I have one of these spectacular cars. Sometimes, a full charge has given me about 420 miles, but at other times, it’s been about 320 miles!!! Quite a difference. Based on my 3 months of driving this car, it seems that the difference is put down to 1) the weather and 2) the settings that determine how the electric is ‘received’ into the car. I’ve learned which settings prove best, but I set those settings depending on my own circumstances. It can be a very steep learning curve - and exceedingly time-consuming - to learn just what this car can do. Whether you want to dedicate that time or not is something that may influence whether or not you actually want to get one of these cars.

@@Romantekker Well, it ultimately depends on what you want from it. If you’ve got kids, it can take quite a while to get the theatre screen all sorted out,as you have to get the esim figured out. I’ve got a unlimited data contract, but it took a while to get that sorted out as some of those sales people weren’t familiar with what I wanted the esim for. The I7 is not just a new car, it’s new technology and BMW themselves are many, many months away from fully understanding their own product. Plus, I wanted to learn as much as what I could about the car. It’s got every option available, so that’s been quite a learning curve to learn all of that. I’ve watched countless videos, many of which are on BMW’s KZbin channel. All of that has been very time consuming. If you’ve got a charger at home, that’s great. Just make sure that you familiarise yourself with the different options available to you when it comes to actually charging the car. Doing so properly will help the battery life. The battery doesn’t like cold weather. During summer, I was able to get about a 400 mile range. Now, it’s just over 300. All the best with it.

Another thing: during the summer, I was getting a range of 380 to 420. Now, it’s more like 240 to 280. The colder it is, the less range.

All BMWs are insanely reliable now, mostly because the B58 is the best internal combustion engine ever created. In historical terms, the E38 was a very reliable 7-series. Every 60k miles it’s gonna need some preventative maintenance and after that nothing breaks. Ever.

Every 7 series is perfectly reliable if it's maintained properly. My family went through 3 of them in the last 10 years, each over 500,000 km, with on average 200k done every year, and they were driven hard. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING ever went wrong on any of them in a total of 1.5 million km's that they covered.

@@jaymum23 The myth of BMW's being unreliable is created by people who buy cheap used BMW's from someone who didn't maintain them and then stuff constantly breaks down. Fact is they're mechanically indestructible. Several levels above Japanese cars in terms of how much abuse they can take and not break a sweat.

Hi ! In assist plus mode, you don't have to keep your hands on the wheel. When you activate the drive assist, whenever you take your hands off it will activate the assist plus mode. Green lights on the wheel means you don't have to touch it, orange means keep your hands on it and red means take control immediately !

Mercedes has been caught and blindsided by BMW with this EV. Mercedes feels cheap in areas of the EQS and current generation S-Class. Can’t wait till the new generation 3-series is released.

The stupid ipod in the rear seats will be horrifically outdated and laggy in about 5 years. The overabundance of haptic feedback buttons make interacting with this vehicle an argument. Just give us real buttons instead of laggy tech. A vehicle is an inherently mechanical endeavor. It isn't an iphone where you should strive to get rid of every mechanical button.

Had the i7 in mind, but probably will take the ICE version...Battery tech is evolving fast and in couple of years this will feel like a first gen iphone and depreciate faster than it should...For someone like me who keeps a car for 5 years , maybe the next gen of EV cars will work fine

As the driver, I'd be super jelly what my passengers are doing in the back seat in theatre mode, and if I only had one passenger, they would probably be resentful for having to sit in the front with me! They'd make me ride alone in front and head for the back to get a massage and a movie!

I didn't see a single frame where the hood of the car went up. I'm sure a portion of this videos audience was interested in more then the interior design, and conceptions of RGB on the dash... This has been seen before(Superbowl commercials from 2020), personally I would like to learn about the engineering of this vehicle, and why its performance might stand out against its mainstream EV only rivals (Tesla).

Honestly i really like the I7, i like that there is a 7 series electric version, sure the design is not the best but i don't care about the design, i care about the confort and the Performance, for now the XDrive60i i peffer it being a chofer driven car, and the M70 more like a high performance big sedan. I'll totally drive this no matter the design.

Hoping in a couple of years some of the needed tech would tickle down and more reliable companies like mazda can offer something premium without the luxury price. BMW needs to really consider releasing a base model of the i7 much like they do with the 740i. NVH (noise/vibration/harshness), suspension, and linear acceleration with the EV Motor are significant game-changers on this vehicle. IMHO it is probably the most perfect driving machine out there and there has never been anything like it. Tesla could have come close, but they have been so focused on range that their NVH is pretty poor at speed. They do everything they can to lighten up the vehicle. Not so with the i7. BMW got it right by allowing EV to be part of their equation and not everything like Tesla has. I think BMW wouldn't be able to build enough if they created a base model equivalent (like the 740i), kept the NVH, suspension, and great EV Motor AND got rid of so much superfluous stuff. All those electronics? IMHO it is way too much, something else to break, drives the price up, and adds nothing to the drivability of the car. Keep what matters most, get the price down, and watch them fly off the shelves. :)
