2022 Shimano Bantam and 2018 Bantam MGL Comparison

Just Pickup up a New 2022 Shimano Bantam MGL A XG, since I had a 2018 Shimano Bantam MGL, thought I would have it side by side to see some similarity and some differences. Watch if you are thinking of buying one, see if the new one is worth it for you. Will be doing some cast battle video for these 2 reel really soon here.

Look up viton o rings , measure what size you need with a digital caliper. Amazon , ebay , etc. They are the strongest o rings you can buy.

I am wondering if you will be able to use older main gear and pinion gears on your new 2022 Bantam???? cause I am thinking to buy 5.5 gear ratio to use on the Bantam 2022. Let me know and thanks in advance.

If you check the part number on both diagrams, they are the same exact parts numbers

@@wirinharwirjawan6422 if by older you mean the 2018 then yes the. 18 and 22 used the same gears, as long as you replaced gears as a set you can change it to the 5.5

I had same issue with one of two reels I just received from Asian Portal. Gasket (o ring) was bad/broken on one of the reels when I opened it to do initial brake settings. Unfortunately, it was past 30 days since I received the reels so I’m SOL.

Are the drag systems the same for those two models? I am thinking about purchasing the clicking drag of 18 bantam to insall in the 22 bantam. Thanks.

I don’t think the 18 had a drag clicker on it, is it a custom one?

The drag wash are a different size, so it might be different, the key plate will be different

Do you know if the bantam 2022 comes with the power handle in 8:1 ratio?

No power handle, just a longer handle then the lower ration, I believe it is 90mm instead of 84mm

Yes Digitaka sent me a whole new side plate, Yes the reel with still work fine without the ring

Yes,it is the exact same gear, part number BNT5606 for both

Looking back At the Diagram that look like it, but the picture show the ring with a little tab on it, I can't say 100% as I have not order the ring yet myself

Is these a difference in the lineguide? Would the lineguide be interchangable?

They do look slightly different I have not tried swapping them so I do not know exactly, When I have some time I will try to swap them to see if they will fit

Had the same issue? I’m not sure of the exact size, but if the 22 bantam is still out of stock you can order the 2018 one, different part number but seem to work when I swap it over

Does both reel hold the same line capacity? Whats the heaviest lure u cast for the 2018 model ?

Exactly the same specs, 150 spool size, same drags 11lbs, I don’t know the heaviest lure but I throw out 2oz swimbait just fine

My pick would be the 2022, the spool is more narrow and much easier to thumb for me
