Wow, your videos are AMAZING! You share so much information and real-world, applicable advise. I’ve only watch 3 of your videos, but each time I think “I was juuust wondering that - so helpful to know”. I find myself screenshooting your videos and jotting down notes in my phone. I spent the past few years learning how to professionally detail cars using KZbin tutorials, so I’m familiar with how-to videos and guides on learning a new skill. Your channel is up there with the best of them in terms of knowledge and helpfulness, so thank you!! Just wanted to send a shout out while I was thinking about it. I’ll be sticking around :-)

Is your paint safe for spray applications? Our paints are not intended for use in spray applications. Our paints are non-toxic in liquid form, but when sprayed, it can be broken down into small enough molecules to be breathed in. Small particles such as these can be inhaled, and may have adverse health effects.

Perfect timing with this video. Im almost done with my first project with fusion paint.( I love the way it goes on) especially after using chalk paint, but it feels a little chalky (even though it says it has a sealer built in?) Do you apply a sealer after..poly etc? I guess I'm asking if you feel it's durable enough for use ( for a buffet etc) to not seal it? I was thinking of adding some just to the top ( it's a buffet) I love the flattish look .Hopefully I can get some money together and get a sprayer ( maybe a affordable homeright just to get me going) also , space to spray is about to become a issue as snowy winters are coming soon. I love your channel and I'm learning so much. Thank you.

It is durable enough, it is a mineral paint with a built in topcoat, but because of its matte finish I think it tends to throw people a little and does feel a little chalky or dry! I like to add a topcoat for added durability but you don't have to. I have done many pieces without and no issues. General Finishes just came out with a durable flat topcoat and Fusion also has a matte tough coat. I would do the top at least if it is going to get a fair amount of use! Hello to you and thank you for this video and your honest review. I do have a few questions and am hoping beyond hope that you see this and have a moment to respond. I would like to use this paint to paint two pieces in my home = my daughters old (but still in great shape) desk that I believe is pine and was finished with a stain (likely Minwax) and sealed with a satin finish polyurethane. Other than cleaning it, removing the hardware, and giving it a light scuff sand, is there anymore prep involved? Also, since it’s a desk that she now uses as her makeup table and places a piece of beveled glass on the top (which has protected the top for years), should I also seal it after painting it? Can I place the glass back on the painted piece afterward? And most importantly, if the total cure time is 21 days, do I have to wait 21 days in order to place the glass back on top of the desk as well as the rest of her things = makeup mirror, caddy that holds her makeup and hairdryer, etc. ? I also want to paint my outside door, which is a metal door. It has been painted with an alkyd paint in the past, which isn’t peeling, but has faded and has some scrapes in it (painted teal, shows the under color of white). What prep is needed for the door and do I have to wait 21 days to rehang the door? If I hang the door and close it too soon, won’t the paint become damaged around the edges where the door closes? It is a high traffic area door but isn’t exposed to a ton of outside elements on the regular. Thank you SO much if you are able to answer these questions. I’m itching to try this paint, but do not want to regret my decision if I mess it up. PS: new subscriber and I’m heading over to your website to check out your paid tutorials.

Hi there! So the only other prep I would recommend is if you think the wood could possibly bleed (cherry, mahogany, some oaks) I would say to prime. As for your door - same prep - a good cleaning, scuff sand and I would prime the door for best adhesion over other paint. As for the cure time - I would wait that long before placing a glass top on the piece (it is off gassing in those 21-30 days of curing and best to let it breath so you have no issues with the finish). As for hanging the door - that is a preference and not necessary to wait the cure time before hanging (I would wait at least 72 hours after last coat before doing so for sure). I hope this helps and I do offer one on ones if you ever need to be walked through the project or need any other assistance 😀

Less than 1 jar. I use water to thin - not extenderI have been doing this so long - I don't measure anymore - I just know what the consistency should look like 😀 - Each sprayer will differ - I would refer to the user manual for yours and they will tell you the ratio depending on material and the sprayer you have. Using a viscosity cup is key in the beginning

Fusion a lot of people complain about brushstrokes - Wise Owl One Hour Enamel is great for spraying - brushing a little more challenging as its a fast dry formula - General Finishes is good and self leveling - but they just cut half their color line - I like Lilly Moon Opulent All in One - self leveling and brushes beautifully. Melange ONE also brushes nicely

Thank you so much for your review, I'm wondering does Fushion make the wood feel "rough" as you rub your hand across. I noticed some pieces that people have painted, have an extremely chalky, rough feel and I prefer a bit of sheen and smoothness.

Of course! Thank you for watching. Fusion is an all in one mineral paint with a built in topcoat but it is a matte finish and can have a tendency to feel a little dry/chalky because of the mineral make up and matte finish. I personally always topcoat with a water based poly for a nice sheen and better wipeability. You can also sand in between coats to knock down any roughness

I love fusion paint. I have not been successful with spraying it though. It is too thick and my sprayer just spits/splatters it. I am so envious when I watch people spray pieces with a flawless finish. It looks so simple and beautiful. I would do way more spraying as I love how quick it is and I have sprayed other paints without a problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the review update.

Hi! Thank you for watching! Spraying can be a challenge, there is a learning curve. To get a nice finish and one that pushes through my sprayer nicely - I dilute. I suggest you do that too! It makes a world of difference. I can recommend 2 things - I offer 1 on 1's - you can sit with me virtually and go over all things spraying. I also have a spray class you can purchase as well. Def dilute it with water. Just a little water. Like half a tbsp. Make sure you mix it before putting it in your spray gun. Also, make sure you are straining it. I use fusion and spraying it is so easy once you get the hang of it. :) I also put my gun on 1 or 2 setting. If I do more than that it comes out too much.

So if you are seeing brushstrokes that can come from several things - a heavy hand, not the best brush (I recommend a good synthetic brush - Zibra is a good choice at a good price point). Use a water mister bottle to help ease the application as well. YES! Sand with a high grit sandpaper 320 or above to see if you can get those ridges/brushstrokes smoothed out and then go in with a 3rd coat as suggested above 😀

Don't blame the paint for insufficient prep. I had brush marks and tried to sand them smooth. I couldn't sand it! It was hard like a rock and practically indestructible!

Each paint brand/type will be different - I would suggest using a viscosity cup (most sprayers come with them) I have been doing this so long now I just eyeball and know how it should look and feel 😀

@icecreamfever123 unfortunately, yes. Even after 6 months (plenty of curing time) my finish scratches and feels chalky.

@@gingercontreras8511 I applied three coats (dark wood, light paint color). The product apparently has a built-in topcoat so no, I didn’t purchase a separate topcoat.
