The Speed Twin is without a doubt the ultimate motorcycle.

Just found your video and started watching. Stopped to comment that I also have a Tracer 900 GT (2018) and I'm looking at the Speed Twin as a second bike for shorter rides around the countryside. I'll keep watching now.

Honestly this is one of the better Speed Twin "what's it about" videos on YT. Had a 765RS (it was just so _gentle_ until 8K), have the new Speed Triple currently.

@@TheSunderlands1 Speed Twin arrived finally, relaxing bike to cruise around on. What I miss most from the Street Triple was the "intake bark" especially when working the quick shifter, I really do miss that sometimes.

My Puig Vision universal windscreen in dark smoke/black will be here next week. I'm planning on some higher speed sustained runs on my '22 Speed Twin. I'm dign the crash bars and think I'm gonna order some. Yes, the great low speed tourqe and broad powerband these bikes have make them extremely engaging to ride!
@TheSunderlands12 жыл бұрын
Would be interesting to see how it deflects the air. Just took a look at the website, the Vision looks similar to the Windy, the latter being one piece that can come in all clear or all smoke, not too bad looking. I wish they made a quick release for these things for the times where you just want to feel the air.
@andrewbecker37002 жыл бұрын
@@TheSunderlands1 yeah, that's the main reason I chose the vision model and the dark smoke/black colors also. It comes in like 6 different combos between the actual screen and the little separate see through part. My bikes Storm Grey but still has alot of satin black and brushed aluminum. If the black part of the windscreen is too shiny I might tryn scuff it up a bit to knock down the gloss.

How much less precise would you rate the Speed Twin vs the Street Triple? I own a Street Triple RS and thinking to switch to the Speed Twin due to the torque, i loved it, but i also love how the street triple handles.
@SquireSCA2 жыл бұрын
Did you pop out the baffles in the stock mufflers? Also, flash the ECU with TuneECU and get rid of the throttle restrictions. When you twist the throttle to 100%, it never delivers more than 90.7% power, ever. It holds back, and above 6000rpm it pulls power back even more. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJC5gIiXa9d1qJo

The Marzocchi forks make a huge difference compared to previous generation. Overall very tasty bike, very expensive though.

Hi! nice review on the speed twin. I am planning on upgrading from my ninja 400 next year and I have been looking at this bike and the Trident 660; then they announced the Tiger Sport 660. I can only afford one motorcycle. Anyways 98% of the time my ride is commuting on freeway, speeds 75 - 85 mph for like an hour one way, everyday and splitting lanes. I want a more comfortable bike for commuting. In your opinion should I get the Trident 660 because its cheaper and still looks like a baby classic but it will suck on the commute (naked); get the tiger 660 for an all rounder or just YOLO and get this bike? Thanks in advance. :)
@TheSunderlands12 жыл бұрын
Frankly if you’ll be doing mostly commuting, the more we’ll-rounded bike for that might be the Tiger 660 due to its more relaxed riding position, windscreen, and ability to attach saddlebags if you choose at one point. Of course it will sit higher, so you’d have to determine if you like that or not. The Trident makes sense if you are willing to handle the wind at that speed and will never use saddle bags. I’m sure you can find a universal windscreen if it bothers you. The Speed Twin seems like overkill for commuting, you likely won’t use all the HP on tap.

Love this bike but what a miss not adding cruise control. Any new Harley you can simply add CC, do you know if CC can be added?
@TheSunderlands12 жыл бұрын
Not sure if a simple reflash would work. The throttle grip doesn’t have the slight forward movement that other Triumph bikes have to cancel out cruise control, but the clutch or brake would cancel it out if it could be programmed. The other issue is that the controls don’t seem to have the separate capability to set cruise control….

