I was would own both. I have the 21 mt09, almost got the xsr , loved the look and style on both. Found a matte raven black mt09 so went with the darker color scheme over the xsr, couldn't find any mt09sp anywhere

I love these 2 bikes, but i lived through the old school days and I think the evolution of motorcycle styling and engineering has been epic over the last 4 to 5 decades. I started riding in the 1970's so I totally embrace the modern look of most new bikes, MT09 included...so much so that I got a MT09 sp last summer. The Z900rs is beautiful too but I just got to sample modern stuff while I still can :)

I was set on an MT 09 or 10 but same height 5’8’ and thought for commute in the city, I’ll be all stop/start more feet on the ground in traffic. I went for the XSR900 for the Legend Blue colour plus the ride position feels more comfortable to use. Both are fantastic bikes, way ahead of the others for the price. Good fun playing with the settings, a lot of bike for the money. The XSR has to be the best all round bike I have ever owned. Enjoy, safe riding 👍🍻

The mt10 is a crazy machine I want an xsr700 so bad but the new mt09 and the new sxr900 are pretty much the same bike you definitely can’t beat the price. That’s the reason why I bought the bike got it for 9K cash it’s been an awesome ride so far.

in my country, xsr 900 is priced 1100 usd more than mt09. is it worth it? what does it have that makes it more expensive?

Both look great, I'd probably have bought the XSR if it had the Ohlins and front fully adjustables but I went for the MT09 SP for that reason.... I do plan on getting lower bar risers to give me a more forward riding position but other than that I cant fault it. Awesome nachine!

The xsr is actually lower then ours. It definitely makes the bike a bit more aggressive

I own a XSR 2016 model. So I'd buy the new XSR900. Very happy with the bike, cute motorbike, nimble, economic... and very, very fast and torquey.

I have the XSR900 in Blue, for me it was the 80/90's style, colours, seat height, Headlamp for sure. Its just super cool for me. MT-09 looks cool in its own way too but i'm more XSR, Can't compare the seat comfort and steering lock on MT-09 as i didn't ride it, i have a gel pad for longer trips say over 90 minutes thats the time it gets numbing, but i suppose a petrol stop would be needed around then and a coffee so thats sorted, steering at slow speeds just counter balance a bit and thats sorted enough too, Based on that and the price point compared to other bikes its was a no brainer. Its a keeper.

I love the exhaust it’s awesome. I have a new video coming up with my mt09 sc exhausted compared to the stock exhaust of the xsr900

I was set on the ktm 990 duke but then just discovered this xsr. The mts get a lot of praise but they just don’t do it for me. A generic Japanese bike. The xsr900 is modern with modern tech yet has strong retro look. The gold wheels look good with the blue but gold rims are really dated looking and not in a retro way, corny. The full fairing one they sell in Europe really looks cool but then you have clip ons which fun but uncomfortable after about an hour. It’s $2000 less than the ktm 990 so that’s a plus and Yamaha is a solid company. I’d love to see them all in a showdown comparison

Passenger pegs on xsr on look good, but functionality suck. MT you can shim for passengers comfort or take off completely.

Got the MT 09 because the XSR900 was not avaible. I am quite sure everyone has its pros and cons. If I could choose again I would pick the XSR for the different riding position and longer wing.
