They are only as good as their implementation. Ultimately, better design and making things as simple and user friendly as possible goes a long way.

@baylinkdashyt2 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, that "wrong firmware" one, #2?, amounts to "we the manufacturer shipped the wrong code, properly signed, and it could fail the airplane and kill all the people". How is that not a) an EAD, and b) something which forces a regulatory review of how the manufacturer manages that process?
@tomstravels5202 жыл бұрын
It is slightly over exaggerated and talking about the worst possible scenario which was still unlikely to occur. Even if the PRIM’s all failed most of the controls can still be operated by the 1 of 3 SEC’s. The main reason it had to be brought up was because if the aircraft dispatched with one SEC inoperative (sometimes allowed) then a failure of the PRIM could mean loss of redundancy

What would a winglet detachment do to the controllability of an Embraer?
@explorenaked2 жыл бұрын
Nothing really. The avionics/pilots would adjust for the loss. However, someone on the ground might not have a good day.
@Alb4102 жыл бұрын
Nothing, the problem is if it hits someone on the ground.
@paulshields22202 жыл бұрын
If it’s a longer flight and it happens early on and they have minimal extra fuel they would have to land early as fuel economy could suffer and autopilot or the crew would adjust for the increase drag on that side wing. It’s highly unlikely that it would effect the actual wing structure to crash the plane.
