Many are asking what size foot pegs. They are the crf150 version through link in description.
@yosemitemotorsportadventur8562 Жыл бұрын
So, when you hit your link, several come up for different brand motos, then you go find Honda, under the 150, there are 2 choices, the CRF150R which I ordered & def don't fit, the other choice is the CRF150F, is that what you ordered? was any modifying involved? The link is confusing, now I've got to return them. Def appreciate all the mods info though!

I love this bike. Mine is a 2015 model. Over time, I made some performance and safety modes to cater my needs. I've changed the handlebars to protaper fuzion handle bar and risers, installed some barkbuster full on handguards, upgraded to 18/21 rims and slapped them with shinko 705s, changed the chain to 520 and sprockets 13T front, 40T rear. Installed some skid plates, crash guards and fork guards. Changed all.lights to LED. Upgraded the stator, intergrated all accessory switches in one handleswitch, intalled mini-driving lights and loudhorns. Overall, this thing is ready for emergency or be a bugout bike. Install some GPS, tank bags, saddle bags and some light survival essentials, then you can disappear and regroup away from chaos.

I also have a black one. I have had 150cc bikes in the past, so was well aware of what performance is like. I can cruise along at 45-50 mph comfortably, and run 55-60, if I have to keep up with traffic. I live in rural Iowa and have lots of county blacktop roads and gravel to ride. SxS and 4 wheelers are highway legal here, if the have lights. They have a 35mph speed limit, so I am not the slowest person on the back roads. I usually fill up about 150 miles and put in less than 2 gallons. Really fun to ride on gravel. Great review!

I'm over in council bluffs and have a similar experience with it. Bike tops out around 60 and get roughly 150 miles before it hits the reserve. I believe most of the claims on 350 miles per tank or 70 mph are from owners at lower elevation.

What you claim is trendy but incorrect. I'm going to buy one. I'm in my eighties now and have many decades of riding behind me. I just want a small bike to zip around town on and that get's good mileage and is easy and fun to maintain. The 150 is perfect for my needs but I am hardly a beginner. I want to be the only one in my groUp that drives to the senior center lunch on a Honda instead of driving a Buick. And.... I can easily pay cash for this little thing. I completely agree . I purchased the Honda Navi last year and did 2400klms. Loved every second , like I tell people if you can ride a bicycle the Navi is easier , When I saw the new XR150L I bought it immediately this bike has a nice balance of so many needs like the wieght/low , comfortable/seat/riding position, reliable/low maintenance/low operating cost , dual sport/go anywhere, rear rack/tail bag and tank bag ready. The only add ons are new pegs/cheap upgrade , new Led headlight/also cheap/modern look/brighter , folding Tusk shifter , new 115 jet/lean at below 2000ft./better midrange and top end torque , after 1600klms to 2000klms break-in this great engine just purrs with Honda pride.

Just hit 172 miles on the first tank when the bike abruptly died as it ran out of gas, no warning, but I was pegged on a busy 3-mile long bridge in traffic.Pucker factor was high. Switched to reserve on the shoulder and it started after some reluctance. Definitely my only negative experience in the first couple hundred miles. Was used to my KLR sputtering to give me a heads up to throw the petcock over; no such warning on the XR. So from now on, I will fill up around 160 and just avoid the issue. Overall, a fun and capable little beast. Handles like a dream w/great stock tires.
@MichaelWhite-cx4ho Жыл бұрын
A similar thing happened to me at around 200 miles, but I did have warning in terms of sputtering/hesitation. Wasn't sure what was going on, but reaching down and switching to reserve was the only move I could think of in that situation. Luckily, gas turned out to be the issue. I realized afterward that I was an ass to ASSume the dealer had topped off the 2.8 gallon tank. I did, and I will report back with my mpg when I fill it again. I will not ASSume again that I have at least 250 miles given Honda's claim of 124 mpg and a 2.8 gallon tank! BTW, I sold cars for a huge, high volume dealer back in the early 90's, and we always gave the customers a full tank with their purchase. I think it's a good, cheap practice that helps create happy customers and repeat business and referrals. UPDATE: I have since come to learn that the reserve on the xr150l is .9 gallons! That means you have 1.9 to 2.0 gallons to consume before needing to switch to reserve. You should be able to make 175 to 200 before needing to switch to reserve for another 75+. I may have been an ASS once again to ASSume the dealer didn't completely fill the tank. I was just lame and started riding before really getting to know the bike. Just glad I didn't end up "stranding" myself only to find out later that I had 100 miles or so of reserve.

Good review. I'm not much of a 'dirt' guy but wanted a dual sport. This is bike 12 (currently). I also have a 21 honda trail which i like, but lets be honest, its a tarted up super cub. Also, small, but i dig it. I can see why people like to compare, but, this is a very different experience between the 2. the trail to me, is good for hauling stuff, easy ride, etc. this is more comfortable, surprisingly good ergonomics & def more capable short run 2-up. 99% of my riding is in town on secondary roads, or the rural sc roads. the day after i bought mine, i did 20 miles on back roads to break it in, was not fatigued, etc. the midrange performance was lacking,, and 5th gear was a bit too low gearing. I tired a 16 t up front, didn't like it, but had 'rebel gears' do a 51t for the rear w the stock 17 up front and its perfect. I got a white one, would def recommend. I paid 3670 or so out the door at generation 3 powersports in florence, sc. (2 hours away) the local dealer 1 mile from the house wanted 4765 otd, and i'll never go in there again after that last debacle. (theres a lot more to it than that). everyone ive let ride the 150 has liked it, def recommend. and impressed w the review, its spot on.

