Looks good and a clean install. I'm very happy with my amp research steps on my 2018 Sierra. I bought them slightly used from my detail guy for $700.00 as he removed them from his 2015 Silverado when Chevy did a lemon buy back on his truck. They came with the OBD 2 plug and the splitter to keep the port open. They are nice because they have about a 2-3 second delay before going back up. Wish it was more like 5 seconds though.

I did see Amp research finally released them for the 2023 colorado /Canyon. I've had both and both are definitely quality parts. Amp is just so darn expensive. It looks like $1800 for the set 😱, and I thought $1500 (what I paid) was to much. Regardless, cheers to not prematurely wearing out your front seat because of some cool steps... 😂

Hey brother, awesome video! Now that it’s been a while, what do you think of the boards? I ordered mine a while back from the same website and they’re finally coming in by the end of this week. I’m debating returning them though. I have the RC 6 inch lift on my Colorado and I feel like they don’t go down far enough. I’m going to have to look into seeing if they have some type of extension.

@@abr112010 oh man, that is definitely a pickle you put me in to give advice. On one hand I love the Go Rhino retractable steps, especially how they install and do not require much of any drilling or cutting and especially not connecting to the OBDII port. On the other hand you can get the Amp research steps, which I believe do drop lower than the Go Rhino (8") but have a way more complicated install and definitely require more drilling and cutting as well as the OBDII connection. The Go Rhino did require me to grind down the body mount bracket just a bit which is a minor annoyance and I do really wish they dropped more, like maybe 10". I hate to say it but, I gotta suggest the Amp research steps. This is mainly because they drop down more than the Go Rhino (I think). If you are fine with how they install and the added cost. I think, you having that 6" lift, really puts the Go Rhino at a big disadvantage. Hope this helps, and cheers to what sounds like a bad azz truck you are building 🍻

I just installed the Go Rhino E1 steps and your video was invaluable as the included instructions were poor at best. I had AMP on a 2nd Gen Canyon in the past and prefer the connection to the OBD, but could not justify the $500 more for the AMP.
@T_B_C_L
@T_B_C_L 9 ай бұрын
Yes, the obd connection is definitely easier on the install but for me, the price is pretty outrageous for the Amp. The actual motor linkage install requires permanent holes to be drill in the body as well. Imo if Go Rhino would just make these drop another 2 inches, these would be the go to step for everyone. Oh and Go Rhino definitely needs to fix their installation instructions... 😂. I'm glad the video was helpful, and as always I definitely appreciate the positive feedback 🍻

Hey man I love the running boards. I have a WT version of this truck and still I have trouble getting into it. I really thought about getting these over the standard bolt on hard ones. But I’m debating on if anything goes wrong with the truck if they will deny my warranty or something lol.
@T_B_C_L
@T_B_C_L 10 ай бұрын
Completely understandable concern. These steps are completely separate from anything but a direct power connection at the battery that is fused. I'm no lawyer and don't take this as legal advise but in my opinion, there is no way any dealer can deny warranty because of these steps. You can always fall back on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act if need be. Amp research has been connecting to the OBDII for years with their steps and that is way more intrusive. From what I've seen currently offered in the aftermarket, the Go Rhino E1 steps are the least intrusive requiring very minimum drilling and even that is into a plastic grommet. Hope this helps 😊

The question is, as an off-road truck could these things take a hit and not completely fuck your truck.
@T_B_C_L

If you are using your truck for serious trails with big rocks, I would advise keeping the rock sliders. If you are just a casual offroader with small trails,sand, and dirt roads, then these should be just fine. These steps will definitely help with flying road debris, brush, and things like that. I would not count on them to save your truck from much more.

Hello, good presentation. My 2016 diesel has battery mounted on driver side so the electrical is probably for driver side mounted installs. The step drop height is the deal breaker, I don't need it but wife does. Not sure if I'll buy it.

My wife is 5"2 and she gets in no problem. Its actually worse for me because of having to duck to get in once on the step. I see Amp has released some steps for this truck now but I looked at the install instructions, and I much much prefer the installation of these Go Rhino steps. But prefer the drop of the Amp. Amp steps are about $500 more as well. I wish Go Rhino would just release a extended arm set. The kit would be perfect then. Thx for watching and taking the time to comment.

I put the Westin brand on my 23 zr2. The steps are high and don’t work great meaning they are too high so you have to crouch done into the truck.

Yea these are just low enough to not be to high but I would definitely like them to be longer, as in lower, just a bit more. It would just make the transitioning into the truck better.

Great Video/tutorial!!!. I'm thinking installing these steps on my 2024 Canyon (do not want to drill too many holes as the AMP research requires!). I'm not concern on the drop of the steps, my concern is removing part of the bracket under the car, isn't that structural? how do you feel about that? thank you!!
@T_B_C_L

Its a body mount piece and should be fine. You could always have it gusseded to restrengthen the mount for piece of mind. I ultimately put a zip tie around the part that was Making contact after grinding some. I was also concerned, as I didn't want to grind to much. Your concerns about drilling was on my mind as well. This is ultimately why I went with these steps, and honestly I don't have any regrets.

for sure they look good and you did a great job on the installation, congrats!! Last Q: approximately how much material you removed from the bracket?
@T_B_C_L
@T_B_C_L 5 ай бұрын
@@cyclest9300 I'm not sure honestly but there is about 1/4" left I'm guessing. Putting the zip tie on the contact point is what ultimately did the trick. The arm bracket still contacts that point but the zip tie made it a non issue. I used a pretty sturdy zip tie about a 1/4" wide.

I have a question did they ever message you back about the spacing between the back bracket? im having the same issue and i can hear it click hit the bracket even after grinding. Also I did tighten them to spec but when I'm within the truck and I open the door I feel like I can hear them move when the are engaging but when I go check on them everything is nice and tight.

Initially after installing I was getting a funny noise that was coming from that bracket. I just clearanced the body mount bracket a little more and it solved it. Also check clearance on the actual board to body. I did have to adjust mine forward and back some to get proper clearance from the body. Mine was rubbing on the front plastic near the front fender drivers side. As far as contacting the company I honestly don't even remember if I got around to it and they never got back to me. I will say since making those adjustments the steps have been flawless.

Is it just two wires on the manual switch? I'm wondering if I could wire it to the factory Aux switch, which is actually a switch ground. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqeZo5mDgJlssKM
