I just love your channel, and your ruminations. As a 66 year old widow, I totally get your reluctance and hesitancy to share too much of your personal life, regardless of the massive successes. The barn wall is so impressive, physical pain is as well, mental pain even more so. Best wishings for 2024. May your family experience many blessings.

Hello Living in the Loire! I just found you guys through the video “2 years in 24 minute” and fell in love with your family and the way you choose to say things and live your life 🧡 ☀️ This is my second video and I will for sure continue to follow you because you both are very inspiring. It feels genuine. Love the landscape too, wow! 🤩 Yes to taking care of our physical and mental health! Wishing you all you are wanting and choosing for yourself and your family during 2024 😊

Love your authenticity both. My word for 2024 is Optimism. Backed by a Simon Sinek quote “Optimism is the ability to focus on where we’re going not where we’re coming from.” Stay optimistic! Best wishes.

As a chronic pain sufferer, I think I understand what you have been going through! My pain came from a motorcycle accident 23 yrs ago which literally killed me, but the Doctors saved me! Since that accident I have been riddled with pain and ended up going on a 6 week Pain Management course. This taught me about mindfulness and to understand what my body was telling me and also gave me the ability to manage my pain. I sit down for at least 30 mins each day and go through this practice of mindfulness and it helps me. But every now and then, my body will just say NO! JUST STOP AND TAKE A BREAK! So I do just that. I hope you get to the bottom of it and get better soon. Regards Dave
@LivingintheLoire Жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. Yes I think there are lots of ways to manage it. It's interesting how traumatic events can shape our pain response. I have recently found taking CBD to be a big help. It's helped with stress levels, my body can regulate itself better, sleep and overall mood is so much better. I'd rather not be reliant on it but for this time of year, which I always find difficult it's making a huge difference. Will check out your channel too, take care.
@lorassorkin Жыл бұрын
I also went to a 60 day pain management course, which was truly life changing. I've had chronic pain for 30+ years. Anxiety ruled my life beforehand. Now that I've practiced breathing relaxation techniques, I can calm the anxiety, lower my blood pressure and reduce the pain in 1-2 breaths. I hope the doctors are able to determine a reason for the pain, Brook. Wishing the whole family a healthy new year!

Your story sounds very similar to my wife's and my own. Last year, we decided to wind down a business we own from its current state to something much simpler, because it became something different from what we wanted in the beginning. As you also mention, it's just easier and more time efficient working a more traditional job. We're both much happier for that decision and I trust the same will be true for the two of you. Best of luck in the New Year and with your test results.

The work you have done on your home, especially the walls, is gorgeous!!! And building your garden to sustain you is amazing!!! As the years go by you will think back and wonder how did we do so much. You are the lucky ones, as you get to do this. Best decision you could have ever made. Wishing you both a wonderful year ahead in 2024. Cheers!, from South Florida

I really enjoy this channel, Brook. I can only imagine the stress of having to monetize the comings and goings of one's day-to-day life. Try not to overthink it. I for one love the freewheeling, lighthearted nature of your channel. Go with your gut and post the material you feel is important. A week's worth of barn wall renovations sans talk sounds fabulous to me.
@LivingintheLoire Жыл бұрын
The stress comes from the unpredictability of income, especially if you're relying on it as your main income. Moving forward we won't be, which takes the pressure off. It also means I can go with my heart over head and decline the sponsorships, I can just enjoy the process and anything that comes in will be a bonus. Thanks for watching Max.

I have always had to multitask in my life. When younger I had the energy to do it. Now, I’m tired and I don’t want to multitask anything. I particularly don’t want to do anything at all at the moment and I can take the time to see what develops. Health is a big factor and after having breast cancer I feel that was the point in which my body and mind got a shock but I didn’t know that as I was going through it. Now, I’m reflecting and coming to terms with it all. Only you know what’s happening inside you but not always, so you just need to go through one day at a time until you can start to work something out. People’s expectations are often too high of others but they just have to sshh. It’s easy for people to want others to be something that they want but it’s just not possible most of the time. I’m ok with all of that. Have the best of each day that you can, whatever that is. X

We still post updates on Instagram. We're all fine. I've done a bit of filming but not much. Rebecca works from home all week, so unlike before, all our free time is spent together or with the children rather than editing videos. Unless you are rich or have a lot of savings, KZbin isn't a sustainable way to support a family of four.

Good idea. Hopefully we will have a wood burner between the window and the doors at some point, so we might need a fireproof plasterboard on that big anyway. I think you guys are overthinking it, you live in a lovely part of the world in an interesting home with a lovely family and outlook - that’s what attracts the viewers, nothing more nothing less. Just share whatever feels comfortable and leave it at that, people will watch it, no need to jump through hoops or bend to the will of KZbin or the vagaries of the viewers. In fact all that people genuinely want to see when they watch your videos is authenticity and you guys provide that just being yourselves, no need to put on a show.
@LivingintheLoire Жыл бұрын
I appreciate what you're saying. In the last six months only 10% of subscribers watch a new video. Our overall idea is not clear, we don't have a trust fund to lean on and our execution is slow. In the last 18 months we have been reliant on ad revenue. The verdict, it's not financially sustainable because of the variance in how successful a video performs. To an extent, it's out of ones control. It's no different to winning big on your first spin on the roulette or trying to get that first high again from your drug of choice. You're chasing the next big windfall that never comes. Plus if you're relying on it to feed your family, it's a recipe for disaster.

I'm watching this several months later. As a nurse, I'm alarmed. You appear very pale and unwell here. You actually don't look the same man as in the first Vlog ( I've just seen a few ,for the 1st time, today.) I tend not to watch Vlogs which feature children as, generally, I don't approve of them being exposed to strangers via Social Media. I am British and also live in France. Please see a Doctor, if you haven't already done so, as you appear to be suffering from stress and Chronic fatigue Syndrome ( I suffer the latter , and its no easy road to travel) Finding a root cause can help you enormously. Take good care and do listen to your body! Resting, when it tells you to., is essential . Hard as that may be. Youre doing the right thing by slowing down YT . It can cost you your soul, in the name of making money and subs. God bless you both ,and your beautiful children with a peaceful, happy, healthy life
