The BMW XM is proudly trumpeted as only the second-ever dedicated M-car, after the exotic mid-engined M1 of the late-1970s.
It’s a bold claim for a 2700kg-plus SUV and one it fails to live up to, BMW M’s first-ever electrified model offering a wide array of individual talents that fail to make a cohesive whole.
It’s fast, fun to drive in its own way and has a lovely interior, but refinement is poor, it’s hamstrung by its hybrid system and other BMW SUVs are more attractive propositions for less money.

I would expect a journalist to be a little more lateral thinking. I love this car because it’s different. Who wants to buy an X5 M and blend in with all the thousands of X5’s on the road. This car is for trendsetters who are tired of the current lineup of boring designs. This car is a great blend of future trends with style and performance. It’s not trying to be the fastest M car out there. Remember how hated the X6 was back in 2012 when it was released and look at how successful it has been. As for the price, a Ford F150 Raptor R starts at USD 105k so this car almost seems like a bargain when compared to that.

Oh, don't worry! If you try it for yourself, you'll experience how smooth and comfortable it is. Maybe you should consider riding a Range Rover with its air suspension.
