I’m hoping to see a good improvement from the Hawks this season, but I don’t know if they rise in the standings that much if at all. For the Hawks to move up, other teams need to move down and I can’t think of teams that would move down in the Central or in the league that they could jump over.

An established superstar like Kane couldn't even put up decent stat sheet on a dumpster team last year, people predicting Bedard to get 40/55 are just absolutely ridiculous and ignorant (probably not a Hawks fan themselves) 70+ points for Bedard seem like a positive scenario for me.

They have insulated this kid with the team they built around him. Not saying the team does great, but Bedard to me will have all the chances to shine. Chicago should improve to low to mid 70s. Be competitive. I can see him getting a point per game +-. Some other star players played on teams on the rebuild. Almost no protection for those guys. He has super hockey IQ. Practiced with pros for a while. He sees the ice like Sidney Crosby.

I have seen Korchinski play in person. I do *not* understand why everyone is saying he can make the club this year. He is a HORRIFIC defender, and has some absurd on-ice habits that regularly put him out of position and lead to chances against. Chicago needs reliable, stay-at-home defensemen, not another Seth Jones. Korchinski has a LOT to learn about playing his position -- he would be much better suited as a winger -- and I expect Luke Richardson to send him down to the T-Birds in the first round of cuts.

Anyone predict Bedard will struggle are probably looking more at the lack of talent that he is playing with. Its not about him. He might eventually make lesser players around him better, but I doubt that happens right out of the gate. Personally I'd be shocked if he scored 40 goals or had 90 points in his first season. Bedard could end up only getting 25 goals in his first season, comparable to someone like Tavares in his first outing. I see Chicago competing for the first overall pick in the Entry Draft, because when you have a team in year one, after stripping their team down to the studs, they need a lot better goaltending going forward. Perry and Foligno could easily be sold off as rentals at the deadline, with Chicago being in a position to easily retain their salaries.
