Datsun had them starting in the early '60s. With a hook and a long wire that wrapped around. Never had to use it.

That would simply cause you to lose your night adapted vision . Forehead lights existed during WW2, they could use their forehead lights. They went out of style for couple of decades after WW2 but everyone has one today almost.

Someone should manufacture WW 2 jeeps in this design. I would pay 12 - 15 k for it in a heartbeat. Two men can completely strip this jeep down using only hand tools! Including the engine and transmission.
