2023-24-AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION NATIONAL YOUTH AMBASSADOR -Audrey Doering. Hopping for Hearts!

Audrey is one of 15 in the nation selected by the American Heart Association to be a National Youth Ambassador for 2023-24! She has undergone 2 open hearts, multiple pulmonary valves/conduits, pulmonary stents and endless cardiac catheterizations! Audrey has been an advocate for the Heart Association since she was in elementary school! (see video below)
This year the Heart Association is celebrating 100 years and this kid is living proof of the advances made in cardiac medicine. Surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot was first tried only 50 years ago and the procedure for Audrey's defect only began in the 1990's! She has been the recipient of the advances in transcath valves-Melody Valve which has allowed her to put off her next open heart surgery for the last few years.
Her heart disease limits her in some aspects such as her desire to become a pilot but she can do almost anything and lives everyday to the fullest! She hopes to become a cardiologist and continue the advances in medicine.

Not a glider but a real plane. They kept asking us for more and we decided to give up for a license and just let her fly with an instructor when she wants. Just the reality.
