Thanks for doing these videos! Is the 23 CRF450R too much pump for a slow vet?

When's the 250r getting tested

Ping, had my first ride on my 2023 CRF450WE. I couldn't find anyone with suspension settings for the 23 works edition. We are close to the same weight but knowing the WE has a few differences with the components with coating and shaft size on the rear shock I figured best to work from the stock settings. After trying to find settings on a really busy track day I noticed I was close to your settings. I'm planning to go with your rear shock settings next track day as start to see if that's better. I noticed the bike off jumps seems a little front end high for some reason. Did you notice this as well on the bike you tested? Can't believe how the engine feels with a wide torquey power band the standard mode. Anyway I really appreciate race spec to get us riders close on the correct settings. Thanks Dave

Dave Ernst: How do like your new '23 CRF450WE? The updated chassis feel any different from the '21/22 models? The new suspension settings more plush and planted? Sounds like the new engine updates are working well with smoother power. Picking up a new 2023 CRF450WE this week and yours are the first comments I have seen on the bike.

@@mxengineer1 I only have .6 hours on the bike. I can't compare to the 21, 22 year models since I haven't riden them. The bike feels good. Still playing with chassis setup. I haven't really rode to limits yet just breaking things in. The one thing I did notice was using higher gears in turns with plenty of torque to pull out with no clutch. Im using the std mapping now. Let's talk more after the weekend. I'm going out for a track day on Sunday. Oh watch the spokes mine were loose after the .6 hrs

@@daveernst4047 Thanks for the feedback! I was able to ride my '23 CRF450WE last night for the first time at an indoor track. That engine is smooth with excellent throttle to rear wheel connectivity. I found the spokes fairly loose out of the crate(!) I went +2 softer on compression FR/RR and +1/4 softer on HSC and the bike felt really good. The coatings on the Showa suspension give such a friction free feel. Cold and muddy in Ohio now so most likely only indoor riding for a few more weeks.

@@mxengineer1 second ride with Pings rear shock settings feel really good. With the shock settings the front wheel is more planted and the rbike corners better. The forks feel good too. May have adjust a click for rougher tracks. Thinking on replacing fork oil to Race-tech for even better feel. Still riding with the traction control (Honda calls it torque control) set at the lowest #3 and Engine mode 1 STD. The bike is awesome 👌 let me know how you are doing with your 23 WE..

@@daveernst4047 Just indoor riding at RT62MX for now though the building is 320ft x 160ft so fun track with 6-lanes. I'll be riding the WE again Monday night - I'll try Ping's and your rear shock setting

Dirt bike tracks are near where people can hear you the noise is part of the enjoyment they can deal with it for a little while of riding

If you don't like the noise, don't live near a track or riding area.

Year after year the brands seems to want smaller and smaller side plastics. Like why? Im 100% honest here, 2002 Yamaha yz426f looks better then this bike. This bike looks so emty, So tiny and hollow.
