I've towed and taken my 2017 GMC Canyon off-road countless times, it's had an active life and now, after almost 6 years and 97k miles, it's still a solid, rattle-free truck. I'm glad the 3rd gen is showing good initial build quality, and I know the 2nd gens aren't perfect, but after owning dozens of vehicles in my lifetime I'm very impressed with how well my 2017 Canyon has held up. It would be virtually impossible to tell the difference between a new 2nd gen and my current truck at this point in time, even when looking under the chassis. Hopefully the 3rd gens hold up well over time/miles. Regarding the seats, that was a common complaint with the 2nd gens as well and I also wasn't happy with the seat comfort on long drives initially, but after a few thousand miles in the seat they became a lot more comfortable and I could easily drive 14+ hours in a day with zero complaints about seat comfort. They're not couch comfortable, but they broke in nicely.

For the life of me I don't understand why. @@IVloses that’s my point exactly. A dedicated off-roader dosnt need that crap anyway. Plus it all takes away from your payload. So less equipment you can take with you. I totally understand some people want all the fancy features. But true off readers less is more. Less things to break more room for equipment. Give me the zr2 all day. Hell even the base zr2 I think should have some options removed outta it personally. To each their own. I just would have preferred to see a base zr2 review first over the at4x
@matth3wc Жыл бұрын
@@mattdagger1480if you equip the ZR2 the same as the AT4X, the ZR2 comes out to 52k vs 57k on the AT4X. $1,500 of that is the forced OnStar subscription (2024 models will be optional) so the real price difference is 3,500. But your point still stands. While I'm getting an AT4, I see the AT4X as too expensive compared to the ZR2. The AT4X has a driver alert seat, HUD, and OnStar which probably isn't worth it for most people.
@Draevon68 Жыл бұрын
i ordered a ZR2 because the differences between the two trucks are very minor and I saved around 10k. The differences certainly don't add up anywhere near the difference in price. Some people might just want a GMC no matter what and that's fine too.

@@mattdagger1480You’re only one type of buyer, sir. You’re looking to save a buck, and that’s ok. The Chevrolet is for you. This is the reason both Chevy and GMC exists. There are other buyers in the market too whose budget won’t allow them to spend $68,000 on a Sierra AT4, don’t need the size of one, but appreciate the attention to detail, quality, luxury, aesthetic and features it offers. This Canyon AT4X is for them! If you can’t see the value in this model then you’re blind and deaf.

Anybody else remember 2019 when Ford reintroduced the Ranger under $30k? I thought it was shocking at the time I could option one up all the way to $45,000.

As far as seats & comfort I think most people would be shocked how the Nissan frontier pro x or pro4 x delivers but off road would require nismo suspension upgrades & maybe some slightly larger ko2 tires

I have a 2024 Chevy Zr2, and the lights are the same. Get over the lights you set it on auto and leave it alone. It took a whole 5 minutes for me not to care. Typically, on a knob not a stalk anymore 😂😂. I wanted to turn my lights off, and it was a touch of a button that is always at the top left of the screen.

My 2021 Sierra AT4 took 40K miles before the seat broke in… it was the worst when it was new. Especially compared to the LazyBoys in my 2005 Sierra.

Hard seats get softer over time ,soft seats get harder over time , one needs to decide how long they are keeping their truck .

If you think today's midsize trucks are as big as full size trucks from 20-30 years ago try putting a 4X8 foot sheet of plywood in the bed with or without the tailgate down.
@andrewsbbq Жыл бұрын
Most people can’t put a sheet in the bed of a 1 ton with the tailgate up. Midsize trucks are only 3” narrower than a half ton from 20 years ago
@dcl97 Жыл бұрын
You couldn't fit a full sheet of plywood in the back of a full-size 30 years ago unless it had a long bed. A true long bed is almost unheard of today even on 3/4 and 1 tons. That's just a matter of buyer preferences dictating a shorter bed. Theses trucks are essentially the same as an old full-size in every dimension, the new Ranger can even fit a sheet between the wheel wells.

Not a fan of the white interior pieces. It’s a truck. They can get dirty. Two tone is cool but not white imo.

So basically the common mentality here amongst the fools in the comment section is that if y’all can’t personally afford to buy one right now, it’s no longer an affordable offering for anyone.? Y’all are absolutely weird. Typical white American males. 🤦🏽♂️

How do you manage to have no other traffic (except for one runner) on this trail? I tried it on a Tuesday and there were gobs of SxS, motorcycles, and Jeeps. Even had a 30 minute traffic jam up from the section with the two logs.

The only thing wrong with it are the lack of the step bumper. It's a signature part of GM trucks that makes them better than the rest.
@killstrees Жыл бұрын
The previous gen zr2 didn't have the step bumper, still doesn't. Makes sense Gmc equivalent would be the same. Supposedly it helps with the departure angle

I have a 2011 F150 4x4 with just under 200k on it was my work truck now my daily driver and it’s great but it is old, cars die quick in New England, I am not rich I make a decent amount of money. I have a family and I’m the only income and this might be my next truck.

Roman needs to quit crying about GM putting automatic headlights control in the infotainment system. He said the truck was missing a stock to control the headlights. When was the last time GM used a stock for the headlights? They have used a dial for the headlights on the left side of the dash for almost 20 years now. He's just being a bitter old man who can't adapt to change, like a boomer. This is coming from a Gen Xer. I'm calling you out Roman.

$60,000 for a midsize truck?!?! Just get a full size Sierra 4x4.
@PeakDecline Жыл бұрын
You should go check the price of a Sierra AT4X. It's around $90,000. The Canyon AT4X is actually better off-road and it's cheaper. The smaller size makes it easier to wheel on trails. The Canyon actually has more suspension travel and better clearance angles than the Sierra. If you're looking for off-road capability, and that's why you would buy the AT4X, then the Canyon AT4X is a far better value.
@1stAmendmentfukyoutube Жыл бұрын
I bet everyone drives on road more than off-road. For people out west who have more access to trails but by far more people just buy it for looks and at that point Sierra wins hands down. Another fad. They won’t last the test of time just like you hardly see any old rangers and small trucks it’s 90% full size trucks I see where I’m at
