After I have stopped the car, is there a P button that I can push to engage the car in complete stop ? Also, if I remotely start the engine and hop into the car, do I need to press the start button again to start the car, press down to release the emergency brake and drive off ?

You just need to press handbrake button to engage p

I test drove the 2023 X1 yesterday. Extremely impressive in person.The 2022 VW Tiguan is 8 inches longer

Yes. And tow hook folds automatically by pushing a button.
