Bought am IX and absolutely love it. We test drove the Tesla and it had some door quality issues as well as the interior just wasn't up to the price tag. The ride quality wasn't as good as the BMW either. For everyone out there who's judging the IX on looks alone, test drive it first and then make a decision.

I bought a used i3 a couple years ago and I still don't love its looks but they have grown on me and from certain angles the i3 looks really good - just not the front end so much. I had no issue buying it in the end because it was a great deal and the interior is a wonderful place to be. The iX seems very similar to the i3 in those ways - as the owner you are usually seeing and enjoying the most beautiful part (the inside).

I look at it this way (no pun intended): I think my Toyota Avalon front end is ugly, and newer Avalons are no improvement. But when I’m behind the wheel, I can’t see the front end. I care more about the comfort and quality of the interior.

The BMW IX seems better thought out compared to the i7. Having a dedicated EV platform used on the i7 would have made for a better EV. The IX is expensive, but compared to the i7 is a great deal.

I’d love if you brought your skills and video talents to an updated BMW iX video and focused on the navigation system and road trip charging. It is NOT as intuitive as some of the other systems on other cars. Thanks again.

I look for towing capacity, even with an EV SUV. From my research, it appears European models of the iX are rated to tow 2,100-2,500 kg. I see no such rating for US models. Is BMW USA not rating the iX for towing? That’s one aspect that might favor the X5.

iX and i3 have about as much in common as a current X5 and a 10 year old 3 series............ I don't think we can extrapolate much about one from the other
@joeb42942 жыл бұрын
This seems highly unlikely. The i3 was much more quirky and had a more limited EV range. I would expect the iX to depreciate like similarly priced BMW SUVs - so about 40% off after five years. But that also depends on how long it takes automakers to climb out of production issues.

i3’s depreciation in Europe is ridiculously low. Only Americans didn’t get it🤪
@joeb42942 жыл бұрын
@@mtumasz True, the i3 wasn't really designed for the US market though. Americans tend to see BMW as a higher end luxury brand. The i3 was probably the least premium/luxury BMW sold in the US going back several decades, with it's manually adjusted seats and no option for a heated steering wheel. It was still priced at a premium though.
@updlate47562 жыл бұрын
3rd row isn't standard on the base model X. 6 seats option is standard on the Plaid trim that costs $18,000 more than the base trim. . The biggest issue with the base model X is that, after you apply the $7500 tax credit to the iX and option it so it's equivalent to the base model X, the mX costs $35,000 more!! And since BMW put everything into the ultimate package, you're getting valuable options you can't get on the mX like 4 wheel steering, HUD, radiant heating, the surround view cameras, and the solid parking assistant. The BMW also gets 2 years of free charging at EA. That's before considering that the BMW has multiple free appearance options, paint and interior pleather color options. Those paint and interior color options cost a lot of money on the Tesla. The base model X does have the expensive optional 3rd row, which costs $3500 - $6500 that isn't available on the BMW... so there is that! You can also get far more wheel / tire options on the BMW for affordable prices, whereas the only other option on the mX costs $5500!! For Tesla gloating about including all options standard, between appearance options, 3rd row seats, and larger wheels/tires, it's possible to run the price up another $16,500 for a grand total of $137,500!!! Yeezus. Don't get me wrong, the model X is slightly faster, has a couple of neat tricks in the infotainment, and has the falcon wing doors (that are cool when they're not in for service) but that's one helluva premium for that car! IMO, the BMW iX 50 is the best value in this segment.

By putting the ACC in the option package they are truly saying 'FU' to anyone stupid enough to buy this thing.
