I think at the end, Lewis was on used softs that had 3 more laps on them, because of pitting earlier. We have yet to hear if he had damage that was effecting his pace, but that may have played a role too, but I tend to think that having those tires with a few more laps on them was probably the bigger factor, if indeed there was some damage to his car that effected performance.

George's maximum point weekend was absolutely amazing and it's a shame that his faultless races are overshadowed by the petty Red Bull drama. Yeah he made a mistake in quali but his first lap was good enough for P3. Then he raced Max brilliantly for the win in the Sprint. In the Grand Prix he aced the start, aced the first SC restart, had great pace, controlled the race, aced the second SC restart with Hamilton right up his gearbox, and didn't make a single mistake in the last 11 laps, and kept Lewis out of DRS. And also got fastest lap. What a dominant performance

@mrtruth5192
@mrtruth5192 Жыл бұрын
@@mikko3 He went into T1 with massive over speed, and a huge late brake (which was the only reason he even got along side Lewis. This over-speed compromised his entry into T2. (The FIA document confirms this). As such he wasn't even entitled to racing room. Because he had to brake much harsher into T1, he had much less traction on exit than the Merc. Hence why Max lost control of his car when attacking the Kerb of T2. Ultimately causing the contact. To make matters worse for Max. If you draw his natural racing line from his onboard at T2, it relies on driving through Hamiltons car to make the corner. If you draw the same line and move Hams car another metre to the left...it still goes directly through Hamiltons car. Proving, even if he didn't compromise his exit/ entry, the move wouldn't have been on anyway. But the kicker is, Lewis didn't even need to leave any space, because max wasn't entitled to racing room (due to his previously mentioned compromised exit of T1/ entry of T2. Max even admitted to seeing there would be no room, but went for it. That's Max's fault. George tried the same move on Max, George saw Max closing the door, George backed out. This is what Max should have done. One final reason it was 100% Max's fault, again comes from Max's own mouth in 2018. When he was racing against Ocon. Ocon did a carbon copy move to Max. Identical to what Max did to Lewis on Sunday. Everyone (including Max) rightly agreed it was Ocon who was 100% to blame. Just like this weekend Max was 100% to blame. You can't have it both ways.

Toto Wolf even admitted in multiple occassion that Perez going on a long endurance stints was a threat that disrupted Lewis pit stop strategy leaving him vulnerable to Max's overcut in races like Paris and US. Considering how close the championship was last year. Perez taking the first place in Baku while forcing Lewis to commit a major mistake which left him pointless could have the determine the championship even before Abu Dhabi.

You couldn’t be more wrong about the max/Lewis incident. Max knew he was going to crash into Lewis (his words). Max didn’t make the corner himself and how many times did Lewis back out last season but you keep saying that neither back out when they’re in track together when apart from silverstone Lewis backed out every time last season!
@koenarts8684

And exactly that is what makes this an important move from Verstappen for the future. This way all can see that he hasn't changed his driving style in this easy season. So everybody knows he will still never back out and rather crashes than back out. This is going to bring him important points in the future when the championship will be closer. Just wait and see......

Silverstone is exactly what Max did in turn 2. Going inside regardless of what the outside car will do. Lewis decided he was putting his car in that corner, and if max wants to turn in, so be it. Worked out for him, and it’s been the mindset ever since. Max has always been that way, and Lewis simply isn’t ever going to give him an inch ever again, if they wreck they wreck. Honestly could have penalized BOTH of them. Lewis knew full well that he was turning into a collision as much as max knew he was driving into one

I wonder if they will change their mind now the stewards released their justification as to why they gave max the penalty. Basically said that he tried to overtake in turn 1 by braking late, but didn’t manage to as Ham was still ahead. Meant he was going too fast into 2, didn’t try and brake and as he wasn’t ahead Ham is entitled to the racing line. Before this year, yes Ham would have had to leave room so would be 50/50 fault racing incident. But they changed it to stop them just divebombing with no intention of making the corner and then saying well we were side by side at the apex so I’m entitled to room. In the sprint George tried the exact move Max did but when he realised he wasn’t ahead in turn 1 and max was going to take the racing line, he lifted and got in the slip stream and tried again.

The Ham/Ver penalty was so clear cut, and I think most people are missing the point. It's not about the space being given or not, it's that Verstappen came in too fast and at an angle that meant he wouldn't have made the corner even if Hamilton wasn't there. He was only alongside because he fully compromised T2 by going super fast around T1. Going into T2 at a speed and angle that means you won't make the corner is dangerous driving. Doing it when someone else is on the racing line is absolutely terrible (ie. deliberately crashing into someone....). If anything the penalty should have been stronger.

Okay, a couple of things. Apparently Verstappen's penalty was basically because the overtaking rules are just too strict and don't even take two-turn combinations into account. Yuki not able to unlap himself before the restart was because F1 completely automated the system to prevent an Abu Dhabi 2021 situation. But when he went for a pit stop at the start of the SC period he virtually unlapped himself somehow. The system then didn't allow another unlapping and race direction didn't bother to check if there any issues. Nice job there.

What? Max was overspeeding into a corner could not make it stick did not have a racing line, steered into the racing line, hamilton only needs to leave enough room for 1 tyre on the track and one to the curb, max said he new they would crash but did not want to brake to stop han from winning in a interview, i don't know what to say about max apart from he is a POS to everyone and his team mate.

Bottas was stamped as 2nd driver for most of Mercedes time, but Lewis still let him thru when told... Max thinks hes bigger than the team.

Maxs move on Lewis is literally the flip of what ocon did to him and max was ready to throw hands over that

Yeah but max was probably not mad cause he made a "wrong" overtaking move, he was mad ocon made a move at all. He didnt expect ocon to make a move on the leader trying to unlap himself haha

Ocon had no right to attempt that risky move when he was a lap down.

Max further alongside and you know actually fighting for position. Ocon was a lap down trying to unlap, its totally different. 100% racing incident. I don't care what the stewards say. Max did some boneheaded, indefensible stuff yesterday but it wasn't for that move.

@@Dam_Noir yes a risky move. So why did max try it. He knew he didn’t have the pace to actually keep that position and he knew Lewis wasn’t about to back out so why did he do it
@Dam_Noir

@@pinocchio4291 it's a risky move just to unlap yourself, not necessarily for racing position. That's also not taking into account that Ocon wasn't as far alongside either. I would prefer to see drivers attempt an overtake irregardless of any pace deficits, unlike you.