Crazy I am looking at both options. Tracer 9 GT and this Speed Twin. Also considered the Tiger 900GT Pro. Which bike do you prefer? 👍
@TheSunderlands12 жыл бұрын
The issue is that they are completely different bikes: the Tracer seems happier with higher revs over 5k, while the action with the Speed happens down low and you’re basically done by 6-7 rpm; the Tracer has all the electronic gadgets with adjustable suspension, heated grips, quick shifter, while the Speed is more of a bike you get on and ride and enjoy the burble of the exhaust. When I’m in a more spirited mood I’ll take the Tracer and just get into high revs and enjoy the “nervousness”; when I’m more in a mood of enjoying the back roads at lower speeds but really getting into that high torque acceleration, the Speed is quite fun. The bike that would be better all around would be the Tracer because of saddle bags, windscreen, etc etc, but if you don’t need that stuff then the Speed is a lot of fun. I sat on a Tiger and it didn’t feel right for me, maybe it’s the way my feet/legs felt a bit more cramped, but it’s a nice bike.

@@TheSunderlands1 thanks for your reply. It’s a hard choice. I want a bike that is comforts as I have a bad back following surgery. I want to be able to ride for a few hours without been really uncomfortable. I only did my licence 12 months ago and have just been riding a customised old FZ6 with bar risers. It’s reasonably comfy but want something more comfortable. I love the Tracer and Tiger but sometimes feel like I want a bike with character. I love the triumph Bobber and Speedmaster but not sure they would be comfortable either? But love the character and looks. I do like to look of the Speed Twin as well. Is the Tracer a lot quicker that the Speedtwin? Ideally it would be good to have two like you but really I need one bike that works.

Great review, personally prefer the street twin, looks tough , 900 cc , modern finish and the best retro naked available, and great for a pillion and touring bags.

I have a 2019 Street Twin myself and love it so far. Only had it a month. It came with the gorgeous Triumph brown flat, bench seat with diamond stitching(i bought used), but I must say thats not the most comfortable seat for rides that last longer than 45 mins. Are you touring with the stock seat? Or did you upgrade to a touring seat? Im not sure if I should just order the factory seat or look for something even better. Need something that will be comfortable for myself as well as my wife as pillion. We will be riding for 2-3 hours on weekends.

Great job, I have 2 touring bikes an Ultra Classic and BMW GA, and looking for a fun small bike for local backroads to play on. Having a hard time deciding between the t120 and the speed twin. There’s also the 9T, any input on these 3 ?
@TheSunderlands13 жыл бұрын
I did take a hard look at the T120, but for me it came down to looks, which of course are subjective. The T120 has that classic shape, which I like, but preferred the more sporty look of the Speed. However, the T120 does have a lot more accessories than the Speed, so that’s something to keep in mind in terms of luggage items, touring screen, etc. I did not really consider the BMW (distance of dealership at the time).
@xorbe23 жыл бұрын
@David Smith - bmw R9T pushes the power band up higher a bit and is a "360 crank" effectively (even firing timing) and a better suspension, better fueling off-idle, bigger price tag. But mostly it comes down to looks and sound preferences, since neither are performance-first machines in the end.

Very good review of your bike . I have a '09 Bonny an think about something new, so really enjoyed your video. I really like the Speed Twin... Even like the color. How many miles do you have on it, and what is your range and mileage? Keep up the good vids.
@TheSunderlands13 жыл бұрын
Good point on range and mpg, should have included that. Might get 140-150 miles when I take it somewhat easy. I had done a long stretch of highway driving and it showed I could maybe reach 170 or a bit higher, but goes down once you get on the gas in the twisties. The mpg reset when I disconnected the battery recently, but I believe I was getting about 48 mpg last I looked. The manual says I can put 87 octane (im in the USA), but I’ve been putting 89 so far.

@TheSunderlands12 жыл бұрын
Yes, both the clutch and brake levers have adjusters. But it’s not a wheel with the little numbers on it that you turn: it’s an adjusting screw. You pull the lever in to where you want it, and turn the screw to adjust the distance.
