Hi Brook and Rebecca, great to see you back on deck after all of the bugs that have plagued you over the past months! Great video, Brook you're a clown, but I could watch you throwing posts all day, so soothing. The tree planting is coming along well Rebecca, you're the master digger! I can't dig a hole to save myself! It's going to interesting watching the garden growing through the seasons, you've made such huge progress with it. Good idea utilising the kitchen window for growing seedlings, I sprout all my cuttings on my kitchen window ledge, and it works a treat all year round. Looking forward to more videos in the near future. Much love and big hugs xxx 😊❤😊

Watching after a snow storm so it's lovely to see you working in the gardens. Tip to protect young tree trunks from rabbits : pull up a pair of hosiery! ( Especially easy on bare root- before you plant) Rabbits don't like the feel of the nylon and won't chew. I have temporarily wrapped the branches, drawing them in so that I could stretch the hose out wide and draw on from over the top but it is best put on before planting. Lasts many years and never 'binds' into the bark. Cut it off once tree girth is such that there is no longer a risk. Good luck with the fruit trees!

1:55 if you like your knees put the seat in the right spot,your legs must extend almost completely when pedaling. You are very very low on the bike with the knees totally bend. I know it is hard to start biking again,but it is really important to ride in the correct position to avoid pain and injuries. An electric bike is a perfect tool to do commuter trips and enjoy the time you expend in the bike. Great video!

Gosh, here in SE Idaho (a high desert actually) We have to go twice as wide and twice as deep as the root ball, plus add peat moss, fertilizer and compost, PLUS regular watering to even hope for a great sappling. But it does pay off in the long run. We now have 9 very large, healthy trees. 20-30 yrs goes by faster than you'd think. 😅 🌳 🏡 🌲

I made a video back in October called: Using my new chipper - My French homestead renovation continues I made the investment in a petrol chipper... It seems chippers costing less than a 1000 are compromised. They will struggle to chip branches that are not reasonably straight and chipping anything with thorns is frankly scary. I rarely use mine. I've decided to chop and drop all around my property now. Good to see you guys :-)

Congratulations for the eBike! Rebecca, it looks to me that you are sitting much too low and therefore you need much more energy to peddle. Here is how I learned it to measure: sit on the seat, the pedal on 6 o'clock. Stretch the leg so that your heel (not your toes!) is on the pedal and adjust the seat accordingly. That is supposed to be the right hight. Happy riding!

My most serious head injury in a bike was not being in one but not realising that my legs were too tired to respond my brain as a consequence after a long cycling trip I left my bike took my helmet off and soon after my legs were not responding and fall down back landing on my head 1st so I had a bleeding head and ambulance rescue. So, please leave your helmet on for at least till 30 min after or at least until you feel you are in a safe place i.e. no long steps down etc balancing on your legs may do not work after cycling.❤

The videos are great but I am sure I am not the only one who would be interested to know the financial story ie how did you buy the house and how do you fund your renovations and your way of life every one who makes similar videos on youtube does the same they leave out the financial side of things
@LivingintheLoire Жыл бұрын
We talk about it a bit in some of other videos - on the live chat I think. There are lots of jobs these days that can be done remotely online so it makes the prospect of living abroad easier if you're not fluent in the local language. How do we fund the renovations? Very, very slowly and doing it ourselves.
@LivingintheLoire Жыл бұрын
I can understand the curiosity. We invested 80% of our capital in the house. We are asset rich, as we own the house and land. This is evident in our lack of progress, lack of tools and constant reusing of materials on the property. If you're coming from a western country UK, Canada, US for example. I imagine it's a fear mindset that's holding you back rather than working out of you can afford to live in a new country. You either need a specific trade skill that won't be replaced by robots in a few years or a diverse range of skills to create income streams, both online and face to face. Also, having no debt, no contracts to cars, phones etc. Living within your means is key to making it work. If it doesn't, then so what, you'll learn so much from the experience. Surely you want to live a life without regrets?