They only like to do about 60mph or so too and I believe they have a 32” seat height. 5 speed as well, but the newer ones are fuel injected so no messing with a carb. Just some bikes to consider. Also, a Kawasaki KLX230 hits another sweet spot…fuel injected, 6 speed, dual disc brakes, air cooled, low seat height…some good deals out there on preowned ones, for those that felt the need to get the larger/heavier/more complex KLX300.

They'll stop calling that thing small or tiny if you change the wheel config from 19 front & 17 rear, into 21 front & 18 rear, just like a formal trail bike. That will dramatically increase seat height, top-speed, and overall looks. Check youtube videos of this 6'6" (2m) tall brit promoting his business in vietnam called Tigit. He's got good reviews about the XR150L, and the modified bike looks okay with him on it. Here in PH, XR150L owners do that 21"/18" mod all the time. And to avoid maxing out the suspensions we change the stock front fender with something that is not stooping like the stock one (CRF front fender), and change the suspensions with an inch or 2-inch longer ones, with a little bit of pre-tension, whichever we could handle. I am almost as tall as you (181cm), and the time I rode one, I could still touch both of my feet, flat on the ground, but my legs a bit stretched.

We often using this bike on rough road steep uphills but it can handle it. Slowly but surely. The torque is good. Even in the biggest heat need full choke and the engine keep stalling even with that. Tires are still stock. Chain just adjusted 2 weeks ago still stock. Oil change after every 1200 km. Spark plug change after every 8000 km. It would be a great bike if they assembly it properly in China. No other option for duo sport bike in the Philippines. Kawasaki KLX is too small, Yamaha XTZ is 125 and very small too.

I was going to buy one at the dealer but there was a $400 junk fees that turned me off. I ended up buying a new Venom mini chopper 250 that cost 2k. I really liked the Honda though.

It's normally those who have limited miles on a motorcycle, that misuse the term "entry level".....I'm 70...I've bought over 30 brand new motorcycles in my life, from Harleys, a couple Beemers and everything that burns rice...One thing I've learned, it's not displacement or horsepower that depict a bikes purpose...It's how the rider plans on applying the bike to his preferred riding style and enviorment...I presently own a 2022 650 klr adventure, ( my 7th new klr over a 30 year span).. I'm considering this bike, not because I'm a beginner, rather because I would like something lighter and maneuverable for short runs..And sometimes the smaller displacement bikes ( lacking a dash play station), brings guys of my generation back to a simpler time, when the most basic of machines, offered the purest experience of riding....So a little advice for the young rookie riders, (especially those that enjoy sharing their experience on utube), get a grip on the intended and optional use of a bike before designated it a "beginners" ...No disrespect to this fine gentlemen..Nice review..

@@JackPeters-yk9wg I do agree. A smaller simpler bike to kick around town is a blast. I actually just picked up a nice small bike that I’m really enjoying. Video coming today on that. 👍

Interesting to note: For only 9 pounds more, you can get a Yamaha XT250 (282 vs 291 lb wet). The XT250 has the same seat height and same wheelbase, but it's fuel injected, has bigger wheels (better for off-road), and has higher ground clearance. Of course it's also $5300. But it points to the generally lower quality of the XR150L, meaning use of heavier materials. Thanks for the video.

Can’t find one from my preferred Honda dealer (Monterey County, California). They were expecting one and nothing came in. The owner told me they haven’t been able to order anything since COVID. And they don’t know if any are coming. Freaking stinks…HELLO HONDA!!!

@philipcloutier2553 Жыл бұрын
The dealer is in business to make a profit no less . And look at it this way . The dealer only gets a limited number of these bike per year . I rode mine all summer and never came across one other XR150L . So as the new kid sort of (65yrs.) even the teenagers want to know about this great bike . Surprisingly it generated lots of intrest by women as most can lift this light wieght after a tip over . I told them the ride is oh so plush as well the seat is second to only the best . I went to many bike nights . And only I had one . 50,000+ Asian and South Americans can't be wrong .

I have had trouble with bad gas, can you turn off the gas and run the engine till it stops? This will protect you from bad gas. Also I am short and might need to lower the rear for seat height. And what about the quality of the tires and tubes. Used to have lots of problems with tires and tubes when I was young, 60 years ago.

Did all the 2023 models sell out or are the 2024 advertised ones made in 2023? All the dealers say its a 2024. Im confused by the year they say these bikes are.

Hey buddy. Thanks for the video. What is a proper out the door price at a"stealer ship" I live in a city where there us a monopoly on bikes. One group owns all the dealerships. 3xcept a rogue Polaris store and a Polaris yamaha dealership just out of town. They won't hudge on. Price on any bike ever. Cost plus freight plus set up plus tt&l . Best out the door price I can get is 4300 new

How do I not buy one from the stealership?
@ltcuaa Жыл бұрын
buy something else used. % wise fees don't seem crazy on a pricey bike but the freight and set up fees are the same on a 3k bike. they need to pay people to set it up and tons of overhead. then pay medical and retirement and paid vacation for employees. maybe 20k a month for rent etc.......
@DustySteel Жыл бұрын
@@ltcuaa thank you. I was specific in my question. I should’ve said how do I buy this specific motorcycle without getting from the dealership. It was a rhetorical question though because the answer is that you can’t because it’s a new model here in the states.

The way to buy at a better price is wait a year someone will sell a used one for cheaper than OTD cost . They might reduce the price like they did to the Navi .
@DustySteel Жыл бұрын
@@philipcloutier2553 at the time this video was posted there were none available near me. Most of the dealerships would not go down on price at the time because of how popular it was. I did get mine for cheaper then what the dealership was asking though.

Same story here at about 330 miles: bike was off with key in run position and light on and doused off the front with water… Subsequently no light or ignition. Was able to dump the couch and start it in gear (no headlight) and troubleshoot/replace 7.5 amp fuse when back to camp. Very odd; now carry two spare 7.5 fuses.
