I love your orchard and greenhouse! Now I need to remember to email you to ask whether the grafts succeeded on some specific trees I'm hoping to buy from you... I really look forward to growing them! And your greenhouse is inspiring me to put one up; right now I overwinter tender plants inside a sunroom in my house, but that's getting quite crowded. Please keep on making tour videos like this. You have no idea how inspiring it is!

Post more vids. Alot of people think we can't grow citrus in SC. I just got a satsuma, meyer lemon, improved meyer lemon and a limequat last year. The more people grow food then the better for the world. You can't really trust what they put in the stores these days

Thank you, Stan, I enjoyed the tour. I think when I come visit the farm in April I will have a hard time choosing which citrus to grow! I do have a small greenhouse 10'x30" so I think I could find room for a couple of trees in there as well.

Hey Mr McKenzie this is Mrs Taft from Georgia, the lady who bought two satsumas Feb 2024. They are doing well in 20 gal containers, but the few buds on one did not hold. Will I get more buds this year? I'm not planning to bring them indoors for the Winter. I'm thinking ahead and want to know what you think. If I build 6 ft brick wall and put them against it, and erect a structure with PVC and cover it with green house plastic, sort of a cheap greenhouse. Then when it begins to get cold, keep Christmas lights on and shroud them with bags and frost cover would that be good or bad? I love your greenhouse and would love to have one on a smaller scale, but I'm afraid my husband would not go for it🤣. In fact, he'd probably laugh me out of the house🤣🤣

Young trees dont tend to hold fruit as well as older more established trees. If you are going to keep them outside in pots.. be sure to wrap the pots with some type of insulating material to make sure the rootsystem doesn not freeze. The mini greenhouse and some extra heat on colder nights should work. Thanks!

Thanks for the advise Stan. What about the wall. Does it make sense to build a brick wall and place the pots in front of it?

Just my opinion, But before I would invest money in building a brick wall, I would take that money and invest in a sturdy greenhouse to overwinter my tender trees in.

Is your greenhouse uncovered in summers with the heat? I have a smaller greenhouse 10x12 and was thinking about planting a citrus tree in the grown vs the pot. I just wasn’t sure if it would be to hot in the summer
@TheCitrusman
@TheCitrusman 7 ай бұрын
No, I leave the cover on. I have a vent at the back of the house and a large fan that pulls cool air from the outside. Remember, citrus grow in the Arizona desert, so they can tolerate some pretty hot temperatures.

Do you sell air layered citrus trees too or Just grafted? I have grafted citrus but the grower and others have told me that I need to wait 3 years before I let them fruit so the tree can grow roots as well as it's above ground structure or it can stunt it's growth and prevent it from being as fruitful as I would like them to be, but apparently Air layered trees don't have that problem. I would like a meiwa kumquat and a sweet Palestinian lime. Thanks

I have all the lemon I need/want right now , I'm looking for an air layered meiwa kumquat and a sweet Palestinian lime, and an orange variety that I don't know what the variety is, they are about the size of a normal orange I think but ovalish in shape,super sweet with no acidity and no tartness. I want them to be trees that are mature enough that I can safely allow to fruit this spring, thanks.

I should have gone to your Nursery and gotten my plants instead of requesting to ship them to me. Seems like everyone likes you and your nursery, so a trip to SC would have been better. I did order 2 plants from your nursery but I was very disappointed with the plants that arrived via UPS. They are so tiny and barely have any roots, not in good health. Plus the cold weather did not help. I am hoping they will survive even though I don't expect any blooms or flowers in a few years. I wish there were more information about the plants such as age, height, condition of the plants etc.
@citrusman99
@citrusman99 6 ай бұрын
Noyon, Im sorry you were disapointed with your plants. When you order 1gal plants, they will usually be smaller in size and non fruit bearing. Larger size trees while more expensive usually have fruit and blooms in a shorter time frame as opposed to 1gal material. Im sorry that we dont list a full biography of each individual plant we stock.

Depends on how it was grown. IF it is a seedling grown tree... it takes years! If a grafted tree or rooted cutting... they flower immediately
