2023 Genie Plus Strategy for Hollywood Studios at Disney World: Our Latest Tips & Tricks

Quick trip report for anyone questioning whether Rob’s method works…I did 27 rides/shows between yesterday and today. This includes getting to AK late (because I flew into Orlando yesterday morning) plus taking about 3 or so hours back in my hotel mid-day to rest. If I wanted to keep pushing I could have done even more. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into your videos Rob. It is so appreciated and you deserve the world!

There's no way we can go to Disney without Genie+ now! We got to ride everything in Hollywood Studios by 2pm and then park hopped over to Epcot and rode a decent amount as well! Thanks! You made my visit a HUGE success. I followed your Genie+ hack which worked perfectly. We were resort guests so we took advantage of early entry. We went to Rockin, Tower and Micky's RR all without LL so our first one was MFSR at 930. We played the slots and it worked like you said. One tip I have and it's a crap shoot, but we were a late arrival for Slinky but I noticed it was down so we headed over there for TSM and by the grace of God it reopened as we got there. We were a walk on and booked TSM and got right on it after Slinky. Thank you!

Your advice is the best! We follow all of your tips for all of the parks, and always have success! Just tonight, we got in line for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at 9:52, the wait time was posted at 60 minutes. It took us 20 to get through the line and we walked out in an uncrowded park at 10:40.

Hi Rob, thanks for replying… one quick question.. we are going to rope drop as well as using Genie+ as we want to ride Rise first thing… are the genie plus slots 1 hour slots so we would have time to ride Rise and then get to our first LL?????

@@LisaQuinlan01 yes - and you have a 20 minute grace period (and usually even more of a grace period than that - it is up to the Cast Members after 20 minutes, but if you say you got stuck in the Rise line, they’ll almost certainly let you on even if you’re an hour late.

How did you find booking lightning lanes for 5 people? We're going with a party of 5 and on some of Rob's videos he says it can be difficult if you have more than 4.

@@jonny5alive7 It was too bad...we played the Genie Slots a lot and eventually were able to move up times and take advantage. Just follow Rob's advice and it will eventually work out. We didn't stand in a line longer than 30 minutes at that was for all 5 of us AND during the end of June beginning of July. i have vlogs from each day of our trip up on my channel if you want to see how/what we did! Hi Jacquie! We are definitely planning on it, but that one and Epcot are tough because all the bells and whistles includes extended evening hours at those parks. We tried to film it at Epcot and we were too exhausted to finish. 😂 Going from early entry to EEH without breaks is TOUGH. We did our Disney trip in June (and used so may EarScout tips) but I still love watching your videos. Especially with planning out future trips. Everything is so tangible and I knew just what to expect and execute at the park thanks to your guides. I really appreciate that your account shows how to plan out and maximize and does *not* use single rider options so you can really see how to space out rides and work Genie+. So many accounts are fun and have ride # challenges but most people go in groups so it’s not realistic.

Hey Rob! I have a very short solo trip coming up (mid-August) since I’ll be in Orlando for a conference. For my one full park hopper day, I am SO torn on where to start. I think it’s going to be HS though. Do you think I should try for a Slinky LL when I book at 7AM but rope drop (early hours because I’m staying in a WDW hotel) over to Rise of the Resistance? Also, do you think at 2 I should hop to AK (since it closes earlier) to see what I can get done before finishing at Epcot and hoping I can knock out what I can there? I’m not worried about MK because the next day I have a ticket to MNSSHP. Sorry for all the questions..would just really love some advice to try and maximize the one full park hopper day I have. I’ll be flying solo too and trying to take advantage of any single rider lines I can. Thank you so much.

Hello! Thanks again for the generous SuperThanks! That’s very kind of you. I would say doing Rise for early entry and booking slinky as your first Genie Plus makes a lot of sense as long as you are there early enough to be among the first folks in the park (the rise line can get really long really fast, even during early entry). As for whether you should start in HS, Epcot or AK, I would say Guardians might be a consideration there. If you really want to ride that one and you don’t plan on buying the Individual Attraction Lightning Lane, you’ll need to start at Epcot. Also keep in mind that Animal Kingdom has been closing at 7pm lately, so that will mean ending your park day early if that is your last stop. If your goal is to do all 3 parks in one day (which is a LOT to try to pull off in one day), I’d say start in AK and pay for the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes for Rise and Guardians if those are must-do rides. You can knock out everything in AK by 2pm if you take advantage of early entry. I’d suggest booking Slinky and any of your must-do rides at the other two parks while you’re still at AK. I’d likely do Epcot second and quickly hit your must-dos and then hop on the Skyliner to HS. Fantasmic is a great way to end the night and if you can manage to do Slinky at night, it’s really fun and that whole land is beautiful all lit up. That said - this would be an exhausting day. 😅

Another big thank you Rob. I found the best way for me to learn is just grab my phone, open the Disney app, and poke the screen as you give the instructions instructions. I’m going to be at HS in about a week…crowds shouldn’t be too heavy but there is only one showing of Fantasmic. How early do you think we need to arrive (did not book the dining package)?

Hi Jocelyn. If the crowd feels really heavy, I’d do 45 minutes early. If it feels normal or light, 30 minutes should be plenty. The capacity of that show is massive. Thanks for watching! 😃

Hi Rob! I have a question about booking the next ride after tapping in. So after you tapped into slinky dog dash, do you pin the next ride you’re aiming for? And continue to do that throughout the day? Or do you just scroll and see what is available and choose the best time you see for your next ride ? I hope that makes sense.

Me and my family have been on our family Disney trip and have loved your videos. One thing I would say to people. Is maybe don’t expect this but there were multiple times me and my family were over an hour late to our lightning lane ride and they still always worked!

Hello! Thanks so much for making our videos part of your Disney trip! While the rule is “technically” that you have a 20 minute grace period at the end of your return window, it is true that most Cast Members will still let you in later than that. Some won’t, though - especially if their line is really backed up, so you can’t 100% count on it for sure. But it is definitely worth a try and you’ll almost always get in. Happy 2024!!! 🎉

Wonderful job. You are very entertaining, and very knowledgeable. Thanks for your help. We return to WDW for first time in 3 years and Genie+ will be new to us. My only comment is that you assume folks only want to do a particular ride once in a day. If that is true, your system works well. However if you want to hit headliner rides multiple times/day then I argue you need to judiciously use those passes, and take advantage of low stand-by lines at park open.

We are going in the morning another day, but those are my faves so I was wanting to do those that first day.

I have a very niche question, Rob. If I have a LL booked for Slinky dog or any of the big attractions but it's not for hours. Could I, in theory modify for a ride that is down right now. For eg star tours always seems to have a right now LL. If star tours is down and I modify Slinky for star tours...would I be given an any attraction LL that I could then use immediately on Slinky Dog? Does that make sense? I appreciate it's not going to work unless rides are down.
