2023 BMW 3 Series // Iconic Sounds Demonstration

Hey brother loved the video! I just want to clarify some things with Iconic sounds. So for context I own an LCI M340i with a valvetronic exhaust and catted downpipes. With iconic sounds ON and sport + mode, the car does have the fake burbles and engine noises but what I noticed is my car has real burbles too. With iconic sounds OFF and sport + mode, the car has zero "fake burbles" or real burbles. Just pure inline 6. It seems bmw is actually changing the tune depending on if its off or not. This may seem counter intuitive (even I thought so) but I realized giving the customer options from factory is actually a a really nice feature.

Absolutely right! You also have an option to get the cabin sounds coded out so I’d look into that if you want to keep the burbles on over-run. Personally I haven’t heard a difference in my exhaust so it might differ being the 330i model and not the M340!

hi there, when you deleted the OPF filter did you get any Check engine light or Limp Mode? I know res delete wont cause issue. I have 2023 330EX so wondering.

Yes I have a new 330e LCI, the iconic sounds exist in all modes, but hybrid(comfort) will be the most balanced, eco will be the most reduced sound, sport & Xtraboost have the most aggressive sounds. You can turn it off also

Hey man I have a question, did you run into an issue of the exhaust not being a circle because on my 2023 430i the res is connected with rectangle like pipes?

I recently got 2023 330i with M sport package but dont have the Sport plus mode, only the regular sport mode. Been trying to figure how to activate launch control but nothings working for me. Anyone know why? Thanks in advance.

I had to have Sport+ coded in using bimmercode, and there’s no more “Launch Control” animation in the dash for iDrive8 on the 330i, but if you’re able to increase the revs on a standstill while in sportmode & traction control off then launch control is engaged.

Is the sound only activated in sport +? Or also in normal sport mode?

It only activates in sport individual, sport, or sport plus; not in comfort or eco.

question! i jut got a 2024 x6, i had iconic sounds a feature to buy, i spent $100 to buy it and its activated but i dont hear any difference? I had asked bmw genius through the car if it was only for EVs because my car is not an ev, they said no, so i got it...i tried driving in all modes and dont hear anything, just my engine... i asked the guy at the dealer and he didnt know. any thoughts?

I’m assuming your car has the iDrive 8 system so go into your drive-mode settings and you’ll see text on the “Sport Individual” setting that will show “iconic sounds” and make sure the slider is green and to the right to confirm it’s on!

@@thenew330i i did lol i shut it off and did the sped off and turned it on and sped off. Im like what the hell is the difference? Theres no documentation on what it does for engine cars. Does it make the engine sound louder? Or the exhaust?

@@farzadghorbani for the 330i it’s purely engine sound but I’ve heard that in the M340i: it lightly pumps in burbles along with engine sound. My suggestion is to take videos of acceleration with it turned off and on then play them back-to-back ti see if you can notice any difference

Sport Individual has an option to turn off Iconic sounds but Sport and Sport Plus does not
