Hey there, I'm 15,000 miles into my 2023 GV70 (purchased brand new). Can't say it's been a great experience. So far, they've replaced 1) Transfer Case 2) Entire Rear Differential 3) Fuel Pump (which was a recall). Its a very smooth, comfortable ride though, and I will say that it's a vehicle which is satisfying to look at inside and out. Sadly, these major factory issues aren't instilling confidence in me for down the road. The depreciation is not great, agreed. Hoping they will do better in the upcoming models. Also would ask them to give hybrid (even plug in hybrid GV70/GV80) options. Best wishes for you!

Good afternoon,I have a 23 GV70 with the 2.5..4 cylinder. I bought mine brand new $57,000 msrp Absolutely love the styling!!!! After several bad local dealership experience like long waits for routine service etc. The final breaking point for myself was when driving 2 miles down the road a stone made its way through the front bumper and punctured my radiator, could not be claimed as awarranty, so that expense fell back on me at the excess cost of over $2000 While at the dealership, I was able to talk to the tech and he was running through part prices for common fail items such as the catalytic converter over $5000 instrument cluster over $10,000 this will be what kills the fate of Genesis long-term. while at the dealership, I had the used car manager appraise my vehicle which was in immaculate condition with 11,000 miles. They would only offer $37,000!!!
@CarsandTechInfo15 күн бұрын
Wow 😐. This sucks that you had such a bad experience at your dealer
@JuanCarlosLTO15 күн бұрын
I had that radiator scenario happen to me 20 years ago and I was able to get it fixed through my insurance. Did you try to make a claim? As far as the cost of repairs in general, they’re off the roof for these modern vehicles. Depreciation is bad, $20k less only 11k miles later is bad. I usually get rid of cars about every 2 years and usually pay the price. 🤷🏻♂️
@adamklein790414 күн бұрын
@ I did make a claim to my insurance so all I was out was my deductible.I love the vehicle and appreciate build quality and the materials used.Looking at the used market and the high repair cost I fear depreciation is going to hit the brand hard.Hope I am wrong,I think I will be going your route early 2000 imports,When they were made to last😃

@adamklein7904 take for instance my 1989 BMW… the return on investment of that car is amazing. I’ve put 110k miles in 11 years. But it doesn’t have the comfort, convenience and safety features of a modern vehicle. That’s why I think a premium vehicle 2015 and back, and unfortunately I can’t look in too many places: Lexus and Acura and maybe Mazda? Or just lease a cool car I want to drive it and return it at lease end. 🤷🏻♂️

Great info and presented intelligently. I'm with you about new and older cars. I'm very disappointed by what new cars have become. I have 3 older cars all working great and affordably, and will probably continue buying older cars considering my bad new car experiences and what they've evolved to be. I see you have both a CD and cassette player too!

I was never a fan of leasing but if one wants to experience the latest and greatest I just don’t see how it’d be wise to keep these things long term. Maybe lease a cool car with a low mileage engagement… 🤷🏻♂️ Nowadays when I see older people holding on to their 15-20 year old car that is in great shape I think that that’s going to be me pretty soon.

Been driving the EV version for a year now with no issues, very happy about it. Note that I'm from Canada and we're supplied from South Korea, as opposed to the U.S. which has U.S.-built cars, and here may lie the issue: It's a brand new plant and may need some more time to get the quality up to the same level as what's been done in Korea since 2 years now. Previously had a 2019 hybrid RAV4 and got rid of it for having a whole Christmas tree of lights in the dash during the first two years for hybrid system malfunctions and didn't trust it in the long run (Also had a fuel pump replaced under recall and one of the arms lifting up the tailgate destroyed a hinge). This is the twin of the Lexus NX, so thinking the Lexus experience would be that much better reliability-wise might be overly optimistic...
@JuanCarlosLTO10 күн бұрын
I love the electric GV70 because it’s identical to the gas version; very good execution! As far as your RAV4 experience, I hear you man, at the end of the day we base our future choices in part in past experiences with the brand. Out of 5 Toyota/Lexus products I had 5 great experiences. But even then I have zero brand loyalty. I really like our GV70 but unfortunately I don’t see ourselves keeping it long term. I’m getting older and was hoping this would be our last new car that we could keep indefinitely. 🤷🏻♂️ This morning wifey drove it to work and she send me a pic of the instrument cluster: all kinds of lights on… 🤣

