And the "new" Nissan Frontier, which I think looks pretty solid by the way despite pretty much the same chassis. IMHO the Tundra and Frontier need to take a lesson from Ford and offer more stand alone options like a rear locker for all 4WD trims. My current truck is a 2007 Tundra TRD offroad for those who want to call me out as a Ford fanboy.

@@specificsjsvn3350 wasn't complaining specifics, just stating that most of your "I got money look at me and my pavement princess" trucks are in the shop or being recalled for issues related to that tech. does not take a genius to understand that electronics are not rated to be in heat for prolonged periods of time, yet they want to put them in vehicles. God forbid you spoiled newbs have to turn your heads to back out of a parking spot. Just because you like to push a button to have your truck back up your trailer because you can't do it in front of your frat house buddies while adjusting your too cool aviator mirror glasses, doesn't mean the rest of the men on this planet have gone the way you and your friends have, wait, I think they are calling your number for your turn at the nail and eyebrow waxing salon.
@gatornation3889

@@Pantelifts10 I see what you are saying, however for me, resale value and cost of ownership means a lot to me. I have friends with newer f-150s and Chevy z71's that spend more time in the shop because of turbo issues on the Ford's and electrical issues on the Chevy, plus the 4x4 systems on the Chevy's are having issues. the only thing I've ever had to do to my 2016 Tundra was changed to lower radiator hose. things like that mean a lot to me because we use our truck to go off roading in the national Forest to ride our ATVs and go to the coast and I pull my boot. So the tundra fit what I needed perfectly. I also have a 22 foot flatbed trailer for anything that will not fit in the short box of the bed.

@@Togged - nope. They sell way more 5 foot beds still. I really do appreciate that it is your taste and respect that. I find the crew cab and 6.5 foot bed is just too big for off-road use. The break over angle is brutal. Needs too much of a lift to compensate and doesn’t corner as well in tight scenarios. When you have a family to fill the cab though, I can see how the 5 foot bed can be too small. I still prefer a SuperCab, or extended cab so all brands are taken into account and the 6.5 ft bed. I don’t have kids though,,,,,,. Currently driving a F150 SuperCrew PoweBoost Hybrid. Love the 7.2 kw out back for camping and have been using it since January!! I think Toyota will bring out a CrewCab with a 6.5 ft bed later in the model year. The 5 ft bed is still their bread and butter and will be for years to come. You will get your wish, I’m sure.

Ex-Toyota sales consultant here, and I must say, you have the right idea. See, a 3/4 and one ton truck is built vastly different from the 1/2 ton segment. This means, as a brand, they would have to invest in all new research, development, and manufacturing, not to mention factories to build the actual trucks. Considering that these bigger trucks really only operate in North America, it would be very difficult to spend that money for just a chance at the domestic markets heavy duty trucks.

You may think that a twin turbo v6 doesn't tow well but my dad had a 2018 F150 with the 3.5 V6 ecoboost and he towed an 8000 pound camper with it. It towed it no problem. It actually towed better than the previous 5.0 my dad had. It also makes most of it torque low down. I will miss the V8 in the Tundra. They really should keep it as an option. It will probably be the most reliable turbo charged V6 on the market and that could take sales away from ford.

Ford added these and the super cab truck then did well in the overlap crash testing. Toyota never or only recently installed these simple metal parts that keep the front tires from entering the cab causing horrible leg injuries. Look at the crash testing results! I think it is crazy that a company could build a full size truck that does worse then the same company’s smaller cars in crash testing! You're telling me that you'd rather buy 2 extra cylinders for the sound it makes than saving a potential $10000+ of the fuel savings over the time you have the vehicle or a warranty runs out, and not to mention the torque specs will be higher at way less than half the rpms of the current model? Or rather even greater than that and competition with a battery package that than has increased savings and a warranty that pair with it?
