Hi, does the 2023 i4 edrive35 base model come with the iconic sounds feature? Every KZbin video showing off this feature happens to use a M variant of the i4. I can't wait to receive this car coming August. Thanks.

Hi. I have just bought the 330e M sport. Live the car when I get drove a similar model. In sport mode it sounded totally different to my one I have now in sport mode. And extra boost mode. I can replicate that same noise. Thinking now after your video. It may be this iconic sound. Needs to be on to get that sound. Does iconic come thru the speakers. Better on or off ?

Matter of preference honestly… i have an extremely hectic life at work and home so my drives are my calm place, so i turn off iconic sounds for myself :)

Sadly no… predetermined based on drive mode. Sport is obviously the loudest.

i just got the 2024 ix2 edrive 20 this week but cant figure out how to turn on iconic sounds

@@TheFearTheGames I’m not 100% sure what’s up with the iX2 edrive20 in therms of standard equipment because it’s outside of our market. But it might be a situation of your car not having iconic sounds standard. I know it’s an option here in the US so i assume it may be the same elsewhere. With that in mind, IF you car has it it will be immediately visible in your cars driving settings (the car with three horizontal lines just below your shift lever. )

Is the sound that’s produced outside, or is the sound produced only for those inside the car? Just googled it. It’s only for the driver/passengers. Hmm, I think I’ll pass.

@@BMWofFW - Your point is true if the audio inside the car is loud enough for someone outside on a sidewalk to hear it. I guess the bottom line is; it is a sound system producing it and not the tailpipe (s). But I do like how you framed your clever response.

@@meangreen7389 no i mean that US regulations requires there to be outside sounds for electric cars for safety reasons. the i4 and other electric BMWs have two speakers, one in front and one in back specifically for this purpose. above 30 mph it goes off, since at that point you're not typically around town where pedestrians need to be aware of your presence.

@@BMWofFW - That’s true. My daughter has a 2021 Hybrid Toyota Venza and it has a loud high pitched sound when the car is in reverse but turns off when the gear selector is put into drive. Ok, I see your point.

Or… With the latest expectation of luxury and BMWs sound deadening has made it, so the standard sound doesn’t come in… Therefore, recording and inputting that sound through the speaker system allows for the same visual experience with the motor that you would get if you had less sound deadening and the option to make it more luxurious with less sound by turning it off

@@BMWofFW Sure, depending on personal taste, you can have a point. I still prefer my E46 M3 convertible, where I can open the top for a real experience and feel those 6 guys pushing hard and kicking as they know. You can call me outdated, old fashioned, but I guess that remains a unique peak of emotional BMW driving. Personal opinion, obviously.

You know, I thought the same, I ridiculed it and was super skeptical thinking "anyone is gonna turn this off in an hour" but when I test-drove the M50, I thought they were quite fun/good. Picking up my i4 (non-M) tomorrow, it came w/ them at no charge (seems like all 2023 with certain packages get that, the ambient lighting stuff and other "options" free now), we'll see how I feel about it in a few weeks :D

I would actually disagree… One of the most important things that you ask of people that are coming out of an internal combustion engine is the sound, the car makes… By choosing a composer, that not only knows how to make great music, but also illicit emotion. this is the perfect way to transition from an ice engine to electric