@JuanCarlosLTO14 күн бұрын
I guess my message would be, right or wrong… I chose Genesis in hopes that it would be closer to Lexus reliability with an undeniable plus in looks and powertrain. Lexus doesn’t build a car based RWD bias suv; the Germans do, but (in my experience) they’re not as reliable as Lexus. So Genesis isn’t any different dependability wise from the Germans. I hope it makes sense. But that’s just my experience, I really hope that other people have uneventful experiences with the brand because it’s a really nice product. 🤷🏻♂️

The quality, fit, and finish of the Mercedes GLC 300 is not what it used to be. I had a 2019 GLC 300. Excellent quality, fit, and finish. I considered a 2024, but I couldn’t stand how much the quality changed for the worse or how badly the interior is designed. Ugly interior. So I purchased a 2025 Genesis GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige in September. It has 2,900 miles. So far, so good. I love it. It’s so beautiful, luxurious, solid, and quiet. The quality, fit, and finish are leagues beyond any of the Mercedes I’ve owned. I’ve been driving Mercedes since 2008.
@JuanCarlosLTO4 күн бұрын
@ @ agree! The interior of the GV70 is as beautiful as it is unique. The 2026 refresh has a tablet style instrument panel in demerit of the interior as I find the current one unlike any other. As far as the latest GLC, the center screen is ill positioned, I haven’t seen it in person but at that angle I think it has to succumb to glare. Good luck with your ownership!

I haven't had any issues with mine since the $12K repair bill, that was covered under warranty to replace the instrument cluster. I do have an annoying rattling noise coming from what sounds like the engine or drivetrain. It's especially noticeable while in reverse, or if I'm going slow, like in heavy traffic. I use the Connected Services, and it alerted me that service was due. I had the service done, but the alert on the app is still there. I contacted Genesis to find out how to get rid of the notice, but have not heard back from anyone.
@JuanCarlosLTO15 күн бұрын
Yeah, I don’t think the app is that well integrated. And I’m critical of it because I hope Genesis listens to owners who came from other brands. If Genesis wants to retain them/us, it’s imperative that they fix what doesn’t work. I really like our GV70 but I need to trust it in a way that I trust Lexus. Lexus can be “boring” and literally doesn’t have a vehicle to compete with the GV: (car based, RWD bias) and that’s one of the reasons I made the move. 🤷🏻♂️ And don’t take me wrong, I don’t know crap… I’d probably run a business to the ground) but I’d make that extended 10 year drivetrain warranty to second owners, at least when it’s sold between private parties.
@GaylordRomerosa15 күн бұрын
@JuanCarlosLTO for sure. I'm going to wait another year or two. If anything else comes up that's even moderately concerning, I might just see what Acura does with the new RDX redesign, and may jump ship at that point.
@JuanCarlosLTO15 күн бұрын
I really liked the RDX when I test drove it in 2018. Really good powertrain. I was also waiting for the redesign this time that never came… typical Honda/Acura move, so slow to catch up with the new CR-V platform.

I have a 3.5 spots prestige. For some reason i would randomly get 5 check engine light when i start the vehicle mostly when I remote start it. I would restart the vehicle and 4 of the check engine light would go away the last light would automatically go away about a day or two. Take it to genesis for repair they clear the codes and couldn't determine what was causing those codes. Still having the same problem so i have a upcoming appointment on December 3rd to take it back to get it checked out. Have this vehicle 19 months with 11,400 miles on it.
@JuanCarlosLTO15 күн бұрын
Well, that certainly sucks! I’m a very simple man, I don’t like to take my car to the shop for just any minor reason so I can tolerate stuff up to a point. Example: I’ve had other cars with like rattles, even lose trims and I just wing it like that until I have something else to take it in for… but when it’s a recurring problem I’d be annoyed AND specially thinking long term; eventually you’re not going to be covered with full warranty. That’s why, in part, I wouldn’t keep a BMW, or Audi beyond manufacturer’s warranty. Two modern BMW’s went downhill soon after the 50k mile mark. I wonder if I’ll just stick with Toyota/Lexus from now on. Boring but predictable and reliable.

