Gas mileage is pretty impressive so far. Commute to work on a 20 mile highway stretch -> consistently above 34mpg without really trying. 35.2 this morning!

Not liking the LCI Some exterior features look cheaper than last years model. The large screen dash looks like a glued on after thought. Older garage door openers are much harder to program! New ones it press and done!

Hi @Robert Pellegrini! Good video! I have a similar question as John. Do you feel comfortable with this M340i's suspension? I knew this is a fast car but I still wanted it to be comfortable for daily driving. Do you think the Adaptive M Suspension is really a good deal to choose ($550) and is it better to add this suspension or not? I plan to buy one M340i recently but have been told no storage and all cars on the production line have been ordered. I have to order one for myself and wait for 4 to 5 months for delivery. So I don't get a chance to test drive one. Last, have you driven an Audi S5? What do think?

Hi - I feel comfortable with the standard suspension (without Adaptive M Suspension). However, driving home this evening, I'm starting to wonder if it would have been better to get it. I definitely feel the bumps... smooth roads are fine but a bumpy stretch on the highway is kind of annoying with continuous vibration. In hindsight, I would buy the Adaptive M Suspension option for $550. I have driven the S4. The M340 seems stiffer.

Great video! Love this color, actually prefer it over Brooklyn Grey which is too "blue" in my opinion. I'm surprised your car does not have the electronic trunk release. I know BMW had deleted this feature during COVID but I thought it would be back by now.

Here are some initial thoughts. Recent cars are Audi A4 and Q5. Overall user interface is not as good or intuitive as Audi - horn is hard to press - sport/comfort/eco drive selection is by the shifter and requires looking to press the right option - dashboard display does not have many layout options, no dials, lots of empty space - iDrive knob buttons are indistinguishable requires looking - touch screen is complicated - cruise control settings are not intuitive and require looking - steering wheel audio controls on right side scroll wheel not for volum - right side of touch screen is too far to reach - parking sensor warning is not very loud (may be adjustable) - comfort mode doesn't seem to have efficient gliding, only eco - regenerative braking is too much and requires stepping on the gas - lock/unlock beeps are too loud Positives - car is beautiful - car handles great - very quick if you step on it - got 34.7mpg going to work (highway) - seats are comfortable - quiet inside Overall I am still getting used to the car... Only 250 miles

@@robwheels I disagree with the comment on lack of dashboard customisation. There are plenty of options to change both the dials and what is shown in the middle such as maps or media

@@robwheels I own a 2021 w/Idrive 7 and can tell you it felt strange for about two weeks and I was coming out of a 16 340i XDrive so it should have felt familiar. But, give it time… I think it will end up being your favorite car you’ve ever owned. I have 27k on mine now and just love it. It is so many cars in one and has very few compromises. Thankyou for the video I have driving BMW since 2001 I now drive a 2011 328 xi Coupe and considering the exact same car as you have shown which looks beautiful… couple of questions 1- do you find the car jolts much when the regenerative braking kicks in? 2- when I have my 2008 335 sedan the ride with run flats was very stiff and uncomfortable my 328 couple has a softer ride…so if I order this car I will spec it with non run flats…. How do you find the ride comfort with the new car?
@robwheels Жыл бұрын
to your questions: regenerative braking - i think it's only active in Comfort mode. the car does not jolt, but it does slow down. for example when approaching a light, you might take your foot off of the gas and expect to get there. the regeneration seems to slow it down more so you might have to leave your foot on the gas a smidge. in Eco mode, the car prefers to coast (as if it was in neutral) and maybe it shuts the engine off. In some cases it's almost too fast which means you have to apply the brake slightly (which I think is regenerative vs actual brakes). run-flats comfort - i was a bit concerned about the comfort because i did not order the Adaptive M Suspension option. however, the ride is great. it's definitely firm and feels very grippy to the road, but not bothersome in any way. of course i have been trying to avoid potholes to protect the wheels. I test drove a Tesla last fall and it sounds like it slows down the same way as your car when in comfort mode with the reg braking system ...I'm just nervous about a harsh ride as I experienced in my 335 sedan back in 2008. I like performance but don't want to feel every pebble i drive over. Unfortunately if a '23 M340 comes into the showroom here in Ottawa it is already sold and cannot be driven for obvious reasons
@robwheels Жыл бұрын
@@johnspagnoli482 definitely not as dramatic regeneration as the Tesla.... it's more subtle. I also had a hard time finding a car to test drive when i ordered back in October. I think it should be possible now.

I do not notice much regen braking in comfort mode compared to most EVs. It’s very subtle. I do notice it will just seemingly coast forever in Eco though… more than almost any car I’ve driven. I have AVERAGED 31.6mpg over 27,000 miles of driving half freeway and half city and most of that driving is in comfort mode. Though I do have my “test tracks” where I drive it quite hard every now and then. As for the ride, I highly recommend the adaptive suspension. It is worth its weight in gold both becoming more comfortable and more stiff than the regular suspension. If you don’t get the adaptive suspension, then only do runflats with 18” wheels or regular tires with 19” wheels, otherwise the suspension will be unnecessarily busy on rough roads. If you do this however, it will be a SUPER comfy luxury ride when you want it and still grip like crazy (with the right tires) when you want it to. I’ve tried all combos (18,19, and 20” wheels with and without runflats and with and without adaptive suspension). I will say regardless of your tire setup, the G20 chassis is just sooo much better than the F30 or E90 chassis over harsh pavement.

The front bottom grill is ugly, the large screen is too much and the rear design is off and looks high. The 2021/22 body and interior was the last good design. Hopefully they figure it out!!
