No wait list. I bought a 3300watt controller from eletrfied in Australia and it fits where the stock controller fits and you cant tell its upgraded. Its the v2 bbshd controller. Its a 52volt 60 amp controller that works with stock display and now the torque is insane. I do want a bac855 but no one had any or huge waiting list. If you live in canada like me and its winter time my bbshd doesnt even get hot at all. I really like your channel because of your knowledge but i learnt the hard way by breaking chains ever month and replacement of cassettes ever month adds up and i rounded off my lekkie bling ring. Jamie, were you running the HV kit with 52v and at how many amps? How did you like the power?
@jamo9000 Жыл бұрын
@@Hybrid600 Yes I did run the HV kit at 52V. All depends on your BMS but i was drawing about 55A peak. It was an amazing difference not only the extra power ~3000W but also the extra smoothness. Then transition to 72V is another huge leap which enables far greater RPM so much higher speeds in the larger rear cogs. If just using throttle you barley ever need to change gears.
@Hybrid600 Жыл бұрын
@@jamo9000 Thanks for the info! I was thinking of getting the 52v BMS changed to a higher limit one in the meantime. 3000w is plenty. That way I can keep the same battery for now and upgrade to the more expensive 72v one later. Cheers.
@jamo9000 Жыл бұрын
@@Hybrid600 Yeah also depends on what cells are in too for Max discharge rate rating. Another option is also to bypass the BMS for discharge only just need to be careful if going that route. My original battery I got with the stock 30A BBSHD had Samsung Q30s and 14S5P so plenty of draw avail. I got lucky as I have no idea what my BMS was limited to on draw if anything as it never cutout and I pulled up to 3300W. I then upgraded to a 20S5P Molicel P42A battery back and it really is incredible.

I have the bbshd and bac855 kit not from hv but basically similar, I love it how reliable it's been and etc but I don't know if it's the best choice these days with cyc making improvements to their offerings and bafang ending support for the bbshd eventually like they seem to want to do. I worry about being able to get parts in the future. That being said it's so easy to replace things on this motor and I love it but I hope they don't stop selling parts in the future.
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
Bafang are not stopping making the bbshd and even if they did another factory would take it over. I doubt you will have to worry about parts. CYC have definitely stepped it up. I'm yet to see anyone run one for 10,000+ kms like the touring guys do with the bbshd. I was contacted just today with a gen3 sprag clutch fail after 1000km. You can change that on a bbshd without dropping the motor I'm pretty sure. Not so much the CYC. It's definitely more modern but build wise it's not at strong.
@CHAD-pj8rx Жыл бұрын
For mid-drive motors putting outwards of 4000-5000w, have you ever experienced any drivetrain problems of chains snapping, etc? Does this level of power destroy drivetrains as most people think? Is it realistic to believe that a regular drivetrain could take 5000w for medium periods while taking precautions such as letting off the throttle while shifting and using lower gears to not over work the motor? Thanks
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
You need to make sure you have a strong hub, steel sprockets of reasonable quality and a good derailleur, clutched if you can get one. I uses 8 speed chain as its a bit thicker. The stuff does not have cost the earth but I would steer clear of cheap alu stuff. I am on the same Sunrace cassette and derailleur and chance chain once a year. The bling ring I have up front is looking good still. The kit we have peeks at 4000watts. Above that it gets harder. You can strip pawls on hubs if its not a good one. Gearing the bike and getting a good chain line is important. Trying to force the bike in too high a gear and using the pedals is a sure way to bust a chain. But you just learn not to. Hope this helps. Cheers

I've no idea why bafang doesn't offer official 72v controller for bbshd if it handles it easily. It's not easy for me to make such an upgrade, 52v is not bad but I'm riding it for a long time already and want something new. The main question for me is, try to switch my trusty bbshd to 72v or look for different type of bike, like with heavier frame, maybe some powerful hub motor, or another mid drive, or sur ron. I'm 11 years into ebikes but it's so hard to choose something new without trying it, I want something much better and powerful and so that I won't be regretting about it.

The only one that is nerfed is the M625. But even that you rip off the controller and use an external one. As long as you get a BBSHD you should have no problems. A place like EM3EV will come with better programming than one from Ali express but you can still program it yourself with either an eggrider V2 or a program cable. It is best to make contact via customer service depending on what you want to do in those cases as we can give you advice on the parameters that you would need to change. I have it fitted to a single rear gear so no gear change necessary> Once it gets going it is ok ( not great like on some of the You tube vids) but it quickly dies off on gradients and starting from standstill. There is a 42 tooth main drive also. Thanks
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
The first thing is to look at your gearing. What are you running on the back. If its a smaller gear then you will have less torque. With a stock motor you need to start in a lower gear and work up to the higher ones to get any kind of pull off the line. In your case as its single speed there is not much you can do and it will put additional stress on the motor as the power running into it will be expressed as heat. If you want torque and single speed then the kit here would help as you could run a 1:1 ratio and use the RPMs to get high speed and huge torque. But you would then loose the ability to get any exercise use out of PAS. My most recent video looks a but more a gearing for mid drives. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qojCpKqqrtBqrJI
@Nobbyman1 Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I did find the video after I put in the request. You are correct that I need a larger gear on the wheel. It's only the smallest and about 12 teeth. I always thought that the higher the drive the lowest the driven for drive. I will have to get another wheel as I do not have any gears.

