I have been riding motorcycles since the late 80's. I have had varied motorcycles and when I rode this bike I found it to be really nice. I did not have the stalling issues you reported. I only rode for about 20 miles, and I was with a group ride with guys with bigger bikes , I had to ride agressively to keep up but didn't experience the problems that you described. I currently have a BMW F650CS, planning to replace it with the G310GS.

Picking this up this weekend. Couldn’t pass up new for $5500 out the door. Not thrilled about the 313cc but I’m using as a 8 mile commuter bike for back and forth to work

@@manilove2pwn I passed after a shitty dealership encounter and grabbed a ninja 500 se…but the best all around everyday bike in NA right now is the Honda NX500. I would look at that over anything else at the moment.

Charlie, To stay closer to BMW traditions, could they have equipped this motorcycle with a single cylinder, horizontally unopposed boxer engine?🤔 😉

I’ve had mine for about 4 months and 1400 miles. Mine doesn’t have the throttle delay or stalling issues either. It’s not super powerful but But I can commute on the back roads and if I decide jump on the highway for a jaunt or take dirt roads. Nice all arounder for that purpose. With better tires It could be quite fun for mild off-roading. Ymmv

Great review. I appreciate your thoughts on this bike. I like the styling and comfort of it. It's one of 3 bikes I'm trying to decide on. Best wishes and happy New Year to you and yours. Stay safe.

I picked up a 2019 for right on 5k and I've been totally happy with it. It has switchable rear abs and a standard cable throttle, which seems a bit more responsive than the one you were riding. You were spot on with how much of motorcycling you get to try with these bikes. I've used it for commuting, touring, hitting some great pacific highway twisties, and riding trails, and it's been totally competent and dependable. It's been a few years now and I just can't wait any more to move up to something bigger, but I'll always have a soft spot for this little GS

It's truly goddawful on the highway. Just bought one and struggled to hold 110 km into a headwind on the highway. Had to keep adjusting my grip on the throttle to try and crack it open wide enough to sustain speed which gave me arm pump. It's not in its design brief so that's fine but IMO it's NOT a touring bike at least not in a country like Australia. It's performed just fine on the dirt but like many before me I'm probably gonna fit bar risers.

For absolute beginers only, rather get a low milage second hand 650 (klr, dr etc.) almost double the power and will keep you entertained longer

Always wise to belittle the cycle before riding the G310 Gs, the arrogance of you youtubers is insane. The bike can go seriously offroading you have to have talent and skill, you must lack those things.

Another KZbinr experienced the stalling issue too
@demonadarius2 ай бұрын
I test road one the other day and thought it was just me being very rusty or something (haven't road in 4 years). It stalled on me twice by just blipping the throttle like that. A brand new bike. I loved how light it was and how confident inspiring the way it handles and feels. But man they need to replace that engine. I wish the engine was a 400-500cc or so with 45ish hp with the similar weight. KTM 390 adventure seems to be the better bike but out the door price is sometimes 2000 dollars different.

Anyone know how it compares to the F650gs dakar?

I hope this was a press bike. Manual says not to rev the engine above 6k during the 600 mile break in period. ECU logs over revs so hopefully an issue never comes up with that bikes motor. First thing BMW does on an warranty claim is copy the ECU logs and review them for stuff like that.
@DailyMotor3 ай бұрын
Yes, they break the bikes in to their desired specs before loaning them out. I certainly wouldn't ride a personal bike like this at early mileage.

What's up with the whole India thing man? you put this up on KZbin. An Indian is the CEO of that too. We put rockets on Mars and the Moon. We can surely make a bike. Albeit, I do agree with your review, maybe, you could forgo preconceived notions. Also, this bike is built in India, however, to the German Engineering specs to the hilt (including the forging of the Bolt and Nut steel). Audi is owned by Fiat, and Skoda is too. Let's not stick to countries here, please. Fords are made in Mexico and in India. Having said that; this is a starter bike. Let's review it from that perspective.
