@dennisl6198 Жыл бұрын
absolutely. Cruise control kills MPG. much better to go with the ebbs and flows of elevation in hilly places like Colorado. Also, CC is usually pretty aggressive, it will immediately downshift with you fall a few MPH on a hill, where a smart human would just lightly roll on the gas in that situation. I have to give adaptive cruise systems like Tesla's autopilot kudos for being much calmer about this sort of thing, i.e. when the slow car in front of you moves out of the way, the tesla slowly and smoothly applies power instead of just ripping back up to your set speed.

You're telling me we're back to having cruise control as an option now? Even with that touchscreen?

A 100 mile loop is a poor indication of MPG. Take a full tank and drive it til the low fuel indication and check your mileage will give a more real world indication of MPG

The difference is the cruse control and the bigger tires .it's fairly insignificant.

I have a '21 Nissan Titan Pro-4x and get 18-21 on the highway and 19-22 on 55mph secondaries with few stops. City, I get 15-16. That's with a 5.6L V8 and AT tires. This is in upstate NY where it isn't flat anywhere. This is one of the reasons I got a full size truck instead of a midsize. The midsize don't get any better gas mileage and I get all the extras of a full size.

I'm disappointed with the mpg on these new trucks. My 2018 Colorado gets 24.8 on average and almost 26 on the highway.

They must be doing something wrong. My Silverado with a 2.7 gets better than the numbers they just put up.

My Canyon 2wd gets 22mpg combined hwy and city. With all that torque I don't have to floor the gas pedal to get average performance out of the truck. I stay at the speed limit and coast a little bit more when coming up on a red light or an exit from the freeway. I accelerate with out using alot of RPM'S and let the torque do its thing.

Just want to debunk the Cruise control system, that system adjusts a number of settings for the vehicle to stay at that speed. CC works best on long straight roads but not so much on hills, turns and basic traffic. In theory you can travel +\- 5mph and still be better than the cc. I’m a researcher automotive engineer who validates multiple vehicles such the ones you drive.

Hey Andre the Canyons tires are actually 31.6 inches tall and the Colorado tires are 32.1 inches tall overall so you only gain .5 inch of height not enough to hurt your mileage in real world driving.

I bet the canyon would have done better if cruise control wasn't on. My 2019 V6 Denali canyon always gets better when I'm controlling the gas pedal

I would have thought they would have done better. When I had my 2016 Colorado it got like 24 mpg and my best was 27 on the highway at 70.

Different driving situations and habits will result in different results. Still though these 2.7 turbos produce way more torque than either old 3.6 or even the 5.3 so there is a trade off. A the end of the day a couple mpg hit isnt going to impact your wallet too much.
@godar001 Жыл бұрын
@ALMX5DP all I'm saying is I'd you are going to spend that much money you can easily get a silverado that has more capabilities then the Colorado. Don't get me wrong I think the new Colorado looks amazing chevy knocked it out of the park with styling .

@@godar001 I think there’s still a decent difference in price unless you’re comparing none similar specs. If it doesn’t work for you of course a half ton might make more sense but I suspect there will be enough of a market for these who don’t want the size of a half ton, and this gives them plenty of power and performance.

The 23 Ridgeline has a V6, which gets about 19 city, 24 Highway. I get average 22 mixed, 26 mpg Highway at 70. But at 78 I get 23,24mpg. 8 speed auto. I wonder what the taco hybrid will get.
