i have a 2020 yz 250 2 stroke and just picked up a 21’ yz 250f the other day. just from breaking it in the 250f is a lot more peppy and feels way more planted to the ground. the 250 2 stroke absolutely rips once you get it in the power band a little. the 2 stroke is 100% faster in mid to top. but the 250f is a lot easier to ride and corner in my opinion. they’re both great bikes at the end of the day
@RyanNitzen3 жыл бұрын
You got it, both are great bikes! Each caters to a different riding / track style I think. Glad to hear your new ride is working out!

could not relate to you more… I have both a 19yz250f and yz250 2 smoker. You literally took words out of my mouth. I love both of them!
@Rachwal.Productions3 жыл бұрын
@@drm514 funny you say that cause my opinion has changed a little, i rode my 250f on a track for the first time today and loved it once i get used to it. the 2 stroke on the other hand i just couldn’t get used to once i started riding the 4 stroke. again both great bikes, but for me the 2 strokes gotta go lol. i’ve really been missing out on the modern 250fs. Fun factor the 2 stroke i think wins it but the 250f is easier to go fast on. can’t go wrong with either one
@ericmiles18523 жыл бұрын
thats another thing with the 250f. i can sit on the couch for 6months and get on it and be back up to speed in a couple laps. but it takes me a good day or 2 to get bacl up to speed on the 250 2stroke
@AverageJosh769 Жыл бұрын
I can attest to the power, but handling wise id say my yz250 turns better and easier and has more power, but my 250f feels like it sits in ruts better. Could be unfair, i have a steel frame 03 yz250 and a 2020 250f. Not to mention the two stroke is way more fun and suits me a little better, i like to ride a little more free

Great video! Not many people have done these comparisons. I'm happy to see the smoker is faster. Obviously, it has more power, but I'm glad the tractability of the 4-stroke didn't overcome the raw power of the 250 2-stroke. I'm even happier with my new-to-me 2008 yz250 now. Thanks for sharing!
@RyanNitzen3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! I was honestly surprised to see faster laps on the 2 smoker as I've always felt the 4 stroke was easier to ride. Awesome to see you keeping the two strokes alive too!
@ericmiles18523 жыл бұрын
the 250f is faster in a complete 10 lap or more moto. you dont ever get tired. the 250f is so good i got rid of my 450 and my 250 2stroke. its amazing . especially since im old. the 2stroke is just ruff to keep up for a full 10 laps or more. but nothing smells like a 2stroke with maxima 927 premix

I been thinking about going to a 250f i ride a yz250 2 stroke now I love it but most local tracks are more tight and technical and it wears me out fast. But in big open tracks like the one in video it’s awesome they are just all 2 or more hours away u fortanateky.

@@ericmiles1852 I think you're onto something there. that may also explain why older riders are holding onto speed longer in the pros (along with RC bringing a whole new level of fitness to the game). there's no way the 250f is hanging with the 250 when ridden near their potential, but you make a great point about vets or novice riders who cannot (for various reasons) take advantage of the 2-stroke's power band and weight.

the 250 2 stroke smoked that fart machine big time !!! Really wish the AMA would let the displacements be even 2 strokes would be back in business. the fact they let the 4s have 2 times the CC is just plain not fair.
@RyanNitzen3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, they allow 250 two strokes against 250 four strokes in amateur racing so I'm not sure why that rule doesn't carry over to the pro ranks.
@jcsquared11113 жыл бұрын
@@RyanNitzen This way we can finally see a fair fight between the 2 different engine types. But guess that would make to much actual logical sense lol

Wow that was fantastic. I've been out of riding since the early 90's. Lately I've been itching for that rush. But when I hear those 4 stroke motocross bikes it just sounds so awful to me. What's better than working a 2 stroke keeping it on the pipe ripping it out of a corner? Great video.
@nellawell49762 жыл бұрын
You got that right! 4 stroke sound "Turn me off" when were talking dirt bike, a 2T kept on-the-pipe means Moto X.
@JasonHam412 жыл бұрын
We have been racing 250 2 strokes against 450s in the same class forever. It’s entirely down to the rider skill and experience riding each as to which will lap fastest.
@RyanNitzen2 жыл бұрын
Nowadays think it should be 250 vs 250.
@daneg Жыл бұрын
interesting test format. I enjoyed the layout and video. that said, there's no replacement for displacement. assuming the rider is proficient with both bikes, the 2 stroke should win every time (at least if he's a B+ rider, imo). the problem is throwing 400cc+ displacements in a 250cc class. like...yeah. ok. of course. that's a huge engine advantage. (not that I'd want a 450cc 2-stroke; I almost killed myself on a CR 500! 😄). man. I used to dream about racing in Cali, but all of these tracks look exactly the same. there's some natural terrain at Glen Helen, tbf, but even there it's the same style of turn and jump and dirt. I never realized how great I had it in NY with sand, loam, clay, hard pack, elevation change. talk about the grass always being greener. I wanna go back and slap some sense into my younger self.

Well in the 90s Cali was the Mecca of Motocross, now its a liberal hellhole with hard packed tracks (i struggled to ride in the mud back in Texas) I started out on a KX100 and now i financed a 2023 TC125!! Never gonna stop smokin✊

I feel like the 2 stroke has more mid-to-top which worked better on this track. The 4 stroke is definitely more torquey but doesn't seem to have as much up top. Just my opinion🤷

this comparison doesnt tell the whole story. ive had 250f , 250 2stroke and 450f all at the same time. i ride all three within a second a lap of each other. i even had a yfz450 fourwheeler and i was within a?second a lap on it. you have a set speed in you at any given time and i believe your mind pushes you to that speed reguardless what you are riding. but its the smoothness and how long you can maintain those speeds where the 250f out performs the 250 2stroke. i can ride my 250f all day and never get out of control. but i cant ride my 250 2stroke that long and stay that smooth and error free. the 2stroke is always gonna be faster when you have 5 to 10hp more. same with the 450.

At our track, the 2 stroke is always faster than the 250F, the results speak for themselves, maybe learn how to ride one people...😂
