Thank you so much for showing a secure way to secure the ModernSpare. I had no idea how much space that tire took in the rear cargo area. I love my 24 CR-V Hybrid Sport-L, but I so wish Honda would have come up with a way to provide a spare without the additional cost of buying a spare and the inconvenience of placing it in the cargo area, and having to look at it daily. I noticed my mpg went down from 40-42 to 35-36 in the winters. Did you notice something similar? ALso, what's this seafoam thingy?

Yea mine also did that. Now that its so cold. Seafoam is an engine cleaner. Clears out carbon deposits, increases engine health. Some people are strong proponents, some against.

Only problem with seafood is that it doesn’t work well on direct injection engines. Not sure why Honda didn’t put port like Toyota does.

Gee, that doesn't foul up the cargo area floor! I actually did research aftermarket spares (like you have) to try to wrestle with the lack of a spare. Seems like a lazy place to park the hybrid components, given that the 1.5L turbo has a spare tire. (I'm presently shopping to replace my '14 Forester). Kudos for strapping that down though. I was playing with the "do I carry it full-time, or just on certain trips?" question too. Nice to see how it actually looks back there. It's one of the major deal killers for me on an otherwise great SUV. Now, on to tackling that anemic 1,000 lb towing capacity (trailing the competition by at least 500 lbs, which for my use, is a real difference.) Your mats are cool, but I have to ask. Do you leave those in permanently, during winter only, or special conditions where you use it for something "messy"? Because if you leave them in permanently to preserve the carpet, what are you preserving the carpet for? The next owner? Easier to clean than the carpet though. I really think Honda had a good idea in the old Element with a floor you could allegedly hose out. I noticed somebody (Subaru?) offered "scuff guards" for the lower interior door panels. Sounds great until you think about it. Unless you are gouging your door panels, and are only scuffing with a dirty shoe, you are still going to have to clean off your scuff guard, just as you would with the regular panel. So, what's the point? In a SUV, I'm totally a rubber mat guy. My Subaru has rubber mats and that's all I ever use. Got Weather Techs for the old CRV my wife had. Next time, I'd get the mats vs the trays. The trays fit well, but the surface was a little slippery for my liking. Thanks for your work. Maybe Honda will wake up and put in a full-time spare in the not too distant future. The Forester, CX-5, and RAV-4 all have full size spares. (In the Wilderness, you actually get a fifth wheel and tire, identical to what is on the vehicle. In the others, it is a full-size temporary spare only. I've been living on car lots the past couple weeks, so this is all fresh in my mind and 2024 vehicles. )

Honestly, I can just put everything right on top of it so being flat doesn’t really hinder me in anyway. I put my bikes on top of it. I put my groceries on top of it. Some people make a platform on top of it. But another direction works better for you. That’s totally fine.

Nice customizations, and thanks for the owner review! Quick question....I'm coming from a car that I like for its great driver seat. I like that I am able to put my elbows on the armrests (center console and driver door) and put my hands on the lowest part of the wheel when I drive. I was surprised testing another SUV the other day that I wasn't able to do that with the position of the center console. Are you able to do that in the latest CR-V?

Yea i drive 2-3 hrs a day sometimes. Always comfortable. Rav4 is smaller. I couldnt be as comfy. No issues with console resting or steering wheel resting

@@ricki.9556 They will not bring you a spare tire. Only a tow/battery jump, etc. And if its after hours getting towed to a closed service location does no good. Much better to get a spare if travelling any distance where getting back home will be a challenge.

Honestly, it’s super easy. If you need a manual just go to the College Hills Honda website and you can download an instruction sheet. It takes like 10 minutes to install.
