For riding in stop-and-go traffic, why not open the vents at the front of the bike? They put a lot of air into the cockpit at knee/thigh level and are easy to deploy/stow.

Good review. Nice to see an American with a wider viewpoint rather than just being a Harley fanatic. I like Harley myself and I’m from ireland but you seem to have a more open educated view of engines etc than most. I’m subbed to you. You deserve more attention.

Dude, you are presumptive! I took offense from your ‘uneducated’ comment. Americans dont live in woods. If it wasn’t for Americans that you look down up on, you’d be speaking German today!! Apologize to the reviewer!

That engine and the ride. Fun is the key word. You can have your apple car play. The goldwing to me is boring after a couple of hrs. This gtl keeps a smile on my face.😂

Excellent review by far one of the best I've seen. Contemplating a 23 K1600GTL something different from the Chieftain Darkhorse currently ride. Been to the dealer here a few times just holding out on the prices to eventually come down some but Thank you for a job well done on this!

Would have liked to have seen you actually open up the trunk and saddlebags as that is an important reason to have that bike to begin with. Cargo and luggage capacity is super important for two up riding, long distance cross country.
@Rambler358 Жыл бұрын
Excellent review! I picked up a 22 GTL and agree with almost everything you mentioned. As far as tech goes, I think HD just beat out BMW with their 12" TFT on the new 23 CVO models. But also as far as tech, I was hoping BMW would've added Active Cruise Control like what they have on the 2021+ RT models. With me being 6'1" and a 32" inseam, the stock seat had me way too cramped. A 2-piece Sargent seat fixed that issue and is much more comfortable. Also, you didn't mention about the side winglets that can be opened to direct airflow into the rider cockpit, which definitely helps when it gets hotter. Since my finance manager (aka wife) said I could only have 1 bike, this was it. When I want to do some spirited riding in the canyons, I just take the bags and top-box off and put the bike in Dynamic mode. When the wife is with me, the bags go on and I switch to Road mode. This bike really can do it all!

You said it had all the bells and whistles but it's missing one, nav! I know you can link your phone and use your phones nav apps or google maps but at the $30,000+ price point it's the only new vehicle that doesn't have stand alone navigation. Kind of a big miss considering every other new vehicle sold in 2023 (2 wheels or 4) for $30K and up has navigation either standard or as an option. Other than that awesome review and bike. Thanks!

Honestly, I rather NOT have a built in nav. They rarely are as good as google maps and get outdated quickly.

would you think would be a good trade to trade my 21 harley ultra snake venom for a 23 BMW GTL.. they seem really nice.. the harley is great and all but so much you have to do to make it even better and im at the point of not wanting to add more and even if i do the GTL would still smoke it and have more tech to it.. only think im concered is reliability on motor and what not
@joshmorrisofficial Жыл бұрын
I think that would be a very good trade! The motorcycle is absolutely amazing. Your maintenance will cost more on the BMW in the long run, but it will be much more reliable than the high mileage Harley motors. Only thing Harley has on BMW is the cool factor, for which they run circles around the German machines.

I’ve had several road glide cvo bikes and the bmw 6 cylinder engine is so much more massively powerful. The bmw k1600 had some issues in the earlier years around 2012 but the later models are bulletproof as they have fixed the problems. I’ve had one for a few years and it’s absolutely brilliant. I had a crate 131 engine on one of my bikes and it was great but this k1600 produces even more torque than that.
@dennythomas8887 Жыл бұрын
You know when it comes down to it Cody, it's really a personal choice. what and how do you want to ride? A BMW is really quiet, smooth and has a ton of power BUT at the cost of being basically locked into a single seating position and posture with little to no after market or factory options to make the bike fit you and the way you ride. Harley on the other hand is loud, vibrates and has less power. BUT there's just about any option you could think of to make the bike fit you, your riding posture, and riding style. I ride a 2016 Harley Ultra Limited. It's got over 50K miles on it now but they have all been trouble free so far. The only maintenance has been tires, oil, and filters. Since I've owned it I've added 14" bars, highway pegs, mustang seat, clockworks windshield, V & H X-pipe with slip-ons. Now it fits me (I'm 6-1 200 lbs.). My riding style, my riding posture like a glove. If the BMW fits you physically and the way you ride, Go for it! It's an awesome ride. However keep in mind that if the bike doesn't physically fit you there's not much you can do about it. Go test ride one and see what you think!

I still think this bike has a wondering issue on the expressway. BMW riders complain about BMW’s inability to solve this issue and it started way back with the K1200GT and has followed through to the current model. They have taken the arm rests off the GTL version to save a buck, the top case break light is extra…. Should be standard, and why with tech as it is are we having to link phone gps with this massive TFT ? Really, this isn’t a review, yet a sales video.

I don't know if the Stereo is better on the Goldwing but a 30,000 dollar mega touring Bike whose stereo is unusable above 45 mph is infuriating. It isn't that difficult to put a pair of good quality speakers that can be heard at highway speeds. Plus they make them specifically at an odd size so they can't be upgraded in any way. I love the bike but that is a huge turn off for me. All together it probably wouldn't turn me away from the bike and convince me to buy something else but it just feels like a huge oversight.

Why are Americans so much inclined to need to say the word "motorcycle" so often? It is truly bizarre! Why say a 4-syllable word when a 1-syllable word will do - just say 'BIKE'. Not rocket science, so weird, almost every sentence had the word motorcycle in it. It is an odd American thing - nobody else says it. Keannu Reeves, God luv him, I noticed is the same. it is a BIKE ferrr chrisssakes! Sharpen up stateside! Good review otherwise though, many thanks.
