I used this for my old kitchen cabinets. They turned out so beautiful I decided to replace my countertop. Nope...bottom cabinets were not properly installed and would not support the stone I wanted. So, replaced bottom...when they ripped them out and broke them up, NOT ONE CABINET CHIPPED OR FLAKED! The paint stayed gorgeous! Not so much the cabinets😂

Can u redo a post stepping thru process and products… I also notice that in dragging the tool that gives the wood grain effect it makes exact same marks right next to each other which is only thing that makes it not look authentic - like two different patterns alternated could achieve more authentic look but I absolutely love what u produced here 👏👏👏

@ no glazing is using a decorative glaze (which is not a top protective coat in any way) they are added for look (whether they are a brown glaze or a pickled lighter finish) they come in many colors. Topcoat (I prefer water based) is your last step always in refinishing - for protection and durability

Beautiful! Question: My kitchen cabinets are stained wood on the outside and this horrible blue inside. Can I stain right over the paint? And, what color would you recommend to cover the dated 1980 wedgewood blue? Please do tell and thank you in advance!
@BorninaBarnBoutique15 күн бұрын
@@fearlessgenxer I haven’t ever done that and don’t know that would be the best idea - you will definitely want to clean the painted surface to ensure good adhesion - but SFO is a stain so it is more sheer - so it will not cover the blue color like a paint would - I always suggest doing a test section on something when you are unsure. But again, this will not cover or hide that blue unfortunately.

Hi Kimberly, when doing research into how to blend paint to achieve a faux wood look, I watched your videos (excellent). Then I had a thought of *what about used Fusion SFO over paint ????*, which of course led me here… This finish looks so similar to the paint blended technique but maybe this one is more user friendly? I’ll have to try it. Because I’ll be putting it onto a living room side table, should I put anything else on top of it once it’s fully dry for even more durability? Asking because although I have coasters to use under a glass or cup, I often see my spouse or son “forget” to use them… which I why I’ll be refinishing the table in the first place. Thank you. Your tutorials and videos are super.
@BorninaBarnBoutique15 күн бұрын
@@adeleferguson663 Hi there! So this creates a little different look than the several color paint blend but is a very nice look. It could be considered easier yes as it’s just 2 products and no real blend is being created for a look. SFO does take longer to dry especially in cooler temps. Once dry SFO is very durable - of course nothin is impervious to water (if left behind or sitting on surface) you can top coat over it for more durability once completely dry and you can also “topcoat” with natural SFO

Sometimes the wood cannot be stained straight away (too much damage, maybe a thin veneer that burned through when sanding or not wood - a lot of pieces in the 60's-70's were made with a laminate/formica top.
