As great as Cole is and as great as he played, just think about what it takes to win on tour. Course record rounds at both courses. Then every break possible final round. No Eagle, no Mcbeth and a ton of Euros not there. I don’t care what anyone says, wins today hold a lot more weight than Climo days.
@winstonsmith11 Жыл бұрын

But 9 world championships in a row?? While some of them were 10 rounds long?? While chain smoking cigarettes and god knows what else?? Ken Climo is the greatest of all time. You can argue that the field strength wasn’t as tough back then but you could also say that even if it was, Kenny was so good that nobody cared about the other players

For sure. So much more competition today then even three years ago when it was Paul, Ricky or Eagle or a small hand full of others were taking most the majors. Winning a major is such an amazing feat and requires almost flawless execution for 3-4 days in a row, not just having 1 or 2 hot days. I love the sport and love seeing better and better competition each year. So great to see.

It's really rare to see wins like this in the last couple years, where someone just absolutely blows the field away. I literally don't remember the last time I saw a 5 stroke victory on the MPO, let alone being _17 strokes(!)_ clear of 10th. That's wild.

I have even more respect for how good those guys are after playing Lake Eureka (played MA1) and caddying for my brother at Northwood (MJ18 playing the short tees). When I played Eureka the day before this in the wind and rain I thought I was doing well at +3 through 9... before shooting +13 after the back 9... which was still 980 rated. And at Northwood pretty much any hole would be the hardest on most local courses - and then you look back at the long tee and think "It's physically possible for people to birdie from there?"
