Hi, I'm trying to decide between the 88 and 96 ripstick. I mostly ski blue runs with the kids in Vermont and New Hampshire a dozen times a year. 6 ft tall, 160 lbs. Are the 88s strong enough to handle the icy days and the messy snow at the end of the day? Thanks!

At 5'9" 170lbs. Beginning expert I found the 88s too soft. Constantly seeking purchase on hard snow is fatiguing.

The 96 ripstick will do okay in the conditions you describe, but the 82 CTI performs better on ice in my experience. I can't speak to the 88. 96 feels a little wide for the NE on most days unless you like skiing glades, doing jumps...

What are the differences between the Ripstick tour and the Ibex?

Is the Elan Ripstick Black that much stiffer than a regular? I am an advanced intermediate that likes to do moguls, trees, bowls, and some groomers (with friends who like to rip). Drawn to the black edition, wondering if the green is a better choice for me.

For softer snow and scenarios where you will be taking shorter turns the green is definitely easier and feels more forgiving compared with the black edition. However.. compared to stronger skis like the Volkl Mantra, Mindbender 99ti, etc.. the black edition will still be a more playful option. Hope this helps

Can anyone explain the difference between the regular and "flat" versions of this ski? The Elan website doesn't address this anywhere I can see.

It means that it does not include a system binding

@@winteriscalling3063 - Thanks. But then, why are the prices the same for flat vs regular ??

I’m a 160 lb 5’9” guy advanced on piste and intermediate off piste who skis all the mountain and is thinking the green 96 would be my choice , I was wondering what length?

Interesting. They are trying to grow the channel and get sponsors, but even with only 9 comments, they haven't responded to a comment in 4 months.

I am 6'1, a little lighter than you, an upper intermediate skier, and I am happy with the 181.

Would you recommend ripstick 88 over enforcer 88 for east coast groomers?
@winteriscalling30632 жыл бұрын
Both are good skis for the East and you will see a lot of them out on the slopes. Ripstick will be a more forgiving ski and also lighter and easier in bumps/ trees/ occasional fresh snow. Enforcer is going to be a bit better when the speed is turned up but only marginally. I personally enjoyed ripstick more due to its user friendly design and playful personality

Elan YOU LOOK BAD, How unprofessional, OMG. opens a beer , and then the guy wants to present your ski line.

You do realize elan has teamed up with breweries and “makes” beer? If beer in a ski video offends you then maybe try a different sport like sledding?

As the guy in the video, and having been provided Elan branded beer by Elan, I don’t think they are too concerned with it 😉 But if you are interested, they partner with Woodstock Brewery in New Hampshire if you ever want to try it! I’d be more than happy to do a beer review if you’d like!
