My main takeaway from the 100 free at this years euros was how Milak was able to beat Olympic silver medalist Miressi (in the relay) and world champinoship silver medalist Grousset, who were basically training for this event (the 100 free) their entire life, with about 6 weeks of concentrating on freestyle between worlds and euros. I don't think that 47.47 is even close to how fast he can go.

Great takeway! I am sure he can be faster than 47.47 as he said in a post-race interview that he didn't even care if it was a NR or not, his goal was to make a time around 47s to be able to compete in Paris in this event. Now I think he said this because he didn't check the schedule at that moment, maybe he will change his mind but it was so inspiring to hear his targeted time, around 47s for a 200fly specialist? This is just insane and only Milak is gonna get it done. I totally agree the 47.47 was shocking in its own as he not only beat some world-class 100free specialists as you said like a dark horse (knowing his PB was only 48 from last year and he made a 48.8 in prelim, basically no one rooted for him before this race), he also created such a shock for us spectators (of course his result was overshadowed by Popovici's WR) still, think about how he was sick for twice at the beginning of this year and how he only pulled himself up quickly and focused on free for 6 weeks... He even said 100 is not his most fav distance as 200... he's about to drop some bigger games next year...

I also hope his progress in sprinting free can be beneficial to his 100 fly. His weakness used to be his start which is now much improved and he has gained more muscles than before, gaining that raw power. Hope this does not sacrifice his back-half split by going faster in the first 50. With Dressel returning for Fukuoka, I hope he can fight a tough battle with him.

@@kristofmilakupdates His start, turns and underwaters have improved so drastically (in just one year) that experts of several swimming related mediums place him among the worlds best in these areas. I think he can drop major time in the 100 fly still since that event wasn't even in the focus this year owing to the illnesses and short recovery period he had. Even the 200 fly has potential to improve since the current wr swim was terribly, horribly paced. And about that 200 free... I was immensely annoyed by that schedule which prevented him from getting into the finale, because it's long past time his pb in that event drops to something that starts with 1:44 (or possibly 1:43...).
@almosdrozdik67382 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah and coming back to his start: he made up the distance between him and the french anchor, even overtook him in the 200 free relay at euros from two body lengths behind just with his start. It's safe to say he improved xd.

@@almosdrozdik6738 Here are my personal opinions: - 200 free: Yes the schedule was bad, had he been given 30 min or 1 hour to rest, the result would've been totally different, maybe a 1:45 mid or sth. Another thing to blame was in the same morning he went all out in the 200free prelim in 1:46.2 and then he also swam the 4x100 prelim (though I know the field in 4x100 was tougher than 4x200 to make the final). To be eliminated in 200free semi was very unfortunate and I also feel bad for him especially after knowing the silver and bronze winning times. I think he can definitely make a 1:44 mid or high, but a 1:44 low or 1:43...hmm... not sure yet. He has a bumpy freestyle (unlike his butterfly) and has problems pacing it well, as I've noticed he always rushes the first 50 (in 23s) and getting slowlier coming back (27s) both in relay and in individual event, not putting much effort in his kick... which was obvious in his 100free as well but as there are only 2 laps, he made it to the end, with 4-lap 200free he needs to learn it.

Ez a 47.76 új egyéni csúcs fantasztikus Miláktól, csak így tovább a döntőben is. Hajrá Kristóf! 💪

Who is this "commentator"? He was at the Junior Worlds last week. No words can describe how terrible he is.
@kristofmilakupdates2 жыл бұрын
Completely agreed. He is very bad and very biased. He sounds like the same one from 2018 Glasgow European Champs kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5DMlaaklrGli5I, mocking Kristof as "Kristof Leclos"...

@@kristofmilakupdates I doesnt care If he is biased. But a commentator has to know a lot about every swimmer. At the euros, he is fine... But for example at junior worlds in Peru, he only no Popovici, and simply no other. Sadly the line-up for nations were terribel thanks to the nonsense location and nonsense move by the americans and australians, but in a small field like that where only like a 1,5 dozen talentad swimmers competed, he should have been way better.
@kristofmilakupdates2 жыл бұрын
@@ferencorosz9753 Well what you wrote in the first paragraph is the definition of “biased” and it was already obvious at Euros, in this particular match of 100 freestyle semifinal, that he only cared about Popovici.

@@ferencorosz9753 Yeah… He should be “by default” British judging from his accent… But the way he overhyped Popovici is as clumsy and as ridiculous as many other swimming media outlets nowadays… (mostly those on KZbin and Twitter, the worst) They have been doing this for months now…
