially for us working folks who work at all times and areas. To be honest if I knew this feature would be this much a pain I may have chosen a different Truck

Great workaround! I like the easy idea of the relay, only thing I would do different is not make the switch come on automatically, I would just push it before exiting the truck on those occasions I would need to, that way everything works normal Most of the time and I only bypass when needed. this was a really great way to easily make it stop when I need it to! -Thanks!!

The others have done it for years.. Ford has to be turned off with Forscan. Gm actually let’s you turn it off in vehicle settings.

Ram needs to provide software to delete this feature. It's annoying as hell. Hooking up a trailer in the AM and not annoying the neighbors. Good luck. The whole point of having the keyless fob is convenience. This makes you leave the key in your vehicle (Here ya go thieves) or shut it off every time you step out. And when it goes off, it's just an announcement to thieves that you stepped out of your vehicle and it's still running, COME TAKE ME. It's a bullsh&t feature. It's not protecting anything by letting you know your stupid for leaving it run in a place or situation you shouldn't. If you really need this, then I wonder about your other decisions in life. Ram makes a great truck, but this "Feature" is my real gripe with the product. Tried getting Ram to delete, but they send a statement saying "It's a feature that can't be removed, sorry for the inconvenience." Total bull crap. Sorry for the rant LOL...

This is great but I was hoping to find a way to disable it without interaction....maybe the relay to the horn stays open while the interior lights are on. Once you put it in Drive or the interior lights go out, the relay closes allowing horn operation. Granted, tire full alerts may not work but that isn't a priority for me.

No it's definitely loud. It's full honks. I park my 22' in my 3 bay shop and after I pull it out I have to get back out and close the bay door. 60% of the time I forget key is in my pocket and it annoyingly honks. Mind you, I leave for work at 4am...not very ideal. It's just a very dumb problem that Ram could have easily found a easy solution to.

If you step out of the truck and stay close to it and lock it with the key fob it won't honk.

I wish they had a “Make my Truck behave like it’s 1975!” feature. I’ve owned 3 new Rams since 2016 and hate all the beeps, and lights, and delays…. And don’t ever open the door to help see the trailer when backing up!!!

Do you like having just one horn working? I have a 21 2500 PW and like you said mine doesn't have the horn honk when I walk away from the truck with the keys. Did the power side steps unning boards come with the truck or did you install an aftermarket step, eg AMP?

I have a slightly different horn honk complaint on my 22 Rebel GT. I am trying to turn off the lock/unlock honk feature. My horn is just too loud. I go to the settings on my 12” screen and have no problem finding the off-1 press-2press selections. I have mine set to off but it still chirps ! Do I need to take this to the dealer? Thx.
