Just put 100 miles on my new MT10. I love everything about it EXCEPT the front brake is rubbish. I mean like it's next to useless. Feels like someone greased the discs, honestly. I plan to change the pads to some Vesrah XX and add the obligatory braided brake lines.

Regarding the sound, I own the new (2022) MT10, and also owned the previous gen. The old one made way more sound at lower RPM and/or load than the new one. In addition to the cross plane growl, he older one also made a pipe organ like wail, that you could access and turn heads with, just pulling out of a gas station. The new one is not like that at all. It is way quieter. It also has less mechanical noise. Now it still sounds quite good when you get the revs up, but you have to really "feed 'er the beans" (revs and load) to get the good sound.

@@forkthepork personal opinion I suppose. I feel the 2022 MT10 is one of the best looking and best equipped naked bikes ever made. The current zx6r is a novelty item left over from the glory days of when 600s were considered fast on the track. A 600 is a nightmare to own on the street. Here in Australia the standard 2022 MT10 is coming in at $23,649! The Ducati V2 Streetfighter is actually cheaper than the Yamaha here, at $23,200 ride away. I'd take the Ducati every day, as that looks a million bucks, whereas the MT10....erm...doesn't.

In this latest iteration I really like the visual move from strictly a 'Transformers' design language to something that's still quite modern but now has a Euro vibe (maybe ala BMW?). The motor has always been a huge selling feature and there's nothing really here to disappoint... though I agree at $14K Yamaha is pushing the upper limits of price elasticity for a Japanese sourced bike.

Make a damn XSR version so we don't have to close our eyes until we get on it. That looks like those little robots out of the old transformer movies, not in a good way. Otherwise, for the price, style and simplicity its gonna be the GSX S-1000 for me. Perfect all arounder and its only $11,000. Also has ride modes, up/down quick shifter but less of the "I can't ride" unwanted nanny systems. The ONLY reason I've cared for these is the flat plane motor, otherwise it's just another gaming PC with wheels on it. Mess of plastic and wires.

I recently got mine broken in. My only real complaint is the same as on my last MT10: The fueling is quite fluffy for the first few millimeters of throttle tube rotation, regardless of power mode 1, 2, or 3. Also, LIF / wheelie control would be better if mode 1 allowed more lift
@hjmoto
@hjmoto 2 жыл бұрын
I was just going to ask him about that. I had a 2020 MT-10 and it had a flat spot on that initial throttle. So I had the ECU flashed and gained a little horsepower at the same time. It was good to go after that.
@leanit5756
@leanit5756 2 жыл бұрын
@@hjmoto This one mostly hunts and surges at minimal throttle openings in modes 1 and 2. It isn't too bad in mode 3, but I consider mode 2 and 1 too irritating to use. What they should have done was made the initial opening (maybe first 3-5 mm) even slightly less responsive than mode 3, but then transitioned the response to somewhere between modes 2 and 3 as the throttle was opened further.
@hjmoto
@hjmoto 2 жыл бұрын
@@leanit5756 You need to have the ECU flashed. That's the only way to get rid of it. I had not broke in my bike yet and had about 300 miles on it at the time and I wasn't going to deal with that. My 22' CRF450R Honda motocross bike doesn't do this and the MT-10 shouldn't be doing that either. I had 2 Wheel Dynoworks flash it for me. When I got the ECU back from them, the bike was perfect. No more flat spot! I kept the cat on the exhaust but replaced the stock exhaust with a Graves slip on. I had to wire the exhaust valve flap to stay open because they instruct you to do so. So I got rid of the servo and wired it to stay open. Look into it. Believe me, it's worth it. I had to find this out on my own and never owned a full street bike before because I have always been a motocrosser.

I like Yamaha overall, and it would seem they did a good job on this new updated MT-10. I've always gravitated to European bikes, but Yamaha keeps me interested in the Japanese bikes. Are you tired of all your bikes disappointing you, and looking good? All those terrible aesthetically appealing designs? Well good news....here's the Yamaha MT series. When you are curious what it would look like if a cyborg f***ed a bike, and had a baby...now you can have the answer every time go go to ride your butt-ugly MT. Yes Yamaha, YZF series....TERRIBLE...FZ series AWEFUL...great job turning things around with the new Megatron-love-child-style plastic bikes. I used to worry about not having enough plastic, and having too much HP....ty for solving both of those problems with your new lines of bikes.

ISSUES: 1) HORRIBLE styling. I don't WANT a cartoon bike. 2) ZERO internal storage-space...even for a toolkit, (which they do not provide). It's a DAY TRIPPER only. 3) ADAM- how could you POSSIBLY ride in a place without "canyons"?? Welcome to the Eastern World. And lucky you didn't clip a deer, of which N Carolina is packed with.

@@timothyadams4477 Au Contraire, Tim. I currently own a 1999 Bandit 1200, which I have modded carefully... put over 150,000 miles on, and have owned numerous "nakeds" over the years.