Unfortunately not. If you have some parts already we can reduce the cost a bit. It is the only kit out there that comes with full support on all aspects of the upgrade including the bike itself on our discord community.

I'll be buying a kit after I do a stock build and ride it some. Do you have any videos of a stock build vs a kit build? visual performance?

Yeah. If you click on the videos tab for the channel there are loads of videos at the start from when it was run stock. This one in particular has some good into although I think I got the labels wrong for stock and 52 volts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWjUZoeYfr6kbas

I first got the bike back in 2018 and got a stock bbshd. I ran it stock till late 2019 and got a BAC800. There are about 220 videos now so you will have to go back quite a way.

Can you still use the shift sensor with this kit?
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
As long as you get the harness with brake cutoffs I think so. You would have to use a long extension or locate the sensor at the upper end of the cable though.
@jamisonhinton5837 Жыл бұрын
@High Voltage also will there be any benefits to using with 52v system?
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
Not really. Slightly higher top speed but it's not really that kind of bike. 36 or 48 volts will be good as well. It really is a PAS machine.

Hi I'm interested in 1 of your kit's, is the peek gear available when ordering this kit?
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
We have been out of stock on those for ages. Luna was the main source. They keep saying two months and then two months passes so we are looking at other options. You can email greg@highvoltagekits.com to order the upgrade kit and also make contact via the discord server if you are a member there. Cheers

Your website states: " Like with the 500c display the Eggrider is limited to 52 volt batteries. There are workarounds for 72 volts and we are currently exploring those." Dude you've been using an eggrider with a 72v battery on your fat bike.
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
The workaround is a bit flakey tho. Our kits also have a solution. I need to update it cause we no longer do the 500c. Thanks for the heads up.
@RetroMancer242 Жыл бұрын
@@HighVoltageKits Oh ok. Yea I was going to ask you if you would sell your kits cheaper w/o an egg rider because I already bought one, tweaked it with the app, and hooked it up. Oh well. Anyway I have a question. From your experience, could you tell me if I did a convserion using your bac855 and 1 gear setup, but with a 52v battery, and say a 42t front and 32t rear, (27.5 tires) - would I get decent acceleration and a top speed? I really want a 1 gear setup, but also using my removable 52v 20ah battery. Thanks.

Hi mate, I have some questions: What's the difference between bac855 and Phaserunner? What's the max amps the bbshd can take continuously without frying? How many max amps of field weaking can be pushed in the bbshd? Do you know where can I buy the steel reduction gear for the bbshd? I can't find it anywhere. Cheers
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
Hi, the phaserunner is based on the same boards as the 855 or at least the frankenrunner is. The phase runner seems to not be made anymore. So its still ASI tech but they supply the bare boards and parts to grin who then assemble them themselves. They do this so they can run their own version of software on there. We set ours to 90 phase which generates 4000 watts peak. We also use thermal throttling to back things off if the motor gets too hot. There are lots of tricks to running it this hard and the main one is to use a 1:1 gear ration which provides a good balance of speed and torque. Let the RPMs do the work. Field weakening is the ratio and people use anywhere between 25-50% The steel gear is hard to get and is not the best option. The PEEK is better but that is also hard to get. I saw a few in Europe but very expensive. Almost $100. Both were originally luna products and I don't know why they are not making them anymore. You are welcome to join our discord and learn more about this stuff if you would like. highvoltagekits.com/discord

Hey Sean. It boosts the power of the motor by almost three times delivery blistering acceleration much greater torque and top speed. We use very high quality components throughout and back it up with full installation support as well as ongoing technical support with our online Discord community. We help with all aspects of building a bike. When you factor all of that in its actually a good deal. You are most welcome to join our Discord community if you would like to chat to people using the kit. There are lots of videos on the channel showing what it can do. Apart from breaking the rotor shaft and melting plastic gear and burning out hall sensors it's a very strong motor not
@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
There are certain caveats to running this kind of power through them. Otherwise you can cause the problems you mention. If you set your bike up right with the gearing and monitor the heat build up. Usually, these problems occur when trying to drive high power through a much too small rear sprocket, which stresses everything and builds up heat really fast.
@MichaelGreenLagos Жыл бұрын
@@HighVoltageKits the bbshd as been up graded the rotor shaft is bigger and the metal gear dose solve the problem with the gear melting and I have the cycle analysis to stop the over heating and I run it on a fix gear 42 to 28 that solved the problem of being inthe wrong gear i change the rotor for a bigger shaft i think it gone from 8mm to 12 mm and that solved that problem then the hall sensor like you say don't get it too hot my motor is the very first one from lunacycle i I was trying to make a metal gear at one point but as you say lunacycle was the first thanks for all your work i have a Asibac855 now running at 72v i have a switch to turn it on its works at 12v i also have a crystalyte hubmotor ufo3540 thru axle 142x12 . the controller is Amazing like your water proof leads very tidy have a good day Michael Green Portugal

@HighVoltageKits Жыл бұрын
Try getting support from one of those other places and see if they want to help you. At best they will charge you $50 to change a few parameters. Whereas our kit comes with full support and service. It's the only one put there with proper thermal throttling. We have an app that let's you connect to the BAC and adjust throttle curves etc. There are plenty of reasons why it's worth not always getting the cheapest options. I listed a couple. If price is the main thing for you then by all means exercise your freedom. We are going to continue to put out the best product by a mile and yes charge extra for that. Cheers
