Just test drove a 22 GTI and currently drive a Focus ST. This confirms my suspicions that the GTI has more power at the top end, but my ST certainly felt torquier in the mid-range and drops off a cliff. I really enjoyed the GTI - it's VERY refined and the suspension tuning is magic.

Great video. If you still talk to the kid, make sure he doesn't go aftermarket coils. Stock coils are great up over 500HP. Best things for the 2.0EB is a big turbo, intercooler, and a good exhaust. Once they breathe you can really get some power. After that, he'd have to get more fuel before anything else. Stock coils are actually good (which I never liked ford coils before lol)

The mk7 Gti was actually quicker with the manual because of the longer gearing, but the Mk8 is quicker with the dsg. Still, the manual would get the tuned focus st. These new Gti’s are quick

Power band on ST stock turbo only peaks at 5200-5500 RPM, gotta short shift and stay in the meaty mid-range on them

Wild it took that long to find it. The ST, FBO, can walk a stock GTI with the DSG. You just have to know how to drive them. The ST driver was pushing well past the power band that the ST has with a stock turbo. Stratified does some quality tuning (even their "OTS" tunes). But with an intercooler and a decent tune on 93 you'll get 350ish WHEEL torque. However, if you ever dyno them you'll know that drops RAPIDLY and the 2.0EB just doesn't have the horsepower to keep up. Quicker shifts and at the right RPM (I find about 5700rpm perfect), he would gap the DSG. That said, a tuned GTI with the DSG, the ST has zero chance lol. Those things are damn quick once you start tuning on them.

If ur looking for a cheap mod for gains do the inlet pipe and siclone intake pipe you will get some gains and turbo sounds

"pops and bangs" is actually tuned on the lift side of your torque request map. It has zero effect on the performance side of things. It's literally "bad timing" in certain ranges in the low speed maps.

Been in the shop 28 days and no dealerships answers my calls as they don’t want to be the reason it gets lemoned Also I beat a 7.5R in my manual so I take offense in your manual comment lmao, it’s 100% on the driver but I do have a short shifter so my throws are insanely small. 2022 ST is not an American choice, sad but true. ST was discontinued in the US and the MK4 was released elsewhere (like the UK).
