I hope they are best in class for crash safety. Because the Tundra has been very terrible in crash testing for the it’s entire run up to this point. The gas mileage is pretty bad too, especially for a half ton truck. I hope they upgrade the toothpick axles also.

@pauldiesel45823 жыл бұрын
Ford had their issue with the F150 super cab not having the tire deflector steel members installed with the supercab but did with the super crew cab with corresponding poor and excellent results. Ford added these and the super cab truck then did well in the overlap crash testing. Toyota never or only recently installed these simple metal parts that keep the front tires from entering the cab causing horrible leg injuries. Look at the crash testing results! I think it is crazy that a company could build a full size truck that does worse then the same company’s smaller cars in crash testing! Don’t tell me how reliable your truck is if it can’t survive a serious crash and instead folds up like a beer can!

Toyota’s newer vehicles do very well in crash tests
@pauldiesel45823 жыл бұрын
IIHS crash test of a 2019 Toyota Tundra scored “Poor” in overlap crash testing. So for 12+ years Toyota did nothing to the truck structure to make it safer knowing this newer test was coming and people’s lives were at stake! Toyota learned little from their past safety debacles!

It sounds like everyone complaining in this comment section is buying a truck for what others think about the truck they bought. You're telling me that you'd rather buy 2 extra cylinders for the sound it makes than saving a potential $10000+ of the fuel savings over the time you have the vehicle or a warranty runs out, and not to mention the torque specs will be higher at way less than half the rpms of the current model? Or rather even greater than that and competition with a battery package that than has increased savings and a warranty that pair with it? Sounds like I'll have more options to choose from when I'm ready to buy one

If the Tundra is going to “Dominate” the new V6 turbo better have higher HP and Torque numbers than the current V8 you mentioned in your video it would be as good as the V8. I know a good 8-10 speed transmission will help as well.

I have a couple things influencing me on my next truck purchase. I own a 2008 Tundra with 195K miles that still looks and runs fine. I use the truck for my consulting business and can write off the purchase of a truck if I buy a new one. I am planning to retire next year so I would like to use the tax credit this year. Although I am looking at other trucks (probably would only consider GM) my Tundra has been very reliable and I would have no problem getting another one. I have been waiting for the new generation because I would prefer higher MPG (hybrid sounds interesting) but if I could get a 2021 at a discount over the 2022 that pays for the lower gas mileage I would be fine with that.

What does a real truck look like to you? Yes the current model looks like a real truck body, but how do you expect them to make a whole new truck and yet keep the same design. They need to redesign it to something completely different and from what I can tell the back looks still very similar, but the front finally has some good accents.