2 months for a service appointment sounds accurate in many parts of the country. What good is a 10 yr warranty if you have to wait months for service.. At the end of the day its still a Hyundia.. 😮
@JuanCarlosLTO14 күн бұрын
The 10 year warranty does offer reassurance. My buddy was able to get an engine replacement at actually over 100k since he was able to prove that the problem originated before the 100k mark. Unfortunately it’s not transferable to a second owner which in my opinion would boost the resale value. Thank you for watching my video!

I have had two Geniuses as rental cars in the last few months. One was a GV80, loved driving it for 8 days on vacation in Yellowstone NP. Had an issue with auto shut off, twice it did not automatically restart when I took my foot off the brake. It was really concerning since I was in middle of intersection and getting it into park in a panic with that round control. After that the check engine light would come and go. It otherwise than that I loved that vehicle. Last weekend we had a sedan, 70 something? It drove very smoothly but was too small for my taste. Right before we returned it a warning came onto about the radar was blocked by something and may not be working. Both vehicles were low mileage and made we wonder about quality issues. I guess I will stick with Lexus for next vehicle.
@JuanCarlosLTO13 күн бұрын
Wow! Yeah, it sucks that these vehicles are a victim to their own technology. Start/stop feature is NOT smooth when you don’t have at least a mild hybrid system. I’ve experienced in other vehicles that are hybrid and are not nearly as laggy as this GV70. I ended up disabling it for the same reason. Same thing with the auto hold feature that prevents the vehicle from creeping up… a bit slow and if you use it along with the start stop feature then the anxiety at every intersection is real 🤣.

@JuanCarlosLTO I REALLY don't like the Auto Hold function. I've had it on 3 other vehicles in addition to the GV70 and disabled it on all of them. I don’t understand what purpose it serves, especially when vehicles with Auto Hold also have a Hill Hold function, the one time auto hold really has value. OTOH, I rather like, or at least don't object to, the Auto Stop function. I don’t find it at all laggy unless Auto Hold is active.

I m seriously looking to buy 2025 gv70. One thing i noticed is the sunroof is very much tinted. I understand its needed in very hot states, but feels like there isn't much option to have more sunlight inside the cabin and feels way too dark. What are your thoughts about it, since you own one?
@JuanCarlosLTO14 күн бұрын
Funny because it’s listed as one of the things I dislike about this vehicle. I made a video about these 5 things. I like to be pragmatic my approach: it’s too dark. How so? At night, driving in town you hardly see the typical lighting variations above you. On the open road you can’t see the stars. In a sunny day it’s good as you don’t feel you head toasting like I experienced in our Tesla Model Y but I think Genesis went too far with the tinting. On many occasions I simply forget it’s open. 🤷🏻♂️

Genesis is South Korean. The South Korean people are very passionate about skincare. They are most especially passionate about protection from the sun’s UV rays. Unlike Americans, South Korean people commonly wear sunscreen every day. My guess is that they tinted the sunroof so dark to provide greater protection from the sun’s UV rays. ☀️😎

I'd personally would only purchase, 3.3T or 3.5T because these are most reliable engines Hyundai has. The 2.0 is known to be unreliable.

I want to be fair in my assessment. My sister has had a 2016 Sonata with the 2.4 and it has been super reliable. Alike, my friend has had a Kia Optima that needed an engine replacement and he got one free of charge otherwise the car has been pretty good. Now my coworker has a Teluride and he swore by it and for these first hand testimonies I thought I could give this GV70 a chance… shortly after my friend’s Teluride started having all kinds of issues 🤣🤷🏻♂️

I don’t know how old you are but there was a car I loved that reminds me of this one: the 2003 Infiniti M45; short lived, great looking, good powertrain, bad reputation that killed it. The subsequent generation wasn’t as problematic but gone were the looks too.
