2022 Toyota GR86 Premium Review

I got this car (premium black) a couple weeks ago. I got to say I don't fully understand some of the minor "complaints" I've seen in this and other reviews, mainly because we're talking about a 30k car. No turbo...ok so that would increase the price of the car (lol), some ppl don't want it enough to justify the cost it would add. Infotainment...looks fine in this car, if you buy a car like this expecting a 15 inch screen and something beyond being able to play music/podcasts or connecting to car play/android auto...then you should spend more money and get another car. The steering wheel...not a big deal whatsoever. The interior is actually nicer than I anticipated, yes there are some cheaper components...again its a 30k car (lol). Some ppl want a sun roof, those ppl must not understand that these things cost money..lol. I'd advise ppl who are interested in this car, listen to these reviews for a general idea of what to expect, but don't base your interest solely on what reviewers say.

I dont think there is another drivers car out there that i’d prefer at any price point. This car is just about perfect. NA engine, 2800lbs, near 50/50 weight distro, a manual, and a clean design. Toyota just needs some Porsche colors. Need more vibrant unique color options

Current issue with the BRZ/86 models is the excess silicon along the oil pan clogging up the oil pickup tube which is causing some engine failures. Serious issue that needs to be addressed. FYI :) Still waiting on mine due in November!

Finally someone has brought up if you can fit golf clubs in storage space of a sports car or a hot hatch type vehicle!! l was starting to think l was the only one who ever wondered.

Lol. Its minor complaints, but I felt that they did add up. As another commenter just stated, it is in fact a drivers car and not focused on any luxuries. I agree, but personally I like to point out the cheaper aspects of it because to me they matter, especially when looking to buy a new car. My wifes civic is basically plastic on wheels, but we still love it. I very much appreciate that cool, fun, reliable, and "affordable" cars exist.

Handles quite well actually. Which is why I make mention that at speed on curvy roads this car would be very fun. In that setting the small feeling of the car combined with the responsive steering, it would shine for sure.

Great overview and presentation skills but please use stabilization while filming, a shaking camera spoils the video a bit.

Why you slam the hood so aggressively lol Got my 2023 a week ago and love it. Have had 400+whp cars before and can’t use them. This car has enough to get in trouble and is more fun to drive for different reasons (handling)

You know...in the moment it didnt feel agressive but when i was putting the video together I was like, dang i slammed that hood good. Haha. And you make a great point. I think my problem when shooting the video was I was so excited about driving this car and i had it all hyped up in my head for months, that I allowed the acceleration to let me down when in reality, its really not that bad for a car in this price point. I still wouldnt buy one myself, but Im very happy for anyone that does and I love seeing one of these out driving on the roads. They are stunning to look at.

It's a driver focus car.. its not about a luxurious interior or an awesome stereo. It's a rear wheel drive budget sportscar. I love it for what is.. 7.5 / 10 For me.
