This is Tesla's entry-level Model 3. It has the least range, the least amount of motors and comes with the cheapest price tag. Is it worth buying in 2022? There's a lot of strong alternatives on offer today, so let's find out what makes the Model 3 such a competitive EV.

as a base m3 owner i agree with ur drive assessment, i do feel the suspension doesnt handle bumps that well as u can really feel them inside the car, despite good seats. Overall tho very happy with the car, esp the LFP battery for longevity

I will correct you on one point, The base model RWD does come with Autopilot, but of course it only comes with Full Self Driving, if you pony up the FSD fee of $12000. The advantage of the RWD is that it has the new battery chemistry which enable 100% state of charge and better longevity of battery life. Up to 750000 miles.

I just got mine, and it only took 4 weeks after ordering. I like that the LFP battery is safer and longer lasting, and this model priced perfectly compared to other EVs. I will probably use the money I saved on the purchase towards the FSD upgrade. The range actually plenty, considering you can charge the LFP batteries to 100% daily versus 90% on the NCA long range. I also don't care that the 0-60 is a bit slower, as I am not going drag racing, and the power is plenty for normal driving.

It's a great EV for the price for sure.
@damo5701
@damo5701 2 жыл бұрын
Price has gone up $4k in the last couple of months. Over a similar period State Governments like NSW have offered incentives/subsidies of $3k and a reduction of stamp duty. Interesting, may just be a coincidence as supply issues etc have caused prices to rise across many sectors. However, many pundits said if you give subsidies manufacturers will just increase the price by a commensurate amount, like new homes with the first time homeowner incentives.
@ProductReviewCars
@ProductReviewCars 2 жыл бұрын
A fair point. There are some manufacturers that have done just that here in Aus. Just hope we can see incentives other than just cost subsidies. Like how the ACT allows EVs to travel in transit lanes.

im thinking to get the (base) or LR... is the 0-100km a big difference ? im driving a SUV, but sometimes i wanna have some speed
@ProductReviewCars
@ProductReviewCars 2 жыл бұрын
There's a considerable difference. Only felt if you drive the cars back to back. The base model has plenty of go. But if you want something just a little spicier, the LR has a sub 5 second 0-100km/h time (plus AWD grip).
@BrowncoatFairy
@BrowncoatFairy 2 жыл бұрын
actually, traffic would have made you more likely to reach your destination, not less. Due to the regenerative brakes, you lose very little efficiency in stop and go traffic, and the one-speed electric drivetrain is FAR more efficient at low speeds than it is at highway speeds. The result is you wind up experiencing far MORE range in heavy traffic conditions than on an open highway. It's a bit counter-intuitive, especially for people who are used to gas cars.
@ProductReviewCars
@ProductReviewCars 2 жыл бұрын
This is very true. Those long drives make you really appreciate the more aerodynamic features of your car to maximise range.
@stevenr3544
@stevenr3544 Жыл бұрын
That cant be possible as it means that the car is generating energy out of nothing, the regenerative braking isnt perfect which means some energy will be lost. If it gets more range from driving in heavy traffic it will break the laws of thermodynamics.
@BrowncoatFairy
@BrowncoatFairy Жыл бұрын
@@stevenr3544 obviously you can't literally gain kilowatts overall by accelerating and then slowing down -- that would violate the first law of thermodynamics. What i'm saying is driving slowly in stop and go traffic is actually far more efficient in an EV than driving at a steady highway speed. It's because EVs are much most efficient at low speeds, even when you account for accelerating and decelerating, than they are at high speeds. Thus, when you drive in stop and go traffic, your expected range will INCREASE relative to what the typical projected range of the vehicle is. For example, my Plaid gets about 390 miles to a charge. On the highway, it's really more like 300 miles. Driving around the city, I can easily increase that by 50%. It's counter-intuitive because we are used to thinking of highways as the most efficient application for a car due to gas cars being so inefficient at low speeds. But like i said, from real world experience driving up 81 or 95 on the east coast, the more traffic I hit, the further my car will make it, since traffic forces me to drive slower overall, even if it involves more accelerating and slowing down.
