So for a guy like me, closer to 50 than 40, track rider for fun and general conditioning, the YZ 125 is still the best. Kind of like the YZ 250. The blue 2 strokes are still the bike that is truly best for MOST riders. They lose out on the really pointy end of the scale, but if people are really honest about how they ride most of the time, the Yamaha's are likely the best choice. It takes a bit of humility to acknowledge that for most guys lol.

In my opinion, after buying a 2022 YZ 125. I was very comfortable on it. I’m 5 ft 7 ,160 lbs. I’m an intermediate rider, not a track racer although I go to the track. When I look at these numbers horsepower torque, I can’t help but think that if given the right pipe and silencer combo like the other European bikes have the YZ would fair roughly the same plus the suspension is so smooth and plush. It’s so confidence inspiring. So although it’s a little down on power from the other bikes, I think it would be close to top of the class with the mods. Beautiful bike and big smile fun factor too. Although to be honest a little bit tall for me and it had me thinking about the Husqvarna.

Yes thats a good point. The 2023 KTM 125 SX manual states" Super unleaded (ROZ 98 / RON 98 / PON 94) ( p. 139)" which is equvalent to ~93 US gas (R+M/2) if not even a tat higher. MXA states 2:28 they use 91 octane gas, therefore they run out of spec fuel. To conclude the KTM has detonation issues due to mapping should be revised imo @motocrossaction

Then, the yzf 450 and thus the 450 class. Remember: Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart smoked all the 450s on 2 strokes but the 450s do have more torque and power... Here is what annoys me; When all manufacturers went to 450 (allowed to upgrade twice, 400, 426, 450) why didn't all 125s become 150s and all 250s become 300s? Could you imagine how much more fair that would be and it would be 1 upgrade, 125 to 150 and 250 to 300!
