Have done handlebar switches and rocker switches with this setup. I’ve sent them literally all over the world. I encourage people to build their own, but I’ll send you one for $45. @dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
I'd say it consumes more than a KTM/Husky, but not substantial more. With the large 3 gal tank I can ride for quite a while. I think the tank design makes it look like it's dropping faster than it really is since it drops down behind the cylinder.

What elevation do you ride at? I just had a dealership tell me they won't order the FI 2T models because they have issues here (western Montana) also have you looked at the mapping possibilities for freezing temps, sand, high altitude etc?
@dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
So far most between 500-3000. The higher elevation trails are still closed around here. My understanding was the new FI bikes have temp, and air sensors in order for the ECU to make its own adjustments. I suppose at extreme elevation it could still be an issue. The nice thing about TMs are the ECUs are unlocked so you can change the mapping pretty easily. I haven't looked into mapping changes myself though, as it runs well.
@newmanonymity2 жыл бұрын
I am in the same spot you were prior to your purchase! I want one, but am hesitant. Are you running a mix of race gas? Since you actually have a manual, does it list the primary and 1-6 gear ratios? I have been trying to get this question answered with no luck. I even have an email out to Ralf, the importer. What are the sprocket tooth counts? How would you compare the counterbalancer effectiveness to the Husky/KTM? I wonder if your battery was not quite fully charged when you brought it home and that was causing some of the issue. I do agree, more cranking amps are needed. Thank you for any and all help you can provide.
@dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
The manual I have I downloaded from TMs website. I don't think the official 2022 manual is out yet. My dealer said race gas was not required unless I was running WOT a lot. It sounds like many TM owners run premium with between 1/3 to 1/2 race gas. I added some VP Racing octane booster to my premium. We'll see how it does 👍 As for the battery, it's well known that the stock battery does not like the cold, it is extremely small and light though, but with less CCAs. Might keep the lighter battery for the summer months. I'll have to count the sprocket teeth. KTM might be a little smoother, but honestly it is very smooth and the power is strong but very linear. Both my buddies with TE300is noted the same thing when they rode it. I'll try to answer your questions in the next video. I appreciate your comment!
@newmanonymity2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I did figure the manual wasn't out since dealers can't answer the gear ratios question either. Was hoping you had that unicorn though! Edit: I figured out the gear ratios. For those that may care. Primary is 19/57, 1st is 13/30, 2nd is 16/26, 3rd is 19/24, 4th is 20/21, 5th is 18/16, and 6th is 23/18. Secondary is whatever sprockets you have. I used the parts microfiche to piece this together.

@@dtr_downtoride Nice to see TM 2022 content on KZbin. KTM or Husky are bikes 'ready to ride' TM's are 'ready to race' machines that's why they are more aggressive. Another thing to notice is the quality of TM is top notch. TM for example uses Excel rims while KTM or Husky you only see this type of rims on Billy Bolt Husky or Mani KTM and for normal consumers they just sell standard rims. @dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellpaterson7062 the mapping seems great. The only cold start issue it has is the starter free spinning when the battery is too cold. As for starting in gear, I rode like 5 hours on Saturday and didn't have any problems starting it while in gear. I think the main problem was that my Midwest clutch lever has a little drag when the bike/clutch fluid is cold. The clutch plates themselves probably need to wear is a bit too. Does this TBI system have the oil pump like in KTM's TPI? Or do you just pour premixed gasoline straight to tank? How does TBI work exactly?
@dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it has an oil pump. They moved the oil reservoir from the frame to a tank under the seat for 2022. I think they go with oil pumps on fuel injection as the oil can build up and plug the injectors. The oil reservoir lasts a long time though.
@dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
TBI (throttle body injection) have the fuel injection located where a carburetor would be. TPI (transfer port injection) has the injectors mounted on the head. TPI burns cleaner to meet EPA requirements, but lacks the low end power of a carburetor. TBI is kind of the best of both worlds, no jetting and good low end. Hear talks that KTM will switch to TBI as well, not sure if it's true though.
@HalfHourOfPower2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it doesn’t idle high enough
@dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
I agree, the manual says to turn the (choke) knob to increase the idle. I've turned it a couple clicks, so it is idling a bit higher, but if I'm not mistaken, this knob is just richening or leaning out the fuel mixture in order to change the idle speed, Like on the KTM and Husky TPIs, this makes me a little hesitant to turn the knob too much. I'd prefer to not lean it out a bunch in order to increase the idle... is my understanding incorrect? Please let know if you have experience with TMs this is my first 👍

Nice review. Seems like it has a very smooth low/mid. Those MME clutch levers are hard to get perfectly dialed. I've noticed the one on my 701 seems to readjust itself over time. Probably needs more loctite on the adjustment screw.
@dtr_downtoride2 жыл бұрын
The power is very linear on the TM. It is very impressive. I think this is most due to it having an electronic power valve vs a mechanical one. The power valve mapping also changes based on the gear the bike is in, which is very cool. As for the MME, they are a little finicky and the engagement point moves a bit depending on the temp of the bike. The set screw can move like you said as well.
@samtoshner80022 жыл бұрын
@@dtr_downtoride yup definitely crucial to only adjust the engagement point when the bike is fully warmed up. That's really cool about the electronic power valve and gear based mapping - pretty advanced stuff, especially for a smaller brand like TM. No more swapping colored springs!
