In 3 seconds I see a build that finally showcases the build stance that complements the design elements better than any Colorado build to date. Beauty.

I really don't know much about these trucks, but they sure are good looking. Nice job on the seat delete! It's good to see clean wiring too. One thing though! Your rear spring shackle appears to be nearly vertical. Is that correct? That shackle should be sitting at 20 to 30 degrees off of vertical If the shackle is vertical, it will result in a harsh ride, higher stress on the spring, and it could even eventually lead to spring failure. Strictly speaking, you need to measure the angle from the datum line between the two spring eyes, but I'm trying not to confuse the hell out of you. This is actually a common thing that I see with modified leaf springs. I just did a search about this and found some pretty good KZbin tutorials. I suggest you have a look!
@outlandishoverland7 ай бұрын
Thank you. From the instructions provided from Leveled Up and the pictures they provided in their instructions they look exactly like mine, so based on that, they are correct? I didn't know about the angle you mentioned and will definitely look more into it. Not sure if the angle specifically applies to a more aggressive shackle, but I will take a look into it. Thanks

how close are you to the weight limit with that topper? was thinking of going with the bison, but because of all the extras, the bison only has about 1,050lbs left where as the zr2 has around 1,400lbs of play.
@outlandishoverland22 күн бұрын
Actually the ZR2 non-bison has a payload of 1151 lbs. This topper only weighs 300lbs. It really depends on how you build out the back with the weight. I built it myself designing it pretty much as lightweight as possible. Right now with my build out and all the equipment and us in the vehicle we are basically at the payload capacity right now.

I'm confused about the spare tire. I thought the Bison's is mounted to the bed because that size does not fit under the body yet yours is down there. I would go with the bison if it wasn't for that spare taking up all the space in the bed. How did yours fit under the bed and chevy could not figure out the same on the Bison???
@outlandishoverland29 күн бұрын
I don't have a full size spare underneath. It's the factory 33" tire still underneath

@@outlandishoverland oh that makes sense. Fyi I found a comment under another zr2 video where the guy said he was able to fit a 35 under the bed. Do you think yours would fit? It seems to be wider than the ones on the Bison.

I almost bought a 2024 zr2 buson in this sand dune metalkic color but i decided just to buy a regular zr2 in the harvest brinze metallic color. That daved me an extra about 12 grand. Now i am about yo change out tge stock wheels and tires. Debating whether to go with method or black rhino wheels in bronze,gold or black color. Might go with pizza cutter size wheeks in 255/80r 17 or 255/85r17 sizes. That way my gas economy does not tak as bad of a hit. Also trying yo devide what brand if tires i want to.put on tge yruck. I had the opportunity to test drive one in February in Salt Lake City at a dealer that had 3 ZR2's come in at the same time. I went down there 90% sure that I was going to trade in my 2014 F150 Ecoboost for it, but I gotta be honest, after the test drive I was kind of disappointed in the powertrain. It did NOT feel like it was making the torque the claim. This was coming from my 1400 lb heavier F150 that makes less torque(on paper) and was on the same exact tires but in a 315/70R17 from a Bronco sasquatch. It should have felt significantly stronger than my F150. I ended up walking away. I could have bought it that night but I had also test driven several gladiator EcoDiesels in the prior weeks and felt it was much stronger and all around a better truck(IMHO). Ultimately, I didn't buy the Gladiator either because they have significant cooling issues while towing, which I need my truck to do. If it were not for the towing issues, I would have a Gladiator Rubicon EcoD in my garage. All I am saying is, do your due diligence. The ZR2 was a fine truck but it was not going to fit my needs.

Hey i saw you recently changed the fluid on your front and rear diffs. Any advice on interval timing, fluid choice or anything else? Manual doesnt have any info unfortunately. Super sick build btw been watching since you first got it
@outlandishoverland7 ай бұрын
Interval timing all depends on how you use your truck. I just changed mine just due to the break-in of the components, I figured it was going to be metal shavings in the diffs. I plan to change my diff fluids every 30k miles or so. I used Mobil 1 Delvac 75w90 because it's one of the few 75w90 oils that doesn't use limited slip additives in it. You don't want LSD additives due to our lockers.

@outlandishoverland7 ай бұрын
Performance wise you really don't feel them driving around, the torque the 2.7L makes is more than enough to move them around. Gas mileage took a little hit the problem is I put on the topper and tires very close to each other so I don't know exactly which affected my MPG more but I dropped with the addition of both about 2 MPG. I average currently on the highway at 70-75 MPH at around 15-16 MPG
