2023 Genesis GV70 2.5t has One big Problem :All Specs & Test Drive

I have the a 2023 gv70 Advanced, Capri Blue with Havana brown interior. It’s gorgeous! I am in awe every time I drive it, love it! 🥰 Awesome ride and features! The cup holder is just fine, I keep a big Teva cup with handle in it. The touch screen is fine too, I rarely need to touch it because you can use most features with knobs and buttons.

I have the 2023 GV70 2.5t advanced too. mine is autumn green / vanilla and black interior . Best car I’ve ever owned . I look forward to every chance to drive it . IMHO the 2022 / 2023 advanced trim was the sweet spot in Value as the 2024 equivalent is now without many must haves : ventilated front seats , lexicon sound , remote parking , rear window sun shade all now only included in the sports prestige trim.

I have the exact same model / trim just in Cardiff green / vanilla & black interior. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned / driven. Did you notice the interior shapes are based on an airplane wing cut through .. the wave Pattern on the doors is based on a Korean mountain range. I am only 5ft 7 and my regular passengers are a similar height and we all fit in perfectly. I have no issue reaching the infotainment screen from my driving position !. Also no issue reaching the phone or cup holders !. When not accelerating hard, the cabin is whisper quiet . The ride is superb , visibility is good , brakes are excellent and when needed acceleration is there as 300 hp /311 torque would suggest . Fuel economy isn’t great . Best bang for the $ .. dealership support isn’t great either but dedicated Genesis dealerships are now improving the situation .

just ordered my 2022 GV70 2.5T AWD! I was a big fan of Genesis when they brought their Sedan. I drove that for few times since them I'm in love with Genesis!! IT's really smooth, strong depends on how much you are spending! Plus, looks do matter! Always wanted to own one since then! Can't wait

This has a 3500 lb. Towing capacity, yet the owner’s manual does not recommend towing anything. I have an 1800 lb. camper which I would like to tow on occasion, but wanted to have a daily driver that had some pizazz and was not truck-like.

If the tow package is done though the dealership you shouldn’t have any problem 👍

Good to know about the towing capacity in the owner's manual. That is surprising. My wife is looking for a new vehicle and this car is in the running. She has a 4Runner now and I have towed with it on occasion, 5000 lb. rating, but truck like. The new Mazda CX 90 "says" it has a 5000 lb capacity on their site.

The two knobs seem to be misplaced. They should be swapped. Gear changing is only done at start and stop whereas the Infotainment is used more frequently so it should be closer to the armrest where you can rest your forearm while you operate the knob.

That’s not a GDI motor. It has both, direct and multiport injection.

The infotainment screen should be built INTO the dash, not on top as if it were an aftermarket GPS view-obstructing after-thought from the 90s. And all the rims for every trim configuration need a major facelift.

I just cannot bring myself to get a Genesis. Variety of factors. I will consider once they split off from Hyundai dealers nationally, not just a handful. I did test the 2.5 and 3.5 and actually preferred the 2.5 as the 3.5 was to “rough” around the edges. Felt that way about the X3 M40i. Wound up with a loaded up SQ5. This car is overcompensating for my very slow and disappointing NX350. A mid 5’s 0-60 is plenty of power.

I traded my 18 month old Subaru Outback touring XT for the GV70 . Hated the CVT whine, fake super jerky shifts preventing any real enjoyment from the performance. So unsophisticated compared to the Genesis and I didn’t need the size either. Final nail in the coffin was the Harmon Kardon amplifier failing at only 18 months old - not a good omen for longevity . The design elements on the GV70 is sublime in comparison with most brands .. Kudos to the ex Bentley and Porsche designers who worked on this. The ride of the Genesis is as good as the Subaru but is much quieter.

I get it, I am with you. It is unavoidable, the automobile manufacturers keep "one uping" each other. Making all the options selectable would be cost prohibitive. I long for the cars that were all analog, but all the power stuff like, brakes, steering, windows, door locks, etc. have led us to where we are today. I'm just going with it. It is unchangeable. I will buy, if I can, an old vehicle, early 70's or older for a back up and enjoyment. I just bought a 2023 VW GTI 6 Speed, it has a bunch of tech and a heat steering wheel!
