2022 World Triathlon Cup Bergen: Elite Men's Highlights

The Norwegian team promised the Elite men’s race in Bergen would be one for the history books - and they delivered. With over 20.000 spectators packing the streets of the idyllic Norwegian town, home of Olympic and World Champion, the Bergen World Cup was a Kristian Blummenfelt show from beginning to end, but Dorian Coninx (FRA) gave it everything to steal the show and claim the gold medal in the Norwegian’s backyard. The Frenchman was followed across the finish line by local hero Blummenfelt and another Norwegian, Vetle Bergsvik Thorn.

I believe it is important to note that KB actually outperformed the Frenchman by 4 seconds across all three disciplines (08:46 / 31:00 / 14:44 for Blummenfelt as opposed to 08:29 / 31:18 / 14:47 for Coninx). He lost the race in the transitions which is no shame considering the lack of routine after not having competed in this format for so many months... There are simply no words to describe this man

Not all three disciplines, Coninx was only better on the swim right? According to the times you posted. 8'29" and 8'46". The Frenchman was 17" ahead into T1.

I see what you’re saying and I’m a big fan of Blu, but Conix won. Considering that Blu has been training for Iron distance, it’s a great result for him. He said so himself. But he still didn’t win regardless of his splits

2nd for Blume. Absolutely incredible to have the top of the top end speed and still the best at going long.

In fact despite all his incredible achievements, he lacks just that: top end speed. He knows that he cannot win a sprint finish with a faster athlete that’s why he makes his move generally much earlier. It just wasn’t possible this time as Coninx responded to every attack… Still amazing, and I’m sure he’s not happy with second place 😉

Blu's 5k PR of 13:51on a hilly course is impressive. but indeed 5k is not a "sprint". awesome race nonetheless. not sure where gustav finished but i think Blu's range is just absurd. i mean 5k to marathon being that tough and fast is unprecidented even in the running only world.
