2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid: The Toyota Sienna Doesn't Even Compete

I have a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. We love it! 51K on the Odometer with no issues. We have used it to transport drywall, lumber in the morning and and then 6 adults to a Tiger baseball game in the evening. We have the entertainment package with 2 -10" monitors for the kids to watch movies or play games built right into the seats. Great built in babysitter. The wife said we are never going back to a SUV again. Better ride, quite , great HK stereo system. You can't beat this vehicle. On average with our weekly 200+ miles we put on her we average 38-40 mpg.

Well, my 2017 Pacifica was very reliable before 80k and after 80k, we had so many issues, ac evaporator went bad, break booster went bad, lower control arm went bad, oil leak, coolant leak, tailgate lock went bad. Jesus, the car was basically falling apart. To be honest, I will pick Toyota over Chrysler, that’s why I got a sienna, I don’t care about how powerful it is, I just want it work

Just recommendation. Most people buying this vehicle will do so because of larger cargo space. I would spend more time showing that feature by lowering the 3rd row seats and removing the 2nd row seats so we can see how much cargo space it has with eye test. thank you for video.

Quite a shame that they deleted things from Safety Sense. The 360 camera is a very nice feature to have. Reliability has come a long way with these Pacifica’s although the sting of the Z11 battery recall in the ‘17 & ‘18 model years has tainted many buyers.

What I liked more about the Chrysler was the 2nd row seats are removable, it doesn’t take 10 minutes to warm in winter, has a vacuum, has wireless Apple car play, has better backup cameras, has better infotainment, and the whole steering wheel gets hot. The reliability and resale value are major concerns.

I drove one of these for work. The 0-60 isn’t much. But the 60-80 sprint is something else. It shocks me. At-speed the van is very, very fast.

I just bought a Pacifica Hybrid 2022, moved from a 2021 Sienna (had no option). After picking up the new Pacifica, found out about all the reliability issues in posts, and now I'm super concerned about the decision I made. What are the improvements made and thoughts on reliability for post-facelift models?

@@lvsantiago I think you might be reading it wrong. The lower end mechanical warranty is not available on hybrids. As long as you got the maximum care warranty it does cover the hybrid components. Here are the exclusions on the maximum care plan.The only parts and labor not covered: • Maintenance Services and items used in such services • Catalytic Converter and Particulate Filter • Glass, Plastic Lenses and Light Bulbs • Body and Paint items (including Soft Trim) • Snowplows, Winches and Trailer Hitches • Wear items (such as Tires, Manual Clutch Assembly, Brake Pads, Shoes, Rotors, Drums, Belts and Wipers)

2nd row seats are removable. So you can lower 3rd row seats into floor then remove 2nd row seats and basically have room of flat bed truck.

It's priced way too high. From what I've heard from other owners the EV portion is practically useless if you live in colder areas. Not sure how reliable these are as well. This is probably a van to be used for 3-5 yrs and sold after.

With the tax credit income caped, there is no point choosing the hybrid and you most likely won't get your money back unless you charge for free for years. I got a x5 45e when the credit still there and actually cheaper than the 40i out of the door. I don't see any reason getting the hybrid.

I was told by a salesman you can get up to 30 miles electric and then you have switch over to gas...I hope this helps.

Your title is BAIT. SIENNA is MUCH better. Check JD Power and CR. I owned a 2017 Pacifica gas only. No issues at all, bought a brand new 2020 hybrid issues from day 1. Multi-cylinder misfires with no fix , sold it to Carvana 4 months later. In a move of insanity ordered a new one in August, rented a Sienna in November. Cacncled my Pacifica when it arrived and am looking for a Sienna. I drive a 2019 BMW i3S as a daily. Van is for the dogs, they like to travel, but just couldn’t trust the Pacifica hybrid. FCA is still not serious about fixing the gremlins. Good good

unfortunately you bought wrong year. 2020 notorious for issues. 2023 rating for Pacifica is much better for reliability. Few other things, starting in Jan 2024 the 7,500 credit for Pacifica hybrid is instant at dealership (no longer need to do it thru tax return), Sienna is not eligible for any credits. Sienna missed and missed badly on fact that their 2nd row seating can not be removed like Pacifica. Also, I test drove Sienna and it felt like I was driving card board box down road. I think luck factors into this so if someone gets 2023 or 2024 Pacifica along with 7,500 credit and gets lucky in reliability then Pacifica wins hands down.

Too bad Stellantis doesn't offer the hybrid in the base Pacifica. The Pacifica is around 7-8k more for a hybrid as compared to the Sienna. Hopefully the newer Stellantis vans are better quality than the 2014 vans. Transmission and brake issues have plagued us from day one. All the dealer says is that it is normal for these vans. We'll this attitude will cost Stellantis a van customer.

Needs AWD in the hybrid and a complete redesign. Looks dated but still cool. Proprietary Audio tech is horrible and buggy. Stow and go is world class. Nicer looking w/black out package. It was fast with the V6 alone and I got 18mpg combined beating in it. Brakes are excellent. Felt like low 7’s zero-60. It’s gotta be quicker with the hybrid option. The Sienna is a dog but its interior is first class. Plug ins suck when you can’t find a spot to charge it. Conventional hybrid (self regen) is the way to go with a rear elec motor for the AWD setup. Hurry up Chrysler.
